Job
3. Job Talks
After
sitting in silence with his friends for seven days, Job begins to speak. In
essence he says, “I wish I hadn’t been born.” One may wish that they could die,
but they will not die by wishing. Knowing that, Job goes on to say that he
wishes he had been born stillborn. He describes death as a great equalizer. All
sleep equally. Job finds no relief from his misery.
He
claims that life is such a burden. He would welcome death like a miner who is
digging for gold and gives a shout of joy when he finds it.
Job
had been dwelling in peace and prosperity in the land of Uz, and things had
been going well with him. Everyone was saying, “Look at Job. He certainly has a
wonderful life.” Job says, “At that very moment, I was living in fear. And the
thing that I dreaded has come upon me.”
That
is a fear of a great many people. They fear that something terrible is going to
happen to them. Instead of turning to other things. We need to rest upon the
Word of God.
Job
has not lost his faith. He just doesn’t understand why trouble has come upon him
and doesn’t understand at all why it should have come.
When
trouble does come upon us, instead of saying why me, Lord. Ask the Lord what it
is He wants you to learn from this. Remember God has a plan for You and it is
the perfect plan.
