Just When I Need Him Most

Just When I Need Him Most

Can you think of a time when you were hurting, depressed or just down on your luck and something happened to change it all around for you? I can think of several times when God showed up in just the right moment. “For we know that in all things God works for the good to those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28. I am blessed because of those last-minute moments.

Lyrics by William C. Poole, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“Just when I need Him, Jesus is near, just when I falter, just when I fear; Ready to help me, ready to cheer.

Just when I need Him, Jesus is true, never forsaking all the way through; Giving for burdens pleasures anew.

Just when I need Him, Jesus is strong, bearing my burdens all the day long; For all my sorrow giving a song.

Just when I need Him, He is my all, answering when upon Him I call; Tenderly watching lest I should fall.

Just when I need Him most, just when I need Him most, Just when I need Him most; Jesus is near to comfort, and cheer, just when I need Him most.”

Lord, I Hear of Showers of Blessing

Lord, I Hear of Showers of Blessing

No one wants to be left out. We all want to be part of something, whether it be family, a community, or a group of friends. What many people don’t realize is that they are part of being receivers of God’s blessings. God’s grace is in abundance and His mercy endures forever. We receive showers of blessings every day, and most people don’t recognize them. When someone smiles at us, it is a blessing. When God waters our gardens with rain. It is a blessing. When we get a day to ourselves or with our special friend. It is a blessing.

Lyrics by Elizabeth Conner, arranged by William B. Bradbury

“Lord, I hear of showers of blessing, Thou are scattering full and free, showers the thirsty land refreshing; Let some droppings fall on me.

Pass me not, O tender Savior! Let me love and cling to Thee; I am longing for Thy favor; While Thou are calling, O call me.

Pass me not, O mighty Spirit; Thou can make the blind to see; Witnesses of Jesus’ merit, speak the word of power to me.

Love of God, so pure and changeless; blood of Christ, so rich and free; Grace of God, so strong and boundless; Magnify them all in me.

Pass me not! Thy lost one bringing, bind my heart, O Lord, to Thee; While the streams of life are springing; blessing others, O bless me.

Even me, even me, Let thy blessing fall on me.”

I'll Live for Him

I’ll Live for Him

What does it mean to live for God? First we must acknowledge and accept that He gave up His one and only son to come to earth and die for us, to take away our sins. Then we must build a relationship with Jesus in order to go to heaven to be with the Trinity. To have a relationship with Jesus we must know what He says and how He lived so that we can be obedient to His words and live as He did, with love and compassion for all mankind. Get to know Him through the Bible and live accordingly, Repenting, Confessing and being baptized as Jesus did when He walked the earth.

Lyrics by Ralph E. Hudson, arranged by C.H. Dunbar

“My life, my love, I give to you, Thou Lamb of God who died for me; Oh, may I ever faithful be, my Savior and my God!

I now believe Thou does receive, for Thou has died that I might live; And now henceforth I’ll trust in Thee, my Savior and my God!

O Thou who died on Calvary, to save my soul and make me free, I’ll consecrate my life to Thee, my Savior and my God!

I’ll live for Him who died for me, how happy than my life shall be! I’ll live for Him who died for me, my Savior and my God!

More Love to Thee

More Love to Thee

God loves you and there is nothing you can do to add to it or take it away. We also should love God in return. The amount of love isn’t the issue. It’s the heartfelt yearning to love Him more every day that makes our life more meaningful. When we get down on bended knee our love for Him and what He has done for us should pour out of our pores. When we enjoy the beauty of our surroundings, the material blessings He has provided for us, our safe havens, our family and friends, our hearts tend to navigate toward loving Him more. Thank you Lord, for loving us so much that you gave your only son to die for us.

Lyrics by Elizabeth P. Prentiss, arranged by William H. Doane

“More love to Thee, O Christ, more love to Thee! Hear Thou the prayer I make on bended knee; This is my earnest plea; More love,  O Christ to Thee.

Once earthly joy I craved, sought peace and rest; Now Thee alone I see, give what is best; this all my prayer shall be: More love, O Christ to Thee.

Let sorrow do its work. Send grief and pain; Sweet are Thy messengers, sweet their refrain, when they can sing with me; More love, O Christ to Thee.

Then shall my latest breath whisper Thy praise; This be the parting cry my heart shall raise; This still its prayer shall be; More love, O Christ to Thee, more love to Thee, more love to Thee!

In the Hour of Trial

In the Hour of Trial

Satan knows our weaknesses and he is roaming the earth ready to pounce on us the moment he senses that weakness. He makes us worry, he makes us do the “What ifs”. What if I get sick, what if I embarrass myself, what if I embarrass others. Beware that you don’t fall into this trap. Take your thoughts captive and ask God to strengthen you in your weakness. Turn to Him to comfort you and tell satan to take a hike.

Lyrics by James Montgomery, arranged by Spencer Lane

“In the hour of trial, Jesus, plead for me; Lest, by base denial, I depart from Thee; When Thou sees me waver, with a look recall; Nor for fear or favor suffer me to fall.

With forbidden pleasures would this vain world charm; Or its sordid treasures spread to work me harm; Bring to my remembrance sad Gethsemane, or, in darker semblance, cross-crowned Calvary.

Should Thy mercy send me sorrow, toil and woe; Or should pain attend me on my path below, grant that I may never fail Thy hands to see; Grant that I may ever cast my care on Thee.

When my last hour comes, fraught with strife and pain, when my dust returns to the dust again; On Thy truth relying through that mortal strife; Lord, receive me, dying, to eternal life.” Amen.

More Like the Master

More Like the Master

I want to be more like the Master. Who wouldn’t want to be? To be meeker, humbler, to have the zeal to do the job or ministry that He has put before me. To have the strength and courage to do hard things, especially those things that are outside of my comfort zone. To be able to minister to others and to set a good example for them. Less of me and more of Him.

Lyrics by Charles H. Gabriel, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“More like the Master I would ever be, more of His meekness, more humility; More zeal to labor, more courage to be true, more consecration for work He bids me do.

More like the Master is my daily prayer; More strength to carry crosses I must bear; More earnest effort to bring His kingdom in; More of His Spirit, the wanderer to win.

More like the Master I would live and grow; More of His love to others show; More self-denial, like His in Galilee, more like the Master I long to ever be.

Take Thou my heart, I would be Thine alone; Take Thou my heart and make it all Thine own; Purge me from sin, O Lord, I now implore, wash me and keep me Thine forever more.”

There Shall Be Showers of Blessing

There Shall Be Showers of Blessing

Have you counted your blessings today? We may not realize it but we are showered with blessings every day. Every thank you received for something we did for another is a blessing. Just waking up in the morning is a blessing. Look around you, God has showered us with blessings in abundance. Don’t look on the downside of life but look up and around and see all the good things you have been blessed with. His mercy alone is a tremendous blessing.

Lyrics by Daniel W. Whittle, arranged by James McGranahan

“There shall be showers of blessing;” This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, sent from the Savior above.

“There shall be showers of blessing;” Precious reviving again; Over the hills and the valleys, sound of abundance of rain.

“There shall be showers of blessing;” send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing, come, and now honor Thy word.

“There shall be showers of blessing;” Oh, that today they might fall, now as to God we’re confessing, now as on Jesus we call.

Showers of blessing, showers of blessing we need; Mercy drops round us are falling, but for the showers we plead.

Open My Eyes, that I May See

Open My Eyes, That I May See

In today’s world it is hard to discern what is truth and what is a lie. Satan roams this earth trying to deceive everyone he can. It’s on social media, in the news, in the gossip. The only way to tell if something is true is if it lines up with God’s Word. That is why it is so important for us to talk to God every day and ask for wisdom and understanding in every aspect of our life. Only God can open our eyes to what is true, honorable, just, righteous and of good report. Don’t place your faith and trust in mankind or you will be disappointed.

Lyrics by Clara H. Scott, arranged by Clara H. Scott

“Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth Thou has for me; Place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp, and set me free, silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see; open my eyes, illumine me, spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear voices of truth Thou sends clear; And while the wave-notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear. Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see; Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Open my mouth and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere; Open my heart, and let me prepare love with Thy children thus to share. Silently now I wait for Thee, ready, my God, Thy will to see; Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine!

Lead, Kindly Light

Lead, Kindly Light

How many sleepless nights have you had pondering past mistakes, feeling guilt and shame. Or anticipating what will happen tomorrow? There might be something you are anxious about outside your comfort zone. Most of the time our anxiety that we bring on ourselves turns out to either not happen or once it does, you wonder why I was so worried? When I pray, I ask God to lead me to the light, let me live minute by minute, holding my focus toward Him. When our focus is on self, we don’t do well. When we focus on God, we trust Him to go with us, to guide us and protect us.

Lyrics by John H. Newman, arranged by John H. Dykes

“Lead, kindly light, amid the encircling gloom, lead Thou me on! The night is dark, and I am far from home; Lead Thou me on! Keep Thou my feet; I do not ask to see the distant scene; one step enough for me.

I was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou  should lead me on; I loved to choose and see my path; but now Lead Thou me on! I loved the garish day, and spite of fears, pride ruled my will, remember not past years!

So long Thy power has blessed me, sure it still will lead me on over moor and fen, over crag and torrent, till the night is gone, and with the morn those angel faces smile, which I have loved long since, and lost a while!

O For a Closer Walk with God

O For a Closer Walk with God

How close are you to God? Do you know Who He is? Is God first in your life? What are your idols? An idol is something you put before God. If He is not first in your life, then you have an idol. It could be your money, your relationships, your television, your bad habits, any material thing that you cherish more than the Lord. If you want to have a closer walk with God, then you must give up your idols and follow Him with all your heart.

Lyrics by William Cowper, arranged by William Gardiner

“O for a closer walk with God, a calm and heavenly frame. A light to shine upon the road that leads me to the Lamb!

Where is the blessedness I knew when first I saw the Lord? Where is the soul refreshing view of Jesus and His word?

The dearest idol I have known, whatever that idol be. Help me to fear it from Thy throne and worship only Thee.

So shall my walk be close with God, calm and serene my frame; So purer light shall mark the road that leads unto the Lamb.

More About Jesus

More About Jesus

Have you ever met someone who you wanted to know more about? Jesus is a mystery to many people. How can anyone live a perfect life on this earth and why would anyone die for someone like me? These are questions that we can only learn the answers to in God’s Word. When we study God’s word, we can discern His voice. We can feel the comfort and nurturing of His grace. Why would anyone show grace to those of us who do not deserve it? There are so many questions that need answered and the more we know about Jesus, the more we get to know Him. Don’t just read His word, study it until you truly understand who Jesus is and why He does what He do.

Lyrics by Eliza E. Hewitt, arranged by John R. Sweney

“More about Jesus would I know, more of His grace to others show; more of His saving fullness see, more of His love who died for me.

More about Jesus let me learn, More of His holy will discern; Spirit of God, my teacher be, showing the things of Christ to me.

More about Jesus; in His word, holding communion with my Lord; Hearing His voice in every line, making each faithful saying mine.

More about Jesus on His throne, riches in glory all His own; More of His kingdom’s sure increase; more of His coming, Prince of Peace.

More, more about Jesus, more, more about Jesus; More of His saving fullness see, more of His love who died for me.”

O, Jesus I Have Promised

O, Jesus I Have Promised

Even Though God has given me a ministry to serve Him and others, I am quite aware that I couldn’t do any of it, if God is not there with me. Whatever I do, it is with the utmost ability that God has given me to get the work done. God is always near me, and I know that when the world gets in the way, that He draws me back and assures me He is there to defend me and protect me. He has promised to be there for me throughout all eternity, and I promise to serve Him throughout my lifetime.

Lyrics by John E. Bode, arranged by Arthur H. Mann

“O Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; Be Thou forever near me, my Master and my friend: I shall not fear the battle if Thou art by my side, nor wander from the pathway if Thou will be my guide.

O let me feel Thee near me, the world is ever near; I see the sights that dazzle, the tempting sounds I hear: My foes are ever near me, around me and within; But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer, and shield my soul from sin.

O Jesus, Thou has promised to all who follow Thee, that where Thou art in glory, there shall Thy servant be; And, Jesus, I have promised to serve Thee to the end; O give me grace to follow my Master and my Friend.

Lord, Speak to Me

Lord, Speak to Me

It’s important to speak as Jesus speaks, to seek out those who are lost and to teach them the words that Jesus gives us to share. It’s important to take in the fullness of His love and wait upon the day that we can be with Him in heaven.

Lyrics by Frances R. Havergal, arranged by Robert Schumans

“Lord, speak to me. That I may speak in living echoes of Thy tone; As Thou has sought, so let me seek Thy erring children lost and lone.

O teach me, Lord, that I may teach the precious things Thou dost impart; And wing my words, that they may reach the hidden depths of many a heart.

O fill me with Thy fullness Lord, until my very heart overflow in kindling thought and glowing word, Thy love to tell, Thy praise to show.

O use me, Lord, use even me, just as Thou will, and when and where; Until Thy blessed face I see, Thy rest, Thy joy, Thy glorious share.”

I Would Be Like Jesus

I Would Be Like Jesus

My goal in life is to hear the words “Well done, thy good and faithful servant.” That means all my earthly pleasures that I had dealt with in my past, I have given up to be more like Jesus. My servitude is for Jesus and because of Jesus. I will tell everyone that needs to know that what I do, I do because God has put it in me to do it. I want to be more like Jesus everyday so that I will hear the words that I long to hear.

Lyrics by James Rowe, arranged by Bentley D. Ackley

“Earthy pleasures vainly call me; I would be like Jesus; Nothing worldly shall enthrall me; I would be like Jesus.

He has broken every fetter, I would be like Jesus; That my soul may serve Him better, I would be more like Jesus.

All the way from earth to Glory, I would be like Jesus; Telling over and over the story, I would be like Jesus.

That in heaven He may meet me, I would be like Jesus; That His words “Well done”, may greet me, I would be like Jesus.

Be like Jesus, this my song, in the home and in the throng; Be like Jesus, all day long! I would be like Jesus. Amen!

More Holiness Give Me

More Holiness Give Me

The operative word in this song is MORE. There is never enough of what we can derive from our walk with Jesus. God gives us the strength to overcome our weaknesses and the sorrow for the sin that Jesus died for. He gives us the opportunity to know Him in His word, and relish in His care for us. He gives us hope for a better life and home in heaven. It all boils down to our Faith in our Savior.

Lyrics by Philip P. Bliss, arranged by Philip P. Bliss

“More holiness give me, more striving within; More patience in suffering, more sorrow for sin; More faith in my Savior, more sense of His care; More joy in His service, more purpose in prayers.

More gratitude give me, more trust in the Lord; More pride in His glory, more hope in His word; More tears for His sorrows, more pain at His grief; More meekness in trial, more praise for relief.

More purity give me, more strength to overcome; More freedom from earth stains, more longings for home; More fit for the kingdom, more used would I be; More blessed and holy, more, Savior, like Thee.

Revive Us Again

Revive Us Again

We read repeatedly how the Israelites had worshiped God and then turned to idols. Then came a revival where they turned back to God after much hardship. One would think that throughout the ages mankind would have gotten the message. Bad things happen when we turn our backs on God. This world is in much need of a revival. Like the Israelites, man has relied more on self than God. If we want to keep our land safe, we need to turn back to God and give up our idols. Our idol is anything we put before God. God should always be first in our life.

Lyrics by William P. Mackay, arranged by John J. Howard

“We praise thee, O God! For the Son of Thy love, for Jesus who died, and is now gone above.

We praise Thee, O God! For Thy spirit of light, who has shown us our Savior, and scattered our night.

All glory and praise to the Lamb that was slain, who has borne all our sins, and has cleansed every stain.

Revive us again; fill each heart with Thy love; May each soul be rekindled with fire from above.

Hallelujah! Thine the glory, Hallelujah! Amen! Hallelujah! Thine the glory; Revive us again.

Nearer, Still Nearer

Nearer, Still Nearer

The closer we get to Jesus, the more blessed we will be. He will shelter us and give us rest. We don’t have to do anything except accept Jesus’ grace and believe that Jesus was crucified to save us from our sins and grant us forgiveness. He loves us so much that we yearn to be nearer, still nearer to Him.

Lyrics by Leila N. Morris, arranged by Leila N. Morris

“Nearer, still nearer, close to Thy heart, draw me, my Savior, so precious Thou art; Fold me, o fold me, close to Thy breast, shelter me safe in that “haven of rest”, shelter me safe in that “haven of rest.

Nearer, still nearer, nothing I bring, naught as an offering to Jesus my King; Only my sinful, now contrite heart, grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart, grant me the cleansing Thy blood doth impart.

Nearer, still nearer, Lord, to be Thine, sin, with its follies, I gladly resign; All of its pleasures, pomp and its pride, give me but Jesus, my Lord crucified, give me but Jesus, my Lord crucified.

Nearer, still nearer, while life shall last, till safe in glory my anchor is cast; Through endless ages, ever to be, Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee. Nearer, my Savior, still nearer to Thee.

I Need Jesus

I need Jesus

More than anything in life, I need Jesus. Jesus is my comfort in times of distress. He is my friend when I am lonely, He is my provider when I am in need. He is my warrior who fights my fights for me. There is no time in my life that I don’t need Jesus. He surpasses every friend here on earth and no one can fill my needs as Jesus can.

Lyrics by George O. Webster, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“I need Jesus, my need I now confess; No friend like Him in times of deep distress; I need Jesus, the need I gladly own; Though some may bear their load alone, yet I need Jesus.

I need Jesus, I need a friend like Him, a friend to guide when paths of life are dim; I need Jesus, when foes my soul assail; Alone I know I can but fail, so I need Jesus.

I need Jesus, I need Him to the end; No one like Him, He is the sinner’s friend; I need Jesus, no other friend will do; So constant, kind, so strong and true, yes, I need Jesus.

I need Jesus, I need Jesus, I need Jesus every day; Need Him in the sunshine hour, Need Him when the storm clouds lower; Ever day along my way, yes, I need Jesus.

Draw Me Nearer

Draw Me Nearer

If you want to hear God’s voice, if you want to draw nearer to Him, then you need to be in His word. God tells us who He is and how we can hear His voice in the scriptures. He tells us how to draw nearer to Him and beckons us to listen and wear His words on our sleeves. We will never know everything about God or understand all His ways but His words in the Bible helps us to navigate life towards meeting Him in the heavens where we will know and understand all things.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, Arranged by William H. Duane

“I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, and it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith  and be closer drawn to Thee.

Consecrate me now to Thy service , Lord, by the power of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will is lost in Thine.

Oh, the pure delight of a single hour that before Thy throne I spend, when I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!

There are depths of love that I cannot know till I cross the narrow sea; There are heights of joy that I may not reach till I rest in peace with Thee.

Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord, to the cross where Thou has died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to Thy precious healing side.

Something For Thee

Something For Thee

When we are baptized and we become a Christian (Christ-like), we make a promise to God. We promise God that we will Love Him with all our heart, mind and soul. We promise to give up our sinful ways and follow Jesus. We are giving back something to God for all the blessings He has and will give to us. He gave His life for you, what will you give back to Him?

Lyrics by Sylvanus D. Phelps, arranged by Robert Lowery

“Savior, Thy dying love Thou gave to me, nor should I aught withhold, Dear Lord, from Thee; In love my soul would bow, my heart fulfill it’s vow, some offering bring Thee now, something for Thee.

At the blest mercy seat, pleading for me, my feeble faith looks up, Jesus, to Thee; Help me the crown to bear, thy wondrous love declare, some song to raise, or prayer, something for Thee.

Give me a faithful heart, likeness to Thee, that each departing day henceforth may see some work of love begun, some deed of kindness done, some wanderer sought and won, something for Thee.

All that I am and have, Thy gifts so free, in joy, in grief, through life, Dear Lord, for Thee! And when Thy face I see, my ransomed soul shall be, through all eternity, Something for Thee.

Higher Ground

Higher Ground

This world is not our own, we are just passing through. God tells us that we may be in the world, but we need not be of the world. As Christians, our calling is to be set apart from the world. We do not follow the sins of others, but we plant our feet on solid ground where Christ reigns and we look forward to the day we leave this world to stand on higher ground. We live as though we will be with the saints in heaven singing at the throne of God.

Lyrics by Johnson Oatman, Jr., arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“I’m pressing on the upward way, new heights I’m gaining every day; Still praying as I’m onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

My heart has no desire to stay where doubts arise and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound, my prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world, though satan’s darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height and catch a gleam of glory bright; But still I’ll pray till Heaven I’ve found, “Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up and let me stand, by faith, on Heaven’s table land. A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

"Are Ye Able," said the Master

“Are Ye Able,” Said the Master

“Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And so said all the disciples. Matthew 26:35. Would that have been you if Jesus told you He would die tonight? Do you love Jesus so much that you would be willing to be crucified with Him? Do you remember the thief on the cross next to Jesus that he went with Jesus to Paradise? Could you have been so merciful? Submit your spirit to God and let His peace rest in you.

Lyrics by Earl Maratt, arranged by Harry S. Mason

“Are you able.” Said the Master, “to be crucified with me?” “Yea.” The sturdy dreamers answered.” To the death we follow Thee.”

“Are you able” to remember. When a thief lifts up his eyes, his pardoned soul is worthy of a place in paradise?

“Are you able” when the shadows close around you with the sod to believe that spirit triumphs to commend your soul to God?

“Are you able?” Still the Master whispers down eternity and heroic spirits answer now, as then in Galilee.

“Lord, we are able,” Our spirits are Thine, Remold them, make us, like Thee, divine. Thy guiding radiance above us shall be a beacon to God, To love and loyalty.

I Would Be True

I would be True

In life there are many people who put their trust in others; therefore, we must be trustworthy. There are those who care for one another, therefore we must be pure and gentle in heart. We must walk the path that Christ has walked before us so that we would be the best example to those who need Christ in their life.

Lyrics by Howard A. Walter, arranged by Joseph Yates Peek

“I would be true, for there are those who trust me, I would be pure, for there are those who care; I would be strong, for there is much to suffer; I would be brave, for there is much to dare; I would be brave, for there is much to dare.

I would be friend of all the foe, the friendless; I would be giving, and forget the gift; I would be humble, for I know my weakness; I would look up, and laugh, and love, and lift; I would look up, and laugh, and love, and lift.

I would be prayerful through each busy moment; I would be constantly in touch with God; I would be tuned to hear His slightest whisper; I would have faith to keep the path Christ trod; I would have faith to keep the path Christ trod.”

Living For Jesus

Living For Jesus

We all have a mission in life. Mine is a ministry to serve the Lord and all that He puts before me. This song speaks my ministry. My life is nothing without Jesus and I gladly let Him lead me. He gave up His life for me, so I want to give my life to Him in service. There are many blessings in living for Jesus and many peaceful nights in knowing that He is constant with me.

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, arranged by C. Harold Lowden

“Living for Jesus a life that is true, striving to please Him in all that I do; Yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free. This is the pathway of blessing for me.

Living for Jesus who died in my place, bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace; Such love constrains me to answer His call. Follow His leading and give Him my all.

Living for Jesus wherever I am. Doing each duty to His Holy name; Willing to suffer affliction and loss. Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Living for Jesus through earth’s little while, my dearest treasure, the light of His smile; Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem, bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

O Jesus Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee, for Thou, in Thy atonement, did give Thyself for me; I own no other Master, My heart shall be Thy throne, hence-forth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.”

Who at My Door is Standing

Who at My Door is Standing

Jesus is knocking at your door. How long are you going to make Him wait? He is lonely out there and you are lonely inside. Why not join Him and let Him abide with you? Times can be dark and dreary without Him. Let Him in and the light will brighten everything around you. He’s calling you and waiting, He will not pass you by.

Lyrics by Mary B.C. Slade, arranged by Asa B. Everett

“ Who at my door is standing, patiently drawing near, Entrance within demanding? Whose is the voice I hear?

Lonely without He’s staying, Lonely within am I; While I am still delaying, will He not pass me by?

All through the dark hours dreary, knocking again is He; Jesus, art Thou not weary, waiting so long for me?

Door of my heart, I hasten! Thee will I open wide, Though He rebuke and chasten, He shall with me abide.

Sweetly the tones are falling; “Open the door for me! If thou wilt heed my calling, I will abide with thee.”

My Savior First of All

My Savior First of All

When we die and go to heaven, the first person we will see is Jesus. He is waiting for us and knows just the right time to meet us. Can you imagine seeing Jesus face to face? I believe our hearts will be so full of joy that we won’t be able to stop thanking Him for His mercy and grace. We will be so excited and overjoyed to walk with Him to the mansion He has prepared for us. It will be better than anything we can possibly imagine. Think of all the wonderful things that will be in heaven and rejoice that you know Him.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by John R. Sweney

“When my lifework is ended and I cross the swelling tide, when the bright and glorious morning I shall see; I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side, and His smile will be the first to welcome me.

Oh, the soul-thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face, and the luster of His kindly beaming eye; How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love, and grace, that prepare for me a mansion in the sky.

Oh, the dear ones in glory, how they beckon me to come, and our parting at the river I recall; To the sweet vales of Eden, they will sing my welcome home; But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

Through the gates to the city in a robe of spotless white, He will lead me where no tears will ever fall; In the glad song of ages, I shall mingle with delight; But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him, and redeemed by His side I shall stand, I shall know Him, I shall know Him by the print of the nails in His hand.”

The Sands of Time

The Sands of Time

The longer we live, the closer we get to the end of times. It seems dark and dreary at times, but dawn always comes and we have hope in what is ahead of us. We might like fresh water here, but in heaven it is the freshest, sweetest, tastiest. It is God’s love. The Lamb is all the glory.

Lyrics by Ann Ross Cousin, arranged by Edward F. Rimbault

“The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks; The summer morn I’ve sighed for, the fair, sweet morn awakes; Dark, dark hath been the midnight, but dayspring is at hand, and glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

O Christ! He is the fountain, the deep, sweet well of love! The streams on earth I’ve tasted, more deep I’ll drink above; There,  to an  ocean fulness, His mercy doth expand, and glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

Oh, I am my beloved’s and my Beloved’s mine, He brings a poor vile sinner into His “house of wine.” I stand upon His merit, I know no other stand, not even where glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

The bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom’s face, I will not gaze at glory, but on my King of grace. Not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand, the Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel’s land.

Holy Bible, Book Divine

Holy Bible, Book Divine

There is no better book than the Bible and I am super happy that I own one. It is a treasure to read repeatedly because you learn something new every time. You learn about God, and He teaches us about ourselves. He shows us His love and lets us know when we begin to slip away from Him. He guides and protects us, and comforts us through our pain and struggles. This book is everlasting and has survived for as long as it was written until now. If you haven’t read it, then you are missing out on knowing what salvation means. Proverbs is a good book to read with one chapter a day, each day of the month. It teaches us how we should live.

Lyrics by John Burton, arranged by William B. Bradbury

“Holy Bible, book divine, precious treasure, thou are mine; Mine to tell me whence I come, Mine to teach me what I am.

Mine to chide me when I rove, mine to show a Saviors love, Mine thou art to guide and guard, Mine to punish or reward.

Mine to comfort in distress, suffering in this wilderness, mine to show by living faith, Man can triumph over death.

Mine to tell of joys to come, and the rebel sinner’s doom; O thou Holy Book divine, precious treasure, thou art mine.”

Cleanse Me

Cleanse Me

Psalm 139:23. This song is based off this scripture. You’ve heard the saying, “Don’t pray for patience or your patience will be tried.” This song asks the Lord to search for any wrongs we might have done. We have all done something that we may not be aware of. When we pray this prayer, God opens our hearts and minds to our faults, and we seek Him to cleanse us of these faults. He opens our wounds so that we will be aware of them and He proceeds to heal us from within. Whether it be a bad attitude, selfishness, greed or anything that goes against God’s will for us. If we want to better ourselves, this is the prayer to pray.

Lyrics by J. Edwin Orr, arranged by Maori Melody

“Search me, O God, and know my heart today; Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray; See if there be some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin; Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within; Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame; Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine; Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine; Take all my will, my passion, self and pride; I now surrender; Lord, in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee; Send a revival start the work in me; Thy word declares Thou wilt supply our need; For blessing now, O Lord, I humbly plead.”

In The Hollow of His Hand

In The Hollow of His Hand

God has surely made His promises and if you read His words, you know He has always kept His promises. One of those promises is that He will never leave us or forsake us. However, if we are not one of His children, but a follower of Satan, He does not hold you in the palm of His hand. He is, however, waiting with open arms for you to come to Him. Being one of His children, we have the blessing of His protection and His wisdom. He gives the peace that passes all understanding. We can rely on Him to always be there for us.

Lyrics William M. Runyan, arranged by George S. Schuler

“Our God has given promise – and His grace for this has planned; His child shall rest securely in the hollow of His hand.

O soul, be thou not troubled, though thou does not understand; No turmoil shall molest thee in the hollow of His hand.

Even though stern duty calls thee, and each day make full demand, the soul may find its shelter in the hollow of His hand.

The joy that passes knowledge, peace that none can understand, for thee, for thee are waiting in the hollow of His hand.

Let come what may, or wave, or tempest “Peace be still!” tis His command; My soul is held in peace eternal in the hollow of His hand.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

We don’t know what will happen tomorrow, nor do we know how this day will turn out. We do know that God knows tomorrow and all His plans are good. It’s important to live minute by minute, day by day, for worrying about tomorrow won’t get us anywhere. God tells us not to worry about tomorrow, for today is sufficient. He also tells us not to say, “I am going to do this, or that” without first saying, “if God wills.” Trust in Jesus, He alone knows what lies ahead.

Lyrics by Ira Stanphill, arranged by Ira Stanphill

“I don’t know about tomorrow, I just live from day to – day. I don’t borrow from the sunshine, for its skies may turn to gray. I don’t worry over the future, for I know what Jesus said. And today I’ll walk beside Him, for He knows what lies ahead.

Every step is getting brighter, as the golden stairs I climb. Every burden’s getting lighter; every cloud is silver lined. There the sun is always shining. There no tear will dim the eye, At the ending of the rainbow where the mountains touch the sky.

I don’t know about tomorrow , it may bring me poverty. But the one who feeds the sparrow is the one who stands by me. And the path that be my portion, may be through the flame or flood. But His presence goes before me, and I’m covered with His blood.

Many things about tomorrow I don’t seem to understand; But I know who holds tomorrow, and I know He holds my hand.”

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

Precious Lord, Take My Hand

I believe that the hardest job is to be a caretaker for a loved one. My husband, when he was dying wanted me to hold his hand every night. After he slept, I went to my bed and imagined Jesus holding my hand. For both my husband and me it was a comfort we both needed. There were days when we both felt weak and worn out. Today, my husband walks hand in hand with our Lord and someday, I too, will be walking with Jesus. Hold on to Him because He will never let go. If you don’t feel it, maybe you have let go of His hand. Return to His waiting hand and never let go again. He offers peace and comfort. He renews us when we need it.

Lyrics by Thomas A. Dorsey, arranged by Thomas A. Dorsey

“Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, help me stand; I am tired, I am weak, I am worn; Through the storm, through the night, lead me on to the light, take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

When my way grows drear, Precious Lord, linger near; When my life is almost gone, hear my cry, hear my call, hold my hand lest I fall; take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.

His Eye is on The Sparrow

His Eye is on The Sparrow

When we have a relationship with Jesus, we know that He watches over us. In fact, He watches over all His creation, and He provides for all of it. There is no reason to be discouraged or fearful when we know that God is watching over us. We can rest in His goodness and draw closer to Him by reading His Word and getting to know Him. It is great to know that someone with higher power has us in His sight.

Lyrics by Civilla D. Martin, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come, why should my heart be lonely and long for heaven and home, when Jesus is my portion? His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear, and resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Though by the path He leads but one step I may see; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise, when songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies, I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me, I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, for His ey is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.”

He Hideth My Soul

He Hideth My Soul

We have a wonderful Savior that blesses us every day of our lives. He showers us with His love and kindness and fights our fights for us. He eases our burdens and turns them into blessings. He’s our great Redeemer and we should be looking forward to being with Him in heaven. God is good all the time and all the time He is good.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by William J. Kirkpatrick

“A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord, a wonderful Savior to me, He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock, where rivers of pleasure I see.

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord, He taketh my burden away, He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved, He giveth me strength as my day.

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns, and filled with His fullness divine, I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God for such a Redeemer is mine!

When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise to meet Him in clouds of the sky, His perfect salvation, His wonderful love, I’ll shout with the millions on high.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock that shadows a dry, thirsty land; He hideth my life in the depths of His love, and covers me there with His hand, and covers me there with His hand.”

Trust in The Lord

Trust in The Lord

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all  your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6. God doesn’t look at things as we see them. He sees things as they are. He looks at our hearts while we tend to look on the outside appearance, and our judgments are based on the physical. God looks at things from a spiritual perspective. If we trust in God, there is no reason to be afraid. He will guide and direct us. He will protect us.

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, arranged by Wendell P. Loveless

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart,” This is God’s gracious command; “in all thy ways acknowledge Him, so shalt thou dwell in the land.”

“Trust in the Lord” who rules all, see all things as they are, be it a birdling in its nest, or yonder the uttermost star.

“Trust in the Lord” and peaceful be, fret not thy spirit in vain, what though the answer tarries long, still shall thou praise Him again.

“Trust in the Lord” His eye will guide all through the pathway ahead, He has redeemed and He will keep, Trust Him and be not afraid.

“Trust in the Lord,” O troubled soul, rest in the arms of His care; Whatever thy lot, it matters not, for nothing can trouble thee there; “Trust in the Lord,” O troubled soul, nothing can trouble thee there.

Trusting Jesus

Trusting Jesus

What does it mean to trust in God? It means believing that God Loves us and He wants the very best for us. It means that whether we are in the midst of a storm, or in the process of falling away from our relationship with Jesus, that God is still there, always will be and is waiting for us to come back to Him and trust Him that the storm will soon pass and He is with you in it. It means He will guide and direct us through our paths of life. Trusting that all things work out for the good for those who trust Him.

Lyrics by Edgar P. Stites, arranged by Ira D. Sankey

“Simply trusting every day, trusting through a stormy way; Even when my faith is small, trusting Jesus, that is all.

Brightly does His Spirit shine into this pour heart of mine; While He leads I cannot fail, trusting Jesus, that is all.

Singing if my way is clear; Praying if the path be drear; If in danger, for Him call; Trusting Jesus, that is all.

Trusting Him while life shall last, trusting Him till earth be past; Till within the jasper wall, trusting Jesus, that is all.

Trusting as the moments fly, trusting as the days go by; Trusting Him whatever befall, trusting Jesus, that is all.”

Rock of Ages

Rock of Ages

Jesus is our rock; He alone can hide us and keep us safe. He alone can cleanse us with His blood. There is nothing He needs, nothing we can do that will keep Him from loving us and He alone can give us grace. We must give ourselves to Him so that we can reach His throne. He alone can save us from our guilt and shame.

Lyrics by Augustus M. Toplady, arranged by Thomas Hastings

“Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee; let the water and the blood, from Thy riven side which flowed. Be of sin the double cure, save me from its guilt and power.

Not the labors of my hands can fulfill Thy law’s demands; could my zeal no respite know, could my tears forever flow, all for sin could not atone; Thou must save, and Thou alone.

Nothing in my hand I bring, simply to Thy cross I cling; Naked, come to Thee for dress; Helpless, look to Thee for grace; Foul, I to the fountain fly, wash me, Savior or I die!

While I draw this fleeting breath, when mine eyes shall close in death, when I soar to worlds unknown, see Thee on Thy judgment throne. Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee.
