Solomon's Renown I Kings 4

I Kings 4 – Solomon’s Renown

Solomon had eleven princes. Some of them were apparently the sons of David which would mean they were Solomon’s nephews. He had twelve officers. Each officer came from the tribe of Israel. They were in charge of providing the needs of the king and his household. This was Solomon’s method of taxation.

This was a time of security and safety, something which we do not have in this world today. “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” Isa. 57:21. But peace is coming on the earth when the Prince of Peace comes.

Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses.  The horse was the animal of war, and God had forbidden the multiplication of horses. Solomon had multiplied both horses and wives.

Solomon spoke three thousand proverbs. We have only a few hundred recorded in the Bible. His songs were a thousand and five. We have only one of his songs, The Song of Solomon.

Solomon gained a worldwide reputation for his wisdom, and many came to hear him.
