Cleanse
Me
Psalm 139:23. This song is based off this scripture. You’ve
heard the saying, “Don’t pray for patience or your patience will be tried.”
This song asks the Lord to search for any wrongs we might have done. We have
all done something that we may not be aware of. When we pray this prayer, God
opens our hearts and minds to our faults, and we seek Him to cleanse us of
these faults. He opens our wounds so that we will be aware of them and He
proceeds to heal us from within. Whether it be a bad attitude, selfishness,
greed or anything that goes against God’s will for us. If we want to better
ourselves, this is the prayer to pray.
Lyrics by J. Edwin Orr, arranged by Maori Melody
“Search me, O God, and know my heart today; Try me, O
Savior, know my thoughts, I pray; See if there be some wicked way in me;
Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free.
I praise Thee, Lord, for cleansing me from sin; Fulfill
Thy Word and make me pure within; Fill me with fire, where once I burned with
shame; Grant my desire to magnify Thy name.
Lord, take my life, and make it wholly Thine; Fill my
poor heart with Thy great love divine; Take all my will, my passion, self and
pride; I now surrender; Lord, in me abide.
O Holy Ghost, revival comes from Thee; Send a revival
start the work in me; Thy word declares Thou wilt supply our need; For blessing
now, O Lord, I humbly plead.”
