Work for the Night is Coming

Work for the Night is Coming

If you are a workaholic like me, then your schedule begins when your feet hit the floor in the morning and ends when the night has come. We all want to feel accomplishment at what we do, and we want to know that what we do has a purpose. If we are working at a place that we do not like, then it is hard to feel accomplished or to find purpose in it. On the other hand, if what we do is our Ministry handed to us from the Lord, then we know what our purpose is and accomplishment comes in many forms. It can be a job well done, or in the praises of those who God gave us to serve. Whatever we do, whether it be in a job we like or dislike we must learn to lean on God and He will give us what fulfills us. One thing to remember though is to take on only what God gives us and learn to say no to what we bring on ourselves through other requests.

Lyrics by Anna L. Walker, arranged by Lowell Mason

“Work, for the night is coming, Work through the morning hours; Work while the dew is sparkling; Work, mid springing flowers. Work, when the day grows brighter.

Work, for the night is coming. Work through the sunny noon; Fill brightest hours with labor, rest comes sure and soon. Give every flying minute something to keep in store; Work, for the night is coming, when man works no more.

Work, for the night is coming, under the sunset skies; while their bright tints are glowing, work, for the daylight flies. Work till the last beam faded, faded to shine no more; Work while the night is darkening, when man’s work is over.”
