In
the Hour of Trial
Satan knows our weaknesses and he is roaming the earth
ready to pounce on us the moment he senses that weakness. He makes us worry, he
makes us do the “What ifs”. What if I get sick, what if I embarrass myself,
what if I embarrass others. Beware that you don’t fall into this trap. Take
your thoughts captive and ask God to strengthen you in your weakness. Turn to
Him to comfort you and tell satan to take a hike.
Lyrics by James Montgomery, arranged by Spencer Lane
“In the hour of trial, Jesus, plead for me; Lest, by base
denial, I depart from Thee; When Thou sees me waver, with a look recall; Nor
for fear or favor suffer me to fall.
With forbidden pleasures would this vain world charm; Or its
sordid treasures spread to work me harm; Bring to my remembrance sad Gethsemane,
or, in darker semblance, cross-crowned Calvary.
Should Thy mercy send me sorrow, toil and woe; Or should
pain attend me on my path below, grant that I may never fail Thy hands to see;
Grant that I may ever cast my care on Thee.
When my last hour comes, fraught with strife and pain,
when my dust returns to the dust again; On Thy truth relying through that
mortal strife; Lord, receive me, dying, to eternal life.” Amen.
