In Tenderness He Sought Me

In Tenderness He Sought Me

I too, have wondered what God sees in me. How He blesses me in all that I do and reminds me that once I was a sinner and now, I am saved by grace. Not one of us deserves His love the way He gives it. We can’t sing His praises enough. He tenderly seeks each one of us. No one is forced to accept Him. Once He finds us, He claims us as His own. I, for one, am proud to be called His child.

Lyrics by W. Spencer Walton, arranged by Adoniram J. Gordon

“In tenderness He sought me, weary and sick with sin, and on His shoulders brought me back to His fold again. While angels in His presence sang until the courts of heaven rang.

He washed the bleeding sin wounds and poured in oil and wine; He whispered to assure me, “I’ve found thee, thou art mine; I never heard a sweeter voice; It made my aching heart rejoice!

He pointed to the nail-prints, for me His blood was shed, a mocking crown so thorny was placed upon His head; I wondered what He saw in me, to suffer such deep agony.

I’m sitting in His presence, the sunshine of His face, while with adoring wonder His blessings I retrace, It seems as it eternal days are far too short to sound His praise.

So while the hours are passing, all now is perfect rest; I’m waiting for the morning, the brightest and the best. When He will call us to His side, to be with Him, His spotless bride.

Oh, the love that sought me! Oh, the blood that bought me! Oh, the grace that brought me to the fold, wondrous grace that brought me to the fold!

I've Found a Friend

I’ve Found a Friend

Before we were born, Jesus knew us. He bound us to His love. We are His and He is ours. Everything we own belongs to Him, even our heart, our strength and our life. He will guide us and protect us now, tomorrow and forever. It is up to us to live within His will for He is the decider of our eternity.

Lyrics by James G. Small, arranged by George C. Stebbins

“I’ve found a friend, oh, such a friend! He loved me ere I knew Him; He drew me with the cords of love, and thus He bound me to Him. And round my heart still closely twine those ties which naught can sever, for I am His, and He is mine, forever and forever.

I’ve found a friend, oh, such a friend! He bled, He died to save me; And not alone the gift of life, but His own self He gave me.  Naught that I have my own I call, I hold it for the Giver; My heart, my strength, my life, my all, are His, and His forever.

I’ve found a friend, oh, such a friend! All power to Him is given, to guard me on my onward course, and bring me safe to heaven, The eternal glories gleam afar, to nerve my faint endeavor; So now to watch, to work to war, and then to rest forever.

I’ve found a friend, oh, such a friend! So kind, and true, and tender, so wise a counsellor and Guide, so mighty a defender! From Him who loves me now so well, what power my soul can sever? Shall life or death, or earth or hell? No; I am His forever.”

Wounded For Me

Wounded For Me

Before Jesus was put on the cross, He was beaten. He could have prevented that from happening, but He chose to endure it for us. He died for us so that He could wipe our sins away and offer His forgiveness. He arose from the grave to show us that we too can live again, When He ascended into Heaven, He went there to prepare a place for us. Someday soon, He will return to take us to the place He prepared for us. Are you ready?

Lyrics by W. G. Ovens and Gladys W. Roberts, arranged by W. G. Ovens

“ Wounded for me, wounded for me, there on the cross He was wounded for me; Gone my transgressions, and now I am free, all because Jesus was wounded for me.

Dying for me, dying for me, there on the cross He was dying for me; Now in His death my redemption I see, all because Jesus was dying for me.

Risen for me, risen for me. Up from the grave He has risen for me; Now evermore from death’s sting I am free, all because Jesus has risen for me.

Living for me, living for me, up in the skies He is living for me; Daily He’s pleading and praying for me, all because Jesus is living for me.

Coming for me, coming for me, one day to earth He is coming for me; Then with what joy His dear face I shall see, oh, how I praise Him! He’s coming for me.

If Jesus Had Not Come!

If Jesus Had Not Come!

If Jesus had not come, there would be no hope for the lost, there would be no Savior. If Jesus had not come there would be no proof that the blind could see again, the deaf could hear again. There would be no one on earth that can do the impossible and forgive us of our sins. Thank God, that He sent His one and only Son to save us!

“Lyrics By Albert C. Norton, arranged by Donald P. Hustad

“If Jesus had not come, how dark had been the night! The wisemen, sadly dumb, had seen no starry light! The shepherds on the hill had heard no angel song! The bells in silence chill, no joyous peel had rung!

If Jesus had not come, no freedom had the slave; No woman’s happy home; no hand a child to save; The people in the gloom had one eternal night; Death met them at the tomb, so resurrection light!

If Jesus had not come, no Great Physician kind had brought a healing balm, a vision for the blind! No soul with demon torn had found a sure release! The hopeless and forlorn had found no way of peace!

If Jesus had not come, how blank the sacred page! The poet had no song and silent were the sage! No artist to adorn our worship with delight; No choral psalm had borne His praises day or night!

If Jesus had not come, how sad had been our fate! Of judgment sure the sum for all our sin and hate! No loving God of grace His precious Son had given; No hope to see His face; no joy to meet in heaven!

But Jesus came! He came to earth, and men beheld His manger birth! The shepherds heard the angels sing, the wise proclaimed Him Lord and King! He died, He rose; and by His blood, we too become the sons of God; We preach the gospel in His name! For Jesus came! Yes, Jesus came!

The Church in the Wildwood

The Church in the Wildwood

If you have grown up in a small church, then you know what church family means. Everyone knows each other and prays together. The potlucks are spectacular and the worship is filled with the Holy Spirit. My first church building was small, and we grew in numbers to where expansion was necessary. It doesn’t matter how small or how big your church building or your church family is. What matters is, can you find Jesus there. Do you have such a relationship with Him that you can feel His presence beside you? If not, you need to examine yourself and where you worship to see what is missing.

Lyrics by William S. Pitts, arranged by William S. Pitts

“There’s a church in the valley by the wildwood, no lovelier spot in the dale; No place is so dear to my childhood as the little brown church in the vale.

Oh, come to the church in the wildwood, to the trees where the wildflowers bloom; Where the parting hymn will be chanted, we will weep by the side of the tomb.

How sweet on a clear Sunday morning, to list to the clear ringing bell; It tones so sweetly are calling, oh, come the church in the vale.

From the church in the valley by the wildwood, when day fades away in the night, I would fain from this spot of my childhood wing my way to the mansions of light.

Come to the church in the wildwood, Oh, come to the church in the vale.”

Who is on the Lord's Side?

Who is on the Lord’s Side?

Whose side are you on? Are you on the side of deceit, defeat and worldly ways? Then you are on satan’s side. He has designs and strategies to turn you against God. God gives us our weapon and that is His word, written down for us in the Bible. Our strategy is to let God do the fighting for us. God has already promised a victory. By the call of mercy, By His grace divine, we are on the Lord’s side.

Lyrics by Frances R. Havergal, arranged by John Goss

“Who is on the Lord’s side? Who will serve the King? Who will be His helper’s other lives to bring? Who will leave the world’s side? Who will face the foe? Who is on the Lord’s side? Who for Him will go? By Thy call of mercy.

Not for weight of glory, not for crown and palm, enter we the army, raise the warrior psalm; But for love that claims lives for whom He died; He who Jesus names must be on His side. By Thy love constraining.

Jesus, Thou has bought us, not with gold or gem, but with Thin own lifeblood, for Thy diadem; With Thy blessing filling each who comes to Thee, Thou has made us willing, Thou has made us free, by Thy grand redemption.

Fierce may be the conflict, strong may be the foe, but the King’s own army none can overthrow; Round His standard ranging, victory to secure; For His truth unchanging makes the triumph sure, joyfully enlisting.

By Thy grace divine, we are on the Lord’s side, Savior, we are Thine.

Trust and Obey

Trust and Obey

When we walk with the Lord we don’t have to worry about anything. He is right there with us and carries our burdens for us. If we place our worries in God’s hands, He knows what we need and sees what we are facing. Trust Him, obey Him and you will see that He is good at keeping His promises. His love for us never fails.

Lyrics by John H. Sammis, arranged by Daniel B. Towner

“When we walk with the Lord in the light of His word what a glory, He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.

Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies, but His smile quickly drives it away; Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh nor a tear, can abide while we trust and obey.

Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share, but our toil He does richly repay; Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown or a cross, but is blest if we trust and obey.

But we never can prove the delights of His love until all on the altar we lay; For the favor He shows, and the joy He bestows, are for them who will trust and obey.

Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet, or we’ll walk by His side in the way; What He says we will do, where He sends, we will go, Never fear, only trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey. Amen.”

True-Hearted, Whole-Hearted

True -Hearted, Whole-Hearted

“By grace you have been saved through faith. And that is not your own doing, it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8 ESV. God gives us this grace because of our faithfulness and loyalty to Him. Through baptism we become His child and therefore we are obedient to His words and put Him first before our desires and needs. It is not our will, but God’s, will we desire.

Lyrics by Frances R. Havergal, arranged by George C. Stebbins

“True-hearted, whole-hearted, faithful and loyal, King of our lives by Thy grace we will be; Under the standard exalted and royal, strong in Thy strength we will battle for Thee.

True-hearted, whole-hearted, fullest allegiance yielding henceforth to our glorious King; Valiant endeavor and loving obedience, freely and joyously now would we bring.

True-hearted, whole-hearted, Savior, all glorious! Take Thy great power and reign there alone, over our wills and affections victorious, freely surrendered and wholly Thine own.

Peal out the watch-word! Silence it never! Song of our spirits, rejoicing and free; Peal out the watch-word! Loyal forever, King of our lives, by Thy grace we will be.”

To the Work!

To the Work!

There is always something to do, and always a need to be fulfilled. Look around and there are homeless, hungry, lonely, bereaved people. There are people who rely on you and there are people you rely on. God has given each of us a task to do and we must do it with all our might. God will give us the strength and wisdom to do any task He puts before us. We do all of it to the glorification of God our Father.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by William H. Doane

“To the work! To the work! We are servants of God, let us follow the path that our Master has trod: With the balm of His counsel our strength to renew, let us do with our might what our hands find to do.

To the work! To the work! Let the hungry be fed; To the fountain of life let the weary be lead; In the cross and its banner our glory shall be, while we herald the tidings, “Salvation is free!”

To the work! To the work! There is labor for all; For the kingdom of darkness and error shall fall; And the name of Jehovah exalted shall be, in the loud swelling chorus, “Salvation is free.”

To the Work! To the work! In the strength of the Lord, and a robe and a crown shall our labor reward. When the home of the faithful our dwelling shall be, and we shout with the ransomed, “Salvation is free.”

Toiling on, toiling on, toiling on, toiling on; Let us hope, let us watch, and labor till the Master comes.”

Am I a Soldier of the Cross?

Am I a Soldier of the Cross?

Are you ashamed to say you are a Christian? Are you afraid to tell others of the Lord? If you are afraid of what others think, then consider how God thinks when you won’t share His word or let others know that you are a follower of His. He loves you so much and cares for you in so many ways that it quenches His Holy Spirit when you don’t show your love for Him to others. “And He said to them (apostles) go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” Mark 16:15. Let us be bold and speak up, proclaim that you are a Christian and be proud of it.

Lyrics by Isaac Watts, arranged by Thomas A. Arne

“Am I a soldier of the cross, a follower of the Lamb? And shall I fear to own His cause, or blush to speak His name?

Must I be carried to the skies on flowery beds of ease, while others fought to win the prize, and sailed through bloody seas?

Are there no foes for me to face? Must I not stem the flood? Is this vile world a friend to grace, to help me on to God?

Sure, I  must fight, if I would reign; Increase my courage Lord; I’ll bear the toil, endure the pain, supported by Thy word.”

The Banner of the Cross

The Banner of the Cross

You have a Bible, Lift it up. It is our banner of the cross. It is the one thing that defeats our enemies and instructs us on how to win the battles. We are soldiers of the Lord. Our banner is our flag to Christianity. It is our guidance to the golden streets of heaven. Lift up your banner and our enemies will soon disappear and we will see Christ, not on the cross but on His throne in Heaven.

Lyrics by Daniel W. Whittle, arranged by James McGranahan

“There’s a royal banner given for display to the soldiers of the King; As an ensign fair we lift it up today, while as ransomed ones we sing.

Though the foe may rage and gather as the flood, let the standard be displayed; And beneath its folds, as soldiers of the Lord, for the truth be not dismayed!

Over land and sea, wherever man may dwell, make the glorious tidings known; Of the crimson banner now the story tells, while the Lord shall claim His own!

When the glory dawns tis drawing very near it is hastening day by day, then before our King the foe shall disappear, and the cross the world shall sway!

Marching on, marching on, for Christ count everything but loss! And to crown Him King, toil and sing beneath the banner of the cross!”

Sound the Battle Cry

Sound The Battle Cry

I Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you.” Are you confident to sound the battle cry and testify why you have faith in Jesus Christ? Can you rest upon His words? Let us be ready to spread the word and help those who need to know about Jesus or who are weak in their faith. Put your armor on and sound the battle cry.

Lyrics by William P. Sherwin, arranged by William P. Sherwin

“Sound the battle cry! See, the foe is nigh; Raise the standard high for the Lord; Gird your armor on, stand firm, everyone; Rest your cause upon His Holy word.

Strong to meet the foe, marching as we go, while our cause we know, must prevail; Shield and banner bright, gleaming in the light; Battling for the right we never can fail.

O! Thou God of all, hear us when we call, help us one and all by Thy grace; When the battle’s done, and the victory’s won, may we wear the crown before Thy face.

Rouse, then, soldiers, rally round the banner, ready, steady, pass the word along; Onward, forward, shout aloud Hosanna! Christ is captain of the mighty throng.”

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus

Jesus Christ is everything to me, I want everyone to know Him, and I want to stand up for Him against all those who stand against Him. He doesn’t need me, but I need Him and since He is here for me, then I am here for Him. Why wouldn’t you stand up for someone who is always with you. Someone who wants the best for you and has only good plans for you. In the end, Christ will stand up for all those who stand up for Him.

Lyrics by George Duffield, arranged by Adam Geibel

“Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross; Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss; From victory unto victory His army shall He lead, till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the trumpet call obey; Forth to the mighty conflict, in this His glorious day; Ye that are men now serve Him against unnumbered foes; Let courage rise with danger, and strength to strength oppose.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, stand in His strength alone; The arm of flesh will fail you, ye dare not trust your own; Put on the gospel armor, each piece put on with prayer; Where duty calls, or danger, be never wanting there.

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, the strife will not be long; This day the noise of battle, the next the victor’s song; To Him that overcome, a crown of life shall be; He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.

Stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the cross; Lift high His royal banner, it must not, it must not suffer loss.

Soldiers of Christ, Arise!

Soldiers of Christ, Arise!

We are soldiers and our armor is the righteousness of God. Being right with God through the strength that God supplies. Our trust in Christ is more than being a conqueror. As long as we stand strong in Christ, we can overcome anything. We mustn’t give in to our weaknesses but stand strong and fight and pray. We will defeat all the darkness, and our light will shine forth.

Lyrics by Charles Wesley, Arr., arranged by George J. Elvey

“Soldiers of Christ, arise, and put your armor on. Strong in the strength which God supplies through His eternal Son; Strong in the Lord of hosts. And in His mighty power, who in the strength of Jesus trusts is more than conqueror.

Stand then in His great might, with all His strength endue, and take to arm you for the fight, the panoply of God; That having all things done, and all your conflicts past, ye may overcome through Christ alone, and stand entire at last.

Leave no unguarded place, no weakness of the soul, take every virtue, every grace, and fortify the whole, from strength to strength go on, wrestle and fight and pray, tread all the powers of darkness down, and win the well fought day.”

Into My Heart

Into My Heart

We all need Jesus to come into our heart. There are so many days that we feel weary, burdened down with guilt, and deeply depressed. When we ask Jesus to come into our heart, He eases all our burdens, forgives all our sins and His Spirit takes full control. He will cleanse our souls and comfort us always.

Lyrics by Harry D. Clarke, arranged by Harry D. Clarke

“Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, come into my heart I pray; My soul is so troubled and weary, come into my heart today,

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, I need Thee through life’s dreary way; The burden of sin is so heavy, come into my heart today.

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, and take all my guilt away; Then spotless I’ll stand in Thy presence, when breaks Thine eternal day.

Come into my heart, blessed Jesus, O cleanse and illumine my soul; Fill me with Thy wonderful Spirit, come in and take full control.

Into my heart, into my heart, come into my heart, Lord Jesus; Come in today, come in to stay, come into my heart, Lord Jesus.”

Onward Christian Soldiers

Onward Christian Soldiers

Every day we are in a battle against satan and his followers. We must rise together and defeat this enemy. We must show him we are stronger than Him. Jesus is our royal Master and He leads us in this battle. We will rise in victory against satan and we will triumph with Christ. We will sing praises and glorify God because we know the victory is won. Stand strong in the Lord and be triumphant.

Lyrics by Sabine Baring-Gould, arranged by Arthur S. Sullivan

“Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war. With the cross of Jesus going on before! Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle, see His banner go?

At the sign of triumph satan’s host does flee; On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory! Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise; Brothers lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!

Like a mighty army moves the church of God; Brothers we are treading where the saints have trod; We are not divided; All one body we, One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

Onward then Ye people, join our happy throng. Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song; Glory, laud, and honor, unto Christ the King; This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward Christian soldier, marching as to war, with the Cross of Jesus going on before!

In Times Like These

In times Like These

These are hard times to live in. Sin runs amok  and no one seems to care. You name the sin and it’s at every corner. It is times like this that we need a Savior. He is our solid rock and if we don’t want to be part of the problem, we must do our best to be part of the solution. Christ is the solution and He has all the answers. Look to Him and follow Him. It is only through Him that we will see God.

Lyrics by Ruth Caye Jones, arranged by Ruth Caye Jones

“In times like these you need a Savior, in times like these you need an anchor; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

In times like these you need the Bible, in times like these, oh, be not idle; Be very sure, be very sure, your anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

In times like these I have a Savior, in times like these, I have an anchor; I’m very sure, I’m very sure, my anchor holds and grips the solid Rock!

This Rock is Jesus, yes, He’s the One, this Rock is Jesus, The only One.”

Rise Up, O men of God

Rise Up, O Men of God

Our men are the leaders of our church and family. They are called to lead us in worship and praise. They are called to be good ministers and live Godly lives among the church, society and at home. When our men live such a life for God, they look like Jesus in personality, in word and deed. The church is truly blessed to have good leaders in our worship.

Lyrics by William P. Merrill, arranged by Aaron Williams

“Rise up, O men of God! Have done with lesser things; Give heart and mind and soul and strength to serve the King of kings.

Rise up, O men of God! His kingdom tarries long; Bring in the day of brotherhood and end the night of wrong.

Rise up, O men of God! The church for you does wait; Her strength unequal to her task; Rise up and make her great!

Lift high the cross of Christ! Treat where His feet have trod; As brothers of the Son of man, Rise up, O men of God!”

My Soul, Be on Thy Guard

My Soul, Be on Thy Guard

There are bad influences and good influences. We as Christians must be careful of whom we associate with. It is easy to be swayed to do things that might look or feel good but are totally wrong. Satan is always about trying to use people to cause us to sin. Being close to Jesus always will keep us on the straight and narrow road. Keeping the faith and being obedient to God will help us obtain our place in heaven.

Lyrics by George Heath, arranged by Lowell Mason

“My soul, be on thy guard; Ten thousand foes arise; The hosts of sin are pressing hard to draw thee from the skies.

O watch, and fight, and pray; the battle never give over; Renew it boldly every day and help divine implore.

Never think the victory won, nor lay thine armor down; The work of faith will not be done, till thou obtain the crown.

Fight on, my soul, till death shall bring thee to thy God; He’ll take thee, at thy parting breath, to His divine abode.”

I Am Resolved

I Am Resolved

Today is the day to leave your sins in the past and be resolved to follow Jesus. He is the one that can forgive your sins, heal your pain and resolve your struggles. He is the most truthful and just person that can fulfill your needs. Make today your day to commit to Jesus and follow Him. He will set you free and guide you down the path to righteousness.

Lyrics by Palmer Hartsough, arranged by James H. Fillmore

“I am resolved no longer to linger, charmed by the world’s delight; Things that are higher, things that are nobler, these have allured my sight.

I am resolved to go to the Savior, leaving my sin and strife; He is the true One, He is the just One, He has the words of life.

I am resolved to follow the Savior, Faithful and true each day; Heed what He says, do what He wills, He is the living way.

I am resolved to enter the Kingdom, leaving the paths of sin; Friends may oppose me, foes may beset me, still will I enter in.

I will hasten to Him, hasten so glad and free; Jesus, greatest, Highest, I will come to Thee.

Give of Your Best to the Master

Give of Your Best to the Master

What is your best? Let’s start in home. God gave us our children and expects us to raise them in the service of the Lord. As we grow and as they grow, our relationship with Jesus grows and our best is to teach the children the way of the Lord, so that they can pass on their knowledge onto the next generations. As we age, we start out active, then we tend to slow down later in life. Our best could end up being prayer warriors. We should always pray, no matter what age, but when that is all we have left, we give our best to the Master. Talk to Him and build on that relationship so that heaven is close to your heart.

Lyrics by Howard B. Grose, arranged by Charlotte A. Beenard

“Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth; Throw your soul’s fresh, glowing ardor into the battle of truth. Jesus has set the example; Dauntless was He, young and brave; Give Him your loyal devotion, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Give Him first place in your heart; Give Him first place in your service, consecrate every part. Give and to you shall be given, God His beloved Son gave; Gratefully seeking so serve Him, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Naught else is worthy His love; He gave Himself for your ransom, Gave His glory above; Laid down His life without murmur, you from sin’s ruin to save; Give Him your heart’s adoration, Give Him the best that you have.

Give of your best to the Master; Give of the strength of your youth; Clad in salvation’s full armor, join the battle for truth.

Jesus Bids Us Shine

Jesus Bids Us Shine

When others look at you, do they see Jesus or do they just see you? Jesus wants our light to shine so that when people look at us, they see Jesus in us. What does that look light? Jesus was kind, compassionate, loving, giving, forgiving, patient, and the list can go on. If we have these same characteristics then when others look at us, they see Jesus. Not only in our actions but also in our words. How many people have you told about Jesus. He is our friend; we need to introduce him to everyone we meet.

Lyrics by Susan Warner, arranged by Edwin O. Excell

“Jesus bids us shine, with a clear, pure light, like a little candle burning in the night; In this world of darkness we must shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, first of all for Him; Well He sees and knows it if our light is dim; He looks down from heaven, sees us shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, then, for all around many kinds of darkness in this world abound. Sin, and want, and sorrow we must shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Jesus bids us shine, as we work for Him, bringing those that wander from the paths of sin; He will ever help us, if we shine, you in your small corner, and I in mine.

Fight the Good fight

Fight the Good Fight

Tomorrow is not promised so live today as if it is your last day. “Whatever you do, do with all your might” Ecclesiastes 9:10 paraphrased. Run the straight and narrow race and look to Jesus. He will guide you on the right path. Leave your burdens behind and follow Him. God will provide. Believe in Him and you will witness firsthand the Love of God. Christ is all in all.

Lyrics by John S. B. Monsell, arranged by William Boyd

“Fight the good fight with all thy might! Christ is thy strength, and Christ thy right; Lay hold on life, and it shall be thy joy and crown eternally.

Run the straight race through God’s good grace, lift up thine eyes, and seek His face; Life with its way before us lies, Christ is the path and Christ the prize.

Cast care aside, lean on thy guide, His boundless mercy will provide; Trust, and thy trusting soul shall prove Christ is its life, and Christ its love.

Faint not nor fear, His arms are near, He changes not, and thou are dear; Only believe, and thou shall see that Christ is all in all to thee. Amen

Hold the Fort

Hold the Fort

There are physical wars, mental wars and spiritual wars. All of them are led by satan. Who better to turn to than Jesus Christ, Himself. God is the conqueror of all wars. We may have battles today that seem unending, but we know who wins the battles. Let God fight your fights for you. Don’t give in to satan for that is what he is here for. He is here to kill, steal and destroy. God is here to offer peace, Love and security.

Lyrics by Philip P. Bliss, arranged by Philip P. Bliss

“Ho, my comrades! See the signal wavering in the sky! Reinforcements now appearing, victory is nigh.

See the mighty host advancing, satan leading on; Mighty men around us falling. Courage almost gone!

See the glorious banner waving! Hear the trumpet blow! In our Leader’s name we triumph over every foe.

Fierce and long the battle rages, but our help is near; Onward comes our great Commander, cheer, my comrades cheer!

“Hold the fort, for I am coming.” Jesus signals still; Wave the answer back to heaven. “By Thy grace we will.”

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

My Faith Looks Up to Thee

Faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something. The faith God requires of us for salvation is belief in what the Bible says about who Jesus is and what He has done for us. Faith is trusting in His grace, and forgiveness of our sins. Faith is believing God will guide, guard and direct us. Faith is trusting that He will never leave us and He will always have our best interest at heart.

Lyrics by Ray Palmer, arranged by Lowell Mason

“My faith looks up to Thee, Thou lamb of Calvary, Savior divine! Now hear me while I pray, take all my guilt away, O let me from this day be wholly Thine!

May Thy rich grace impart strength to my fainting heart, my zeal inspire; As Thou has died for me, O may my love to Thee pure, warm, and changeless be, a living Fire!

While life’s dark maze I tread, and griefs around me spread, be Thou my guide; Bid darkness turn today, Wipe sorrow’s tears away, nor let me ever stray from Thee aside.

When ends life’s transient dream, when death’s cold, sullen stream shall over me roll; Blest Savior, then, in love, fear and distrust remove; O bear me safe above, a ransomed soul!

Jesus Calls Us

Jesus Calls Us

In this world we will have struggles and will get weary. Jesus calls us to look to Him when times are hard. It’s not bad to ask others for advice but Jesus wants us to search Him and His words, to put away the things and worldly suggestions that we adore more than Him. He wants us to lean on Him so that in our joys and sorrows, we will know that He cares for us and will grant us His mercy. Jesus calls us to follow Him and to love Him more than anything else.

Lyrics by Cecil F. Alexander, arranged by William H. Jude

“Jesus calls us; over the tumult of our life’s wild, restless sea, Day by day His sweet voice sounds, saying “Christian follow me.”

Jesus calls us from the worship of the vain world’s golden store, from each idol that would keep us, saying, Christian, “love me more.”

In our joys and in our sorrows, days of toil and hours of ease, still He calls, in cares and pleasures, “Christian, love me more than these.”

Jesus calls us; by thy mercies, Savior, may we hear Thy call, give our hearts to Thy obedience, serve and love Thee best of all.”
