Thy
Word is Like a Garden, Lord
The Bible is a book full of instructions; Full of beauty and
deep meaningful sayings. It is a book that helps you let go of your worries and
fears. It is a book that teaches one to let go of their troubles and how to let
go and let God fight our battles for us. He did it repeatedly in the days when
the Bible was coming into being. He fought many battles without our help. He
comforts us the most when we need it the most. He arms us with the right words
or right weapons when He wants us to fight our own battles so that we can grow
in strength and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Lyrics by Edwin Hodder, arranged by Gottfried W. Fink
“Thy Word is like a garden Lord, with flowers bright and
fair; And ever one who seeks may pluck a lovely cluster there. Thy word is like
a deep, deep mine, and jewels rich and rare are hidden in its mighty depths for
every searcher there.
Thy Word is like a starry host: A thousand rays of light
are seen to guard the traveler and make his pathway bright. Thy Word is like an
armory, where soldiers may repair, and find, for life’s long battle day, all
needful weapons there.
Oh, may I love Thy precious Word, May I explore the mine,
may I find my armor there! Thy Word my trusty sword, I’ll learn to fight with
every foe the battle of the Lord.”
