Esther
8 A New Decree
Although
Haman is dead, the threat of death still hangs over every Jew. Because the
decree is a law of the Medes and Persians it cannot be changed.
Esther
lets it be known that Mordecai was her adoptive father. She tells him of
Mordecai but also pleads for the Jews. She said, “let it be written to reverse
the letters devised by Haman to destroy the Jews.
Then
the king’s scribes were brought in, and letters were written according to all
that Mordecai commanded to the Jews. They were written in every language of the
kingdom. He wrote it in King Xerxes name and sealed it with the king’s ring.
The
original decree is not altered in any way. But the new decree feels their
hearts with joy and gladness. They can now fight and save their lives. If they
receive the message in time, and believe it, they can be saved.
“If
God be for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31.
This
may be the last time you will have the opportunity to accept Christ as Savior.
Now is the accepted time to believe.
Haman’s
decree produced sorrow, and the king’s decree produced joy.
Jesus
is the Light of the world. He also is gladness, and joy, and honor of the
world. Come to Christ and He will give you something to be glad about.
