Something For Thee

Something For Thee

When we are baptized and we become a Christian (Christ-like), we make a promise to God. We promise God that we will Love Him with all our heart, mind and soul. We promise to give up our sinful ways and follow Jesus. We are giving back something to God for all the blessings He has and will give to us. He gave His life for you, what will you give back to Him?

Lyrics by Sylvanus D. Phelps, arranged by Robert Lowery

“Savior, Thy dying love Thou gave to me, nor should I aught withhold, Dear Lord, from Thee; In love my soul would bow, my heart fulfill it’s vow, some offering bring Thee now, something for Thee.

At the blest mercy seat, pleading for me, my feeble faith looks up, Jesus, to Thee; Help me the crown to bear, thy wondrous love declare, some song to raise, or prayer, something for Thee.

Give me a faithful heart, likeness to Thee, that each departing day henceforth may see some work of love begun, some deed of kindness done, some wanderer sought and won, something for Thee.

All that I am and have, Thy gifts so free, in joy, in grief, through life, Dear Lord, for Thee! And when Thy face I see, my ransomed soul shall be, through all eternity, Something for Thee.

Higher Ground

Higher Ground

This world is not our own, we are just passing through. God tells us that we may be in the world, but we need not be of the world. As Christians, our calling is to be set apart from the world. We do not follow the sins of others, but we plant our feet on solid ground where Christ reigns and we look forward to the day we leave this world to stand on higher ground. We live as though we will be with the saints in heaven singing at the throne of God.

Lyrics by Johnson Oatman, Jr., arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“I’m pressing on the upward way, new heights I’m gaining every day; Still praying as I’m onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

My heart has no desire to stay where doubts arise and fears dismay; Though some may dwell where these abound, my prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

I want to live above the world, though satan’s darts at me are hurled; For faith has caught the joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground.

I want to scale the utmost height and catch a gleam of glory bright; But still I’ll pray till Heaven I’ve found, “Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”

Lord, lift me up and let me stand, by faith, on Heaven’s table land. A higher plane than I have found; Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

"Are Ye Able," said the Master

“Are Ye Able,” Said the Master

“Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And so said all the disciples. Matthew 26:35. Would that have been you if Jesus told you He would die tonight? Do you love Jesus so much that you would be willing to be crucified with Him? Do you remember the thief on the cross next to Jesus that he went with Jesus to Paradise? Could you have been so merciful? Submit your spirit to God and let His peace rest in you.

Lyrics by Earl Maratt, arranged by Harry S. Mason

“Are you able.” Said the Master, “to be crucified with me?” “Yea.” The sturdy dreamers answered.” To the death we follow Thee.”

“Are you able” to remember. When a thief lifts up his eyes, his pardoned soul is worthy of a place in paradise?

“Are you able” when the shadows close around you with the sod to believe that spirit triumphs to commend your soul to God?

“Are you able?” Still the Master whispers down eternity and heroic spirits answer now, as then in Galilee.

“Lord, we are able,” Our spirits are Thine, Remold them, make us, like Thee, divine. Thy guiding radiance above us shall be a beacon to God, To love and loyalty.

I Would Be True

I would be True

In life there are many people who put their trust in others; therefore, we must be trustworthy. There are those who care for one another, therefore we must be pure and gentle in heart. We must walk the path that Christ has walked before us so that we would be the best example to those who need Christ in their life.

Lyrics by Howard A. Walter, arranged by Joseph Yates Peek

“I would be true, for there are those who trust me, I would be pure, for there are those who care; I would be strong, for there is much to suffer; I would be brave, for there is much to dare; I would be brave, for there is much to dare.

I would be friend of all the foe, the friendless; I would be giving, and forget the gift; I would be humble, for I know my weakness; I would look up, and laugh, and love, and lift; I would look up, and laugh, and love, and lift.

I would be prayerful through each busy moment; I would be constantly in touch with God; I would be tuned to hear His slightest whisper; I would have faith to keep the path Christ trod; I would have faith to keep the path Christ trod.”

Living For Jesus

Living For Jesus

We all have a mission in life. Mine is a ministry to serve the Lord and all that He puts before me. This song speaks my ministry. My life is nothing without Jesus and I gladly let Him lead me. He gave up His life for me, so I want to give my life to Him in service. There are many blessings in living for Jesus and many peaceful nights in knowing that He is constant with me.

Lyrics by Thomas O. Chisholm, arranged by C. Harold Lowden

“Living for Jesus a life that is true, striving to please Him in all that I do; Yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free. This is the pathway of blessing for me.

Living for Jesus who died in my place, bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace; Such love constrains me to answer His call. Follow His leading and give Him my all.

Living for Jesus wherever I am. Doing each duty to His Holy name; Willing to suffer affliction and loss. Deeming each trial a part of my cross.

Living for Jesus through earth’s little while, my dearest treasure, the light of His smile; Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem, bringing the weary to find rest in Him.

O Jesus Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee, for Thou, in Thy atonement, did give Thyself for me; I own no other Master, My heart shall be Thy throne, hence-forth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.”

Who at My Door is Standing

Who at My Door is Standing

Jesus is knocking at your door. How long are you going to make Him wait? He is lonely out there and you are lonely inside. Why not join Him and let Him abide with you? Times can be dark and dreary without Him. Let Him in and the light will brighten everything around you. He’s calling you and waiting, He will not pass you by.

Lyrics by Mary B.C. Slade, arranged by Asa B. Everett

“ Who at my door is standing, patiently drawing near, Entrance within demanding? Whose is the voice I hear?

Lonely without He’s staying, Lonely within am I; While I am still delaying, will He not pass me by?

All through the dark hours dreary, knocking again is He; Jesus, art Thou not weary, waiting so long for me?

Door of my heart, I hasten! Thee will I open wide, Though He rebuke and chasten, He shall with me abide.

Sweetly the tones are falling; “Open the door for me! If thou wilt heed my calling, I will abide with thee.”

My Savior First of All

My Savior First of All

When we die and go to heaven, the first person we will see is Jesus. He is waiting for us and knows just the right time to meet us. Can you imagine seeing Jesus face to face? I believe our hearts will be so full of joy that we won’t be able to stop thanking Him for His mercy and grace. We will be so excited and overjoyed to walk with Him to the mansion He has prepared for us. It will be better than anything we can possibly imagine. Think of all the wonderful things that will be in heaven and rejoice that you know Him.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by John R. Sweney

“When my lifework is ended and I cross the swelling tide, when the bright and glorious morning I shall see; I shall know my Redeemer when I reach the other side, and His smile will be the first to welcome me.

Oh, the soul-thrilling rapture when I view His blessed face, and the luster of His kindly beaming eye; How my full heart will praise Him for the mercy, love, and grace, that prepare for me a mansion in the sky.

Oh, the dear ones in glory, how they beckon me to come, and our parting at the river I recall; To the sweet vales of Eden, they will sing my welcome home; But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

Through the gates to the city in a robe of spotless white, He will lead me where no tears will ever fall; In the glad song of ages, I shall mingle with delight; But I long to meet my Savior first of all.

I shall know Him, I shall know Him, and redeemed by His side I shall stand, I shall know Him, I shall know Him by the print of the nails in His hand.”

The Sands of Time

The Sands of Time

The longer we live, the closer we get to the end of times. It seems dark and dreary at times, but dawn always comes and we have hope in what is ahead of us. We might like fresh water here, but in heaven it is the freshest, sweetest, tastiest. It is God’s love. The Lamb is all the glory.

Lyrics by Ann Ross Cousin, arranged by Edward F. Rimbault

“The sands of time are sinking, the dawn of heaven breaks; The summer morn I’ve sighed for, the fair, sweet morn awakes; Dark, dark hath been the midnight, but dayspring is at hand, and glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

O Christ! He is the fountain, the deep, sweet well of love! The streams on earth I’ve tasted, more deep I’ll drink above; There,  to an  ocean fulness, His mercy doth expand, and glory, glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

Oh, I am my beloved’s and my Beloved’s mine, He brings a poor vile sinner into His “house of wine.” I stand upon His merit, I know no other stand, not even where glory dwelleth in Immanuel’s land.

The bride eyes not her garment, but her dear Bridegroom’s face, I will not gaze at glory, but on my King of grace. Not at the crown He giveth, but on His pierced hand, the Lamb is all the glory of Immanuel’s land.

Holy Bible, Book Divine

Holy Bible, Book Divine

There is no better book than the Bible and I am super happy that I own one. It is a treasure to read repeatedly because you learn something new every time. You learn about God, and He teaches us about ourselves. He shows us His love and lets us know when we begin to slip away from Him. He guides and protects us, and comforts us through our pain and struggles. This book is everlasting and has survived for as long as it was written until now. If you haven’t read it, then you are missing out on knowing what salvation means. Proverbs is a good book to read with one chapter a day, each day of the month. It teaches us how we should live.

Lyrics by John Burton, arranged by William B. Bradbury

“Holy Bible, book divine, precious treasure, thou are mine; Mine to tell me whence I come, Mine to teach me what I am.

Mine to chide me when I rove, mine to show a Saviors love, Mine thou art to guide and guard, Mine to punish or reward.

Mine to comfort in distress, suffering in this wilderness, mine to show by living faith, Man can triumph over death.

Mine to tell of joys to come, and the rebel sinner’s doom; O thou Holy Book divine, precious treasure, thou art mine.”

Cleanse Me

Cleanse Me

Psalm 139:23. This song is based off this scripture. You’ve heard the saying, “Don’t pray for patience or your patience will be tried.” This song asks the Lord to search for any wrongs we might have done. We have all done something that we may not be aware of. When we pray this prayer, God opens our hearts and minds to our faults, and we seek Him to cleanse us of these faults. He opens our wounds so that we will be aware of them and He proceeds to heal us from within. Whether it be a bad attitude, selfishness, greed or anything that goes against God’s will for us. If we want to better ourselves, this is the prayer to pray.

Lyrics by J. Edwin Orr, arranged by Maori Melody

“Search me, O God, and know my heart today; Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray; See if there be some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.

I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin; Fulfill Thy Word and make me pure within; Fill me with fire, where once I burned with shame; Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.

Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine; Fill my poor heart with Thy great love divine; Take all my will, my passion, self and pride; I now surrender; Lord, in me abide.

O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee; Send a revival start the work in me; Thy word declares Thou wilt supply our need; For blessing now, O Lord, I humbly plead.”
