Contentment

Contentment

Philippians 4:11-13, I Timothy 6:6

“Not that I speak regarding need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain.” I Timothy 6:6

Every morning, we wake up, get out of bed. We have air to breathe, food to eat, clothes to wear. How many people in this world don’t have food to eat or clothes to wear? They might not even have a shelter to live in. Whatever our circumstances, there are always people who are worse off than us.

No amount of complaining does any good. But praying, not just for us, but for those who are worse off than us, will bring blessings to all. In the meantime, being content with what we have speaks volumes of who we are and how much we care for others. God knows what we need before we ask, and He always provides for us.

“The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
