Into My Heart

Into My Heart

We all need Jesus to come into our heart. There are so many days that we feel weary, burdened down with guilt, and deeply depressed. When we ask Jesus to come into our heart, He eases all our burdens, forgives all our sins and His Spirit takes full control. He will cleanse our souls and comfort us always.

Lyrics by Harry D. Clarke, arranged by Harry D. Clarke

“Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, come into my heart I pray; My soul is so troubled and weary, come into my heart today,

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, I need Thee through life’s dreary way; The burden of sin is so heavy, come into my heart today.

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, and take all my guilt away; Then spotless I’ll stand in Thy presence, when breaks Thine eternal day.

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, O cleanse and illumine my soul; Fill me with Thy wonderful Spirit, come in and take full control.

Into my heart, into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus; Come in today, come in to stay, come into my heart, Lord Jesus.”

Onward Christian Soldiers

Onward Christian Soldiers

Every day we are in a battle against satan and his followers. We must rise together and defeat this enemy. We must show him we are stronger than Him. Jesus is our royal Master and He leads us in this battle. We will rise in victory against satan and we will triumph with Christ. We will sing praises and glorify God because we know the victory is won. Stand strong in the Lord and be triumphant.

Lyrics by Sabine Baring-Gould, arranged by Arthur S. Sullivan

“Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war. With the cross of Jesus going on before! Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle, see His banner go?

At the sign of triumph satan’s host does flee; On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise; Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!

Like a mighty army moves the church of God; Brothers we are treading where the saints have trod; We are not divided; All one body we, One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Onward then Ye people, join our happy throng. Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song; Glory, laud, and honor, unto Christ the King; This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward Christian soldier, marching as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before!

In Times Like These

In times Like These

These are hard times to live in. Sin runs amok  and no one seems to care. You name the sin and it’s at every corner. It is times like this that we need a Savior. He is our solid rock and if we don’t want to be part of the problem, we must do our best to be part of the solution. Christ is the solution and He has all the answers. Look to Him and follow Him. It is only through Him that we will see God.

Lyrics by Ruth Caye Jones, arranged by Ruth Caye Jones

“In times like these you need a Savior, in times like these you need an anchor; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

In times like these you need the Bible, in times like these, oh, be not idle; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

In times like these I have a Savior, in times like these, I have an anchor; I’m very sure, I’m very sure, my anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, yes, He’s the One, this Rock is Jesus, The only One.”

Rise Up, O men of God

Rise Up, O Men of God

Our men are the leaders of our church and family. They are called to lead us in worship and praise. They are called to be good ministers and live Godly lives among the church, society and at home. When our men live such a life for God, they look like Jesus in personality, in word and deed. The church is truly blessed to have good leaders in our worship.

Lyrics by William P. Merrill, arranged by Aaron Williams

“Rise up, O men of God! Have done with lesser things; Give heart and mind and soul and strength to serve the King of kings.

Rise up, O men of God! His kingdom tarries long; Bring in the day of brotherhood and end the night of wrong.

Rise up, O men of God! The church for you does wait; Her strength unequal to her task; Rise up and make her great!

Lift high the cross of Christ! Treat where His feet have trod; As brothers of the Son of man, Rise up, O men of God!”

My Soul, Be on Thy Guard

My Soul, Be on Thy Guard

There are bad influences and good influences. We as Christians must be careful of whom we associate with. It is easy to be swayed to do things that might look or feel good but are totally wrong. Satan is always about trying to use people to cause us to sin. Being close to Jesus always will keep us on the straight and narrow road. Keeping the faith and being obedient to God will help us obtain our place in heaven.

Lyrics by George Heath, arranged by Lowell Mason

“My soul, be on thy guard; Ten thousand foes arise; The hosts of sin are pressing hard to draw thee from the skies.

O watch, and fight, and pray; the battle never give over; Renew it boldly every day and help divine implore.

Never think the victory won, nor lay thine armor down; The work of faith will not be done, till thou obtain the crown.

Fight on, my soul, till death shall bring thee to thy God; He’ll take thee, at thy parting breath, to His divine abode.”

I Am Resolved

I Am Resolved

Today is the day to leave your sins in the past and be resolved to follow Jesus. He is the one that can forgive your sins, heal your pain and resolve your struggles. He is the most truthful and just person that can fulfill your needs. Make today your day to commit to Jesus and follow Him. He will set you free and guide you down the path to righteousness.

Lyrics by Palmer Hartsough, arranged by James H. Fillmore

“I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world’s delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler, these have allured my sight.

I am resolved to go to the Savior, leaving my sin and strife; He is the true One, He is the just One, He has the words of life.

I am resolved to follow the Savior, Faithful and true each day; Heed what He says, do what He wills, He is the living way.

I am resolved to enter the Kingdom, leaving the paths of sin; Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, still will I enter in.

I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free; Jesus, greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

Give of Your Best to the Master

Give of Your Best to the Master

What is your best? Let’s start in home. God gave us our children and expects us to raise them in the service of the Lord. As we grow and as they grow, our relationship with Jesus grows and our best is to teach the children the way of the Lord, so that they can pass on their knowledge onto the next generations. As we age, we start out active, then we tend to slow down later in life. Our best could end up being prayer warriors. We should always pray, no matter what age, but when that is all we have left, we give our best to the Master. Talk to Him and build on that relationship so that heaven is close to your heart.

Lyrics by Howard B. Grose, arranged by Charlotte A. Beenard

“Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth; Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor into the battle of truth. Jesus has set the example; Dauntless was He, young and brave; Give Him your loyal devotion, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Give Him first place in your heart; Give Him first place in your service, consecrate every part. Give and to you shall be given, God His beloved Son gave; Gratefully seeking so serve Him, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Naught else is worthy His love; He gave Himself for your ransom, Gave His glory above; Laid down His life without murmur, you from sin’s ruin to save; Give Him your heart’s adoration, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth; Clad in salvation’s full armor, join the battle for truth.

Jesus Bids Us Shine

Jesus Bids Us Shine

When others look at you, do they see Jesus or do they just see you? Jesus wants our light to shine so that when people look at us, they see Jesus in us. What does that look light? Jesus was kind, compassionate, loving, giving, forgiving, patient, and the list can go on. If we have these same characteristics then when others look at us, they see Jesus. Not only in our actions but also in our words. How many people have you told about Jesus. He is our friend; we need to introduce him to everyone we meet.

Lyrics by Susan Warner, arranged by Edwin O. Excell

“Jesus bids us shine, with a clear, pure light, like a little candle burning in the night; In this world of darkness we must shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, first of all for Him; Well He sees and knows it if our light is dim; He looks down from heaven, sees us shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, then, for all around many kinds of darkness in this world abound. Sin, and want, and sorrow we must shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, as we work for Him, bringing those that wander from the paths of sin; He will ever help us, if we shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Fight the Good fight

Fight the Good Fight

Tomorrow is not promised so live today as if it is your last day. “Whatever you do, do with all your might” Ecclesiastes 9:10 paraphrased. Run the straight and narrow race and look to Jesus. He will guide you on the right path. Leave your burdens behind and follow Him. God will provide. Believe in Him and you will witness firsthand the Love of God. Christ is all in all.

Lyrics by John S. B. Monsell, arranged by William Boyd

“Fight the good fight with all thy might! Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right; Lay hold on life, and it shall be thy joy and crown eternally.

Run the straight race through God’s good grace, lift up thine eyes, and seek His face; Life with its way before us lies, Christ is the path and Christ the prize.

Cast care aside, lean on thy guide, His boundless mercy will provide; Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove Christ is its life, and Christ its love.

Faint not nor fear, His arms are near, He changes not, and thou are dear; Only believe, and thou shall see that Christ is all in all to thee. Amen

Hold the Fort

Hold the Fort

There are physical wars, mental wars and spiritual wars. All of them are led by satan. Who better to turn to than Jesus Christ, Himself. God is the conqueror of all wars. We may have battles today that seem unending, but we know who wins the battles. Let God fight your fights for you. Don’t give in to satan for that is what he is here for. He is here to kill, steal and destroy. God is here to offer peace, Love and security.

Lyrics by Philip P. Bliss, arranged by Philip P. Bliss

“Ho, my comrades! See the signal wavering in the sky! Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

See the mighty host advancing, satan leading on; Mighty men around us falling. Courage almost gone!

See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow! In our Leader’s name we triumph over every foe.

Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near; Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades cheer!

“Hold the fort, for I am coming.” Jesus signals still; Wave the answer back to heaven. “By Thy grace we will.”

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The faith God requires of us for salvation is belief in what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Faith is trusting in His grace, and forgiveness of our sins. Faith is believing God will guide, guard and direct us. Faith is trusting that He will never leave us and He will always have our best interest at heart.

Lyrics by Ray Palmer, arranged by Lowell Mason

“My faith looks up to Thee, Thou lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away, O let me from this day be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart strength to my fainting heart, my zeal inspire; As Thou has died for me, O may my love to Thee pure, warm, and changeless be, a living Fire!

While life’s dark maze I tread, and griefs around me spread, be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn today, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, nor let me ever stray from Thee aside.

When ends life’s transient dream, when death’s cold, sullen stream shall over me roll; Blest Savior, then, in love, fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, a ransomed soul!

Jesus Calls Us

Jesus Calls Us

In this world we will have struggles and will get weary. Jesus calls us to look to Him when times are hard. It’s not bad to ask others for advice but Jesus wants us to search Him and His words, to put away the things and worldly suggestions that we adore more than Him. He wants us to lean on Him so that in our joys and sorrows, we will know that He cares for us and will grant us His mercy. Jesus calls us to follow Him and to love Him more than anything else.

Lyrics by Cecil F. Alexander, arranged by William H. Jude

“Jesus calls us; over the tumult of our life’s wild, restless sea, Day by day His sweet voice sounds, saying “Christian follow me.”

Jesus calls us from the worship of the vain world’s golden store, from each idol that would keep us, saying, Christian, “love me more.”

In our joys and in our sorrows, days of toil and hours of ease, still He calls, in cares and pleasures, “Christian, love me more than these.”

Jesus calls us; by thy mercies, Savior, may we hear Thy call, give our hearts to Thy obedience, serve and love Thee best of all.”

Take Time to Be Holy

Take Time to Be Holy

What does it mean to take time to be Holy? To me it means to be in communication with God every minute of the day. To allow Him to guide you into making good decisions and speaking the right words to others. To allow Him to fight your battles for you by surrendering your worries to Him. To commune with other saints and bless them with your prayers and your many kindnesses. To receive God’s love and to share it with others.

Lyrics by William D. Longstaff, arranged by George C. Stebbins

“Take time to be holy, speak often with thy Lord; Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word. Make friends of God’s children; Help those who are weak; Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.

Take time to be holy, the world rushes on; Spend much time in secret with Jesus alone; By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shall be; Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.

Take time to be holy let Him be thy guide, and run not before Him, whatever betide; In joy or in sorrow, still follow thy Lord, and, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.

Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul; Each thought and each motive beneath His control; Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love, thou soon shall be fitted for service above.”

As a Volunteer

As a Volunteer

God is calling you. Whether it is to join the fight in the military or right at your home front, God is calling you. No matter what you do in life, God will give you the strength and skills to do it. It maybe He is calling you to be a prayer warrior, or a giving hand to those in need. He may be calling you to rescue a lost soul or care for the dying. God is calling you to stand beside Him and do whatever He has in store for you. If you answer the call, when we gather in heaven a crown of glory will be waiting there for you.

Lyrics by W. S. Brown, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“A call for loyal soldiers comes to one and all; Soldiers for the conflict, will you heed the call! Will you answer quickly with a ready cheer,

Yes, Jesus calls for soldiers who are filled with power, soldiers who will serve Him every day and hour; He will not forsake you, He is ever near;

He calls you, for He loves you with a heart most kind, He whose heart was broken, broken for mankind; Now, just now He calls you, calls in accents clear;

And when the war is over, and the victory won, when the true and faithful gather one by one, He will crown with glory all who there appear;

Will you be enlisted as a volunteer? A volunteer for Jesus, a soldier true! Others have enlisted, why not you? Jesus is the captain, we will never fear; Will you be enlisted as a volunteer? Amen

There is a Green Hill Far Away

There is a Green Hill Far Away

Jesus Christ is the only one who could have died for us to take away our sins. We don’t know the extent of the pain and anguish that He suffered for us, but we do know that it took someone who loved us so much that He was willing to die for us. There is none other good enough or strong enough to do what He did for us. There might be a time when you might feel you would take a loved one’s place to die so they won’t suffer so much, but could you really? Jesus saved us and He is the only one that can truly save us from our sins and suffering.

Lyrics by Cecil F. Alexander, arranged by George C. Stebbins

“There is a green hill far away, without a city wall, where the dear Lord was crucified, who died to save us all.

We may not know we cannot tell what pains He had to bear; but we believe it was for us He hung and suffered there.

He died that we might be forgiven, He died to make us good, that we might go at last to Heaven, saved by His precious blood.

There was no other good enough, to pay the price of sin; He only could unlock the gate of Heaven and let us in.

Oh, dearly has He loved, and we must love Him too; And trust in His redeeming blood, and try His works to do.”

Surely Goodness and Mercy

Surely Goodness and Mercy

When Jesus finds us where we are, He leads us on the path to Heaven. At times, we stray from the path and we get weary. God gives us the strength that we need to get through the day. He takes us by hand and guides us every step of the way. He offers His protection. Then in the end He leads us safely to the mansion He has prepared for us.

Lyrics by John W. Peterson, arranged by Alfred B. Smith

“A pilgrim was I and a wandering, in the cold night of sin I did roam, when Jesus the kind Shepherd found me, and now I am on my way home.

He restoreth my soul when I’m weary, He giveth me strength day by day, He leads me beside the still waters, He guards me each step of the way.

When I walk through the dark lonesome valley, my Savior will walk with me there; And safely His great hand will lead me to the mansions He’s gone to prepare.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days, all the days of my life; surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days, all the days of my life. And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever, and I shall feast at the table spread for me, surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days, all the days of my life. All the days, all the days of my life.”

O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

O Sacred Head, Now Wounded

If you are a parent, you know how to love your children unconditionally. No matter how many mistakes they make or burdens they bear, you will always love them. God knows His children and He loves us unconditionally. When Jesus went through the pain and anguish of ridicule and the grief and shame He bore for us, God never stopped loving Him. In return, how can you not love a God who loves us as much as He does. We as His children, love Him unconditionally. It all comes down to grace.

Lyrics by Hans L. Hassler, arranged by J. S. Bach

“O sacred head, now wounded, with grief and shame weighed down. Now scornfully surrounded with thorns, Thine only crown; O sacred Head, what glory, what bliss till now was Thine! Yet, though despised and gory, I joy to call Thee mine.

O noblest brow and dearest, in other days the world all feared when Thou appears; What shame on Thee is hurled! How are Thou pale with anguish, with sore abuse and scorn; How does that visage languish which once was bright as morn!

What Thou, my Lord, has suffered was all for sinners’ gain. Mine, mine was the transgression, but Thine was deadly pain. Lo, here I fall my Savior! Tis I deserve Thy place; Look on me with Thy favor, vouch-safe to me Thy grace.

What language shall I borrow to thank Thee, dearest friend, for this Thy dying sorrow, Thy pity without end? O make me Thine forever; and should I fainting be, Lord, let me never, never outlive my love to Thee.”

Lead Me to Calvary

Lead Me to Calvary

It’s important to know and retain the story of Jesus. His death, burial and resurrection is the crowning event of His life. It is the story of Mary weeping and the angels guarding His tomb. It is the story of the empty tomb and His releasing of the crown of thorns to be resurrected to Heaven. It is the story of forgiveness of our sins. And the preparations He is making in heaven for us to join Him there.

Lyrics by Jennie E. Hussy, arranged by William J. Kirkpatrick

“King of my life, I crown Thee now, Thine shall the glory be; Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow, lead me to Calvary.

Show me the tomb where Thou was laid, tenderly mourned and wept; Angels the robes in light arrayed guarded Thee while Thou slept.

Let me like Mary, through the gloom, come with a gift to Thee; Show to me now the empty tomb, lead me to Calvary.

May I be willing, Lord, to bear daily my cross for Thee; Even Thy cup of grief to share, Thou has borne all for me.

Lest I forget Gethsemane; Lest I forget Thine agony; Lest I forget Thy love for me, lead me to Calvary.”

The Church's One Foundation

The Church’s One Foundation

If you are a child of God, then you are His church. Jesus is our foundation. It matters not what the sign on your church building says. It is the people that make up the church who believe in Jesus Christ, have accepted Him as the Lord and Savior and have been baptized. We worship as one, with the same heart and mind. We worship the same God, with the same faith and are baptized into the One who became our foundation. We take the same communion and receive God’s grace and blessings.

Lyrics by Samuel J. Stone, arranged by Samuel S. Wesley

“The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; She is His new creation by water and the Word; From Heaven He came and sought her to be His Holy bride; With His own blood He bought her, and for her life He died.

Elect from every nation, yet one over all the earth, her charter of salvation, One Lord, one faith, one birth; One holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.

Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forever more; Till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest.

Yet she on earth has union with God the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won; O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we, like them, the meek and lowly, on high my dwell with Thee. Amen

Glorious Things of Thee Are Spokenb

Glorious Things of Thee Are Spoken

We all have a great opportunity to speak of our Glorious Father. We are honored that He chose our vessel to dwell in and to share His eternal Love. He supplies us with all our needs, and His love is shown every day. There is no need of fear, for He is always there. He is true to His Word always.

Lyrics by John Newton, arranged by Frank Joseph Haydn

“Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion city of our God; He, whose word cannot be broken, formed thee for His own abode; On the Rock of Ages founded, what can shake thy sure repose? With salvation’s walls surrounded, Thou may smile at all thy foes.

See, the streams of living waters, springing from eternal love, well supply thy sons and daughters, and all fear of want remove; Who can faint, while such a river ever flows their thirst assuage? Grace which, like the Lord, the Giver, never falls from age to age.

Round each habitation hovering, see the cloud and fire appear for a glory and a covering, showing that the Lord is near! Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God; He whose word cannot be broken, formed thee for His own abode. Amen.”

He Died for Me

He Died for Me

If you were at the foot of Jesus’ Cross, would you look away from His blood stained body or would you take in His eyes? He is looking at you, and do you feel convicted, knowing it was your sins that put Him on that cross? Yes, He died on that cross because of you and me and because He wanted us to live. He died to take away those sins that put Him on the cross. Even today, when we sin, we crucify our Lord and Savior. It’s because of His grace that we are forgiven. Let us strive to be like Jesus and sin no more.

Lyrics by John Newton, arranged by Edwin O. Excell

“I saw One hanging on a tree, in agony and blood; He fixed His languid eyes on me, as near His cross I stood.

Sure, never, till my latest breath, can I forget that look; It seemed to charge me with His death, Though, not a word He spoke.

My conscience felt and owned the guilt and plunged me in despair; I saw my sins His blood had spilt and helped to nail Him there.

Alas! I knew not what I did, but now my tears are vain; Where shall my trembling soul be hid? For I the Lord have slain.

A second look He gave, which said, “I freely all forgive; This blood is for thy ransom paid, I die that thou may live.

Oh, can it be, upon a tree the Savior died for me? My soul is thrilled; my heart is filled. To think He died for me!

Yield Not to Temptation

Yield Not to Temptation

Everyone is faced with temptation. It is not a sin to be tempted. It is a sin when we fall to temptation. When we resist temptation, it makes it easier to continue to resist. If you have trouble resisting temptation, it is important to look to Jesus so that He can help you through it. Our regrets come when we don’t seek Him for help. We must be choosy who we associate with, falling in with someone who cusses or uses God’s name in vain, does not reflect well on your relationship with Jesus. Look to Him for victory, for strength and comfort when you face temptation.

Lyrics by Horatio R. Palmer, arranged by Horatio R. Palmer

“Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin, each victory will help you some other to win; Fight manfully onward, dark passions subdue, look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

Shun evil companions, bad language disdain, God’s name hold to reverence, nor take it in vain; Be thoughtful and earnest, kind-hearted and true, look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

To him that overcomes God gives a crown. Through faith we shall conquer, though often cast down; He who is our Savior, our strength will renew, look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through.

Aks the Savior to help you. Comfort, strengthen, and keep you, He is willing to aid you, He will carry you through.”

Saved By the Blood

Saved By the Blood

Those of us who have been washed in the blood of Christ have become children of God, heirs with the Son of God. The angels rejoice at adding us to the Kingdom. His work with us began and we have surrendered to His will. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit work together as One to pardon us and take us home with Him.

Lyrics by S.J. Henderson, arranged by Daniel B. Towner

“Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! Now ransomed from sin and a new work begun, sing praise to the Father and praise to the Son, saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! The angels rejoicing because it is done; A child of the Father, joint heir with the Son, saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! The Father he spoke, and His will it was done; Great price of my pardon, His own precious Son; Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Saved by the blood of the Crucified One! All hail to the Father, all hail to the Son, all hail to the Spirit, the great three in One! Saved by the blood of the Crucified One!

Are You Washed in the Blood?

Are You Washed in the Blood?

Have you been baptized and given yourself to the Lord? Do you trust Him and accept His grace” Are you studying His words daily and building a relationship with Jesus? Are you ready for the judgement day and ready to move into His mansion? If not, lay aside your sins and come to Jesus and be washed in the Blood of the Lamb.

Lyrics by Elisha A. Hoffman, arranged by Elisha A. Hoffman

“Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the lamb?

Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you rest each moment in the Crucified? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

When the Bridegroom comes will your robes be white? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Will your soul be ready for the mansion bright, and be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Lay aside the garments that are stained with sin, and be washed in the blood of the Lamb? There’s a fountain flowing for the soul unclean, O be washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb, in the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?

Thy Word is Like a Garden, Lord

Thy Word is Like a Garden, Lord

The Bible is a book full of instructions; Full of beauty and deep meaningful sayings. It is a book that helps you let go of your worries and fears. It is a book that teaches one to let go of their troubles and how to let go and let God fight our battles for us. He did it repeatedly in the days when the Bible was coming into being. He fought many battles without our help. He comforts us the most when we need it the most. He arms us with the right words or right weapons when He wants us to fight our own battles so that we can grow in strength and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lyrics by Edwin Hodder, arranged by Gottfried W. Fink

“Thy Word is like a garden Lord, with flowers bright and fair; And ever one who seeks may pluck a lovely cluster there. Thy word is like a deep, deep mine, and jewels rich and rare are hidden in its mighty depths for every searcher there.

Thy Word is like a starry host: A thousand rays of light are seen to guard the traveler and make his pathway bright. Thy Word is like an armory, where soldiers may repair, and find, for life’s long battle day, all needful weapons there.

Oh, may I love Thy precious Word, May I explore the mine, may I find my armor there! Thy Word my trusty sword, I’ll learn to fight with every foe the battle of the Lord.”

Wonderful Word of Life

Wonderful Words of Life

So many songs are encouraging and uplifting. Some songs stick in our mind that we sing them over and over again. The words if we listen to them while we sing can teach us so much. We can build on our faith, and we can further our servitude to the Lord. They are wonderful words of life that can help us in our day-to-day living. Try listening to the songs you sing and feel the words in your heart.

Lyrics by Phillip P. Bliss, arranged by Phillip P. Bliss

“Sing them over again to me, wonderful words of life; Let me more of their beauty see, wonderful words of life. Words of life and beauty, teach me faith and duty, beautiful words, wonderful words of life.

Christ, the blessed One, gives to all, wonderful words of life; Sinner, list to the loving call, wonderful words of life. All so freely given, wooing us to Heaven, Beautiful words, wonderful word of life.

Sweetly echo the gospel call, wonderful words of life; Offer pardon and peace to all, wonderful words of life. Jesus, only Savior, sanctify forever; Beautiful words, wonderful words, wonderful words of Life.”

Beautiful Words of Jesus

Beautiful Words of Jesus

Jesus says, “Come unto me all you who labor and are heavy laden I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28. When times get hard or you feel overwhelmed in your work, Jesus’ words are comforting to hear. He invites us to “take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:29-30.

Lyrics by Eliza E. Hewitt, arranged by Isaac H. Meredith

“Beautiful words of Jesus, spoken so long ago, yet, as we sing them over, dearer to us they grow, calling the heavy laden, calling to hearts oppressed, “Come unto me, you weary, come, I will give you rest.

Beautiful. Words of Jesus, cheering us, day by day; Throwing a gleam of sunshine over a cloudy way; Casting on Him the burden we are too weak to bear, He will give grace sufficient, He will regard our prayer.

Beautiful words of Jesus, tokens of endless rest, when, by and by, we enter His presence blest; There shall we see His beauty, meet with Him face to face, there shall we sing His glory, praising His matchless grace.

Hear the calling of His voice, so sweet; Bring your load to the Savior’s feet; Lean your heart on His loving breast, Come, O come and He will give you rest.”

Thy Word I Have Hid in MY Heart

Thy Word I Have Hid in My Heart

The Word of God is a light to guide us daily to walk the walk of Christ. It is established forever and fixed in our heart’s morning, noon and night. The Word of God tells of the Savior and salvation and peace to all who is open to receiving it. It’s important to not just read His Words but to soak them up and know them for eternity.

Lyrics by Psalm 119, arranged by Ernest O. Sellers

“Thy word is a lamp to my feet, a light to my path always, to guide and to save me from sin, and show me the heavenly way.

Forever, O Lord, is Thy Word established and fixed on high; Thy faithfulness unto all men abided forever nigh.

At morning, noon, and at night I ever will give Thee praise; For Thou are my portion, O Lord, and shall be through all my days!

Through Him whom Thy word has foretold, the Savior and Morning Star, salvation and peace have been brought to those who have strayed afar.

Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee; That I might not sin, that I might not sin, Thy Word have I hid in my heart.

Standing on the Promises

Standing on the Promises

Here are some of the key promises Jesus made in the Bible: Eternal Life, Salvation and forgiveness, Rest for the weary, Friendship and fellowship with God, Guidance and presence, Light and Truth, Provision and care, victory over death, peace and comfort, fruitfulness and empowerment.

Lyrics by R. Kelso Carter, arranged by R. Kelso Carter

“Standing on the promises of Christ my King, through eternal ages let His praises ring; Glory in the highest I will shout and sing, standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises that cannot fail, when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, by the living Word of God I shall prevail, standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, bound to Him eternally by love’s strong chord, overcoming daily with the spirit’s sword, standing on the promises of God.

Standing on the promises I cannot fail, listening every moment to the Spirit’s call, resting in my Savior, as my all in all, standing on the promises of God.

Standing, standing, standing on the promises of God my Savior; Standing, standing, I’m standing on the promises of God.”

The Bible Stands

The Bible Stands

Even though the Bible has been burned, thrown in the trash, or just merely set aside. It has been held through the ages as the best reading material alive. The Bible travels from one generation to the next, it has been sent overseas and placed in every hotel room. If you are without a Bible, it is one book that is not hard to find. Why? Because it holds all the truth and instructions on how to live an upstanding righteous life. The words written cannot be destroyed, it will last throughout eternity. God’s words are good all the time.

Lyrics by Haldor Lillenas, arranged by Haldor Lillenas

“The Bible stands like a rock undaunted amid the raging storms of time; Its pages burn with the truth eternal, and they glow with a light sublime.

The Bible stands like a mountain towering far above the works of men; Its truth by none ever was refuted and destroy it they never can.

The Bible stands and it will forever, when the world has passed away; By inspiration it has been given, all its precepts I will obey.

The Bible stands every test we give it, for its Author is divine; By grace alone I expect to live it, and to prove it and make it mine.

The Bible stands though the hills may tumble, it will firmly stand when the earth shall crumble; I will plant my feet on its firm foundation, for the Bible stands.”

Tis Midnight; and On Olive's Brow

Tis Midnight; and on Olive’s Brow

It was the night before Christ’s crucifixion and He could not sleep. He knew what was coming and the human side of Him was afraid. He also knew that He would be with His Father. We all know we are going to die but are fearful of how we will die. The disciples didn’t understand what was happening with Him and could not keep watch. He was alone in His anguish; except He knew God was with Him. That knowledge alone caused Him to say, “not my will but Thine.”

Lyrics by William B. Tappan, arranged by William B. Bradbury

“”Tis midnight; and on Olive’s brow the star is dimmed that lately shone; “Tis midnight in the garden now, the suffering Savior prays alone.

“Tis midnight; and from all removed, the Savior wrestles lone with fears; Even that disciples whom He loved heeds not His master’s grief and tears.

“Tis midnight; and for others’ guilt the Man of Sorrows weeps in blood; Yet He that has in anguish knelt is not forsaken by His God.

“Tis midnight; and from ether-plains is born the song that angels know; Unheard by mortals are the strains that sweetly soothe the Savior’s woe. Amen.”

Break Thou the Bread of Life

Break Thou the Bread of Life.

This song is usually sung during the Communion or Lord’s Supper. It is when we break bread together in remembrance of Jesus’ death. When we break the bread, it speaks of God’s Word. It is through His word that we remember Christ and His sacrifice for us. Christ is the bread of Life. He is the truth and the way.

Lyrics by Mary Ann Lathbury, arranged by William F. Sherwin

“Break Thou the bread of life, Dear Lord, to me, as Thou did break the loaves beside the sea; Beyond the sacred page, I seek Thee Lord; My spirit pants for Thee, O living Word.

Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord to me, to me, as Thou did bless the bread by Galilee; Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall; and I shall find my peace, my all in all.

Thou are the bread of life, O Lord, to me, Thy holy Word the truth that saves me; Give me to eat and live with Thee above; Teach me to love Thy truth, for Thou are love.

O send Thy Spirit, Lord, now unto me, that He may touch my eyes, and make me see; Show me the truth concealed within Thy word, and in Thy book revealed I see the Lord.”

O Word of God Incarnate

O Word of God Incarnate

Do you want to know the truth where there is no doubt of proof? Where wisdom abounds and guidance is always there? The word of God is the only book based on true facts and “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” 2 Timothy 3:13 (NKJ). It is a gift for the church to help us grow in our relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.

Lyrics by William W. How, arranged by Felix Mendelssohn. Bartholdy

“O Word of God incarnate, O wisdom from on high, o Truth unchanged, unchanging, O light of our dark sky; We praise Thee for the radiance that from the hallowed page, a lantern to our footsteps, shines on from age to age.

The church from her dear Master received the gift divine and still that light she lifted O’er all the earth to shine, it is the golden casket, where gems of truth are stored; It is the heaven-drawn picture of Christ, the living Word.

It floats like a banner before God’s host unfurled; It shines like a beacon above the darkening world, it is the chart and compass that over life’s surging sea, mid mists and rocks and quicksand, still guide, O Christ, to Thee.

O make Thy church, dear Savior, a lamp of purest gold, to bear before the nations Thy true light, as of old. O teach thy wandering pilgrims by this their path to trace, till, clouds and darkness ended, they see Thee face to face. Amen.”

Buried With Christ

Buried With Christ

If you were baptized in water, then you were buried with Christ and rose up from the watery grave with Christ. You now can walk in newness of life. Jesus set the example for us on how we are to live a righteous life once we have given ourselves to Him. He has freed us from sin, and we now live under grace and not condemnation.

Lyrics by T. Ryder, arranged by William J. Kirkpatrick

“Buried with Christ and raised with Him too, what is there left for me to do? Simply to cease from struggling and strife, simply to walk in newness of life.

Risen with Christ my glorious Head, Holiness now the pathway I tread; Beautiful thought while walking there-in, He that is dead is freed from all sin.

Living with Christ, who dies no more, following Christ, who goes before; Not under law, I’m now under grace, sin is dethroned and Christ takes its place.

Buried with Christ and dead unto sin; Dying but living, Jesus within; Ruling and reigning day after day, guiding and keeping all of the way.”

The Old Rugged Cross

The Old Rugged Cross

How would you live if from the day you were born you knew how you would die? How would you live if you knew from the beginning what your purpose was and who it was for? Jesus knew He would live His life to save sinners from their sins, that’s you and that’s me. He knew He would die a horrendous death on an old rugged cross. Yet, He knew it would save us and grant us forgiveness, mercy and grace.

Lyrics by George Bennard; arranged by George Bennard

“On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross, the emblem of suffering and shame; And I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.

Oh, that old rugged cross so despised by the world, has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear lamb of God left His glory above, to bear it to dark calvary.

In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine, a wondrous beauty I see; For it was on that old cross Jesus suffered and died, to pardon and sanctify me.

To the old, rugged cross I will ever be true, it’s shame and reproach gladly bear;  Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away, where His glory forever I’ll share.

So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down; I will cling to the old rugged cross and exchange it some day for a crown.”

The Nail-Scarred Hand

The Nail-Scarred Hand

Have you wondered why all your plans are not turning out the way you expected? Are you tired of having to do everything the hard way, why isn’t everything simple? Are you weary of having to struggle on your own and not getting anywhere? “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11. Only God knows what is best for you and if you surrender your plans to Him, He will show you how much better His plans are than yours. Your struggles will no longer be your struggles alone.

Lyrics by Baylus B. McKinney, arranged by Baylus B. McKinney

“Have you failed in your plan of your storm-tossed life? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Are you weary and worn from its toil and strife? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Are you walking alone through the shadow dim? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Christ will comfort your heart, put your trust in Him. Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Would you follow the will of the risen Lord? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Would you live in the light of His blessed Word? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Is your soul burdened down with its load of sin? Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; Throw your heart open wide, let the Savior in, place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.

Place your hand in the nail-scarred hand, place your hand in the nail-scarred hand; He will keep to the end, He’s your dearest friend, place your hand in the nail-scarred hand.”

I Never Walk Alone

I Never Walk Alone

“And Lo, I am with you always. Even unto the end of the world.” Matthew 28:20 Jesus said this to His disciples when He commissioned them to go into all the world and preach the gospel. Jesus’ words apply to us today. He is with us wherever we go, and in whatever we are doing. In all circumstances God is beside us, within us and will never leave us, not ever. In the good times and in the bad times. Even when you think He is not there, He is there.

Lyrics by Alfred A. Ackley, arranged by Alfred A. Ackley

“I never walk alone, I have the Savior, who walks beside me everywhere I go; My heart rejoices in His loving favor, and all who will His saving grace may know.

I never walk alone, in stormy weather, when winds of trouble sweep about my head; I know I’m safe, because we are together, and around me His protecting love is spread.

I never walk alone, Christ walks beside me, He is the dearest Friend I’ve ever known, with such a Friend to comfort and to guide me, I never, no, I never walk alone.”
