I Know Whom I have Believed

I Know Whom I have Believed

If you ever looked back over your life and recognized the sins you have committed, you might be like David and ask “What is man that you are mindful of him?” We are all sinners and have fallen short of the glory of God. So, what makes us worthy of God’s love and compassion? Why does He consider us special in His eyes? God’s grace is overflowing even to you and I and for me I am thankful for it.

Lyrics by Daniel W. Whittle, arranged by James McGranahan

“I know not why God’s wondrous grace to me He hath made known, nor why unworthy, Christ in love redeemed me for His own.

I know not how this saving faith to me He did impart, nor how believing in His word wrought peace within my heart.

I know not how the Spirit moves, convincing men of sin, revealing Jesus through the Word, creating faith in Him.

I know not what of good or ill may be reserved for me, of weary ways or golden days, before His face I see.

I know not when my Lord may come, at night or noonday fair, nor if I walk the vale with Him, or “meet Him in the air.”

But “I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto Him against that day.”

I Belong to the King

                                    I Belong to the King

“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.” Hebrews 12:22-23. O How wonderful it is to belong to the King and be accepted into this glorious city!

Lyrics by Ida L. Reed, arranged by Maurice A. Clifton

“I belong to the King, I’m a child of His love, I shall dwell in His palace so fair; For He tells of its bliss in yon heaven above, And His children in splendor shall share.

I belong to the King, and He loves me I know, For His mercy and kindness, so free, are unceasingly mine, wheresoever I go, and my refuge unfailing is He.

I belong to the King, and His promise is sure that we all shall be gathered at last in His kingdom above, by life’s waters so pure, when this life with its trials is past.

I belong to the King, I’m a child of His love, and He never forsakes His own; He will call me someday to His palace above, I shall dwell by His glorious throne.

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

A Shelter in the Time of Storm

Whether it be a physical storm, mental or spiritual storm God is in control. We can trust Him with our life and know that His arms will protect us. No harm will come to us that He doesn’t know about and can make right. No matter what our circumstance is God knows all about it and He will fight any fight we come against. All we have to do is trust and let go of our desire to fight the good fight ourselves.

Lyrics by Vernon J. Charlesworth, arranged by Ira D. Sankey

“The Lord’s our Rock, in Him we hide, A shelter in the time of storm; Secure whatever ill betide, A shelter in the time of storm.

A shade by day, defence by night, A shelter in the time of storm; No fears alarm, no foes affright, a shelter in the time of storm.

The raging storms may round us beat, a shelter in the time of storm; We’ll never leave our safe retreat, a shelter in the time of storm.

O Rock divine, O Refuge dear, a shelter in the time of storm; Be Thou our helper ever near, a shelter in the time of storm.

O, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, a weary land, a weary land; Oh, Jesus is a Rock in a weary land, a shelter in the time of storm.

A Child of The King

                                                A Child of the King

Our God holds all the riches of heaven and earth. There is none richer. Everything we own belongs to God. We would have nothing without Him. Our Savior came down and became the poorest of poor, He lived as we did and now He is in heaven asking the Father to pardon us so that He can adopt us and bring us home with Him. When He does, we will be living among the rich in a mansion prepared just for us. We are a child of God, and we can sing all glory to God.

Lyrics by Harriet E. Buell, arranged by John B Summers

“My Father is rich in houses and lands; He hold the wealth of the world in His hands! Of rubies and diamonds, of silver and gold, His coffers are full, He has riches untold.

My Father’s own Son, the Savior of men, once wandered on earth as the poorest of them; But now He is pleading our pardon on high, that we may be His when He comes by and by.

I once was an outcast stranger on earth, a sinner by choice, an alien by birth; But I’ve been adopted, my name’s written down, an heir to a mansion, a robe, and a crown.

A tent or a cottage, why should I care? They’re building a palace for me over there; Though exiled from home, yet still I may sing: All glory to God, I’m a child of the King.

I’m a child of the King, a child of the king: with Jesus my Savior I’m a child of the King.

Christ Liveth in Me

                                                Christ Liveth in Me

There may come a time in a Christians life that they may choose to go their own way and live the way they want and not within God’s will. Maybe the temptation was too great, and they walk away from God. It may feel good for a time, living their own way, but in the end, it will lead to destruction. “There is a way that appears to be right, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12NIV

Lyrics by Daniel W. Whittle, arranged by James McGranahan

“Once far from God and dead in sin, no light my heart could see; But in God’s Word the light I found, now Christ lives in me.

As rays of light from yonder sun, the flowers of earth set free, so life and light and love came forth from Christ living in me.

As lives the flower within the seed, as in the cone the tree, so, praise the God of truth and grace, His Spirit dwells in me.

With longing all my heart is filled, that like Him I may be, as on the wondrous thought I dwell that Christ lives in me.

Christ lives in me, Christ lives in me, Oh! What a salvation this, that Christ lives in me.”

He Included Me

                                    He Included Me

Even though Jesus died on the cross many years ago, He didn’t do it for just those who were there at the cross or all the people that existed in that time. He died for all the generations that came after that time. That included you and I. When the scriptures were written back in Moses’ time and the revelation of the future time, those scriptures were written for not only that time but for all the future time periods. That includes you and I. How wonderful to know that God thought of us even before we existed on this earth. He loved us then and He loves us now.

Lyrics by Johnson Oatman, Jr., arranged by Hampton H. Sewell

“I am so happy in Christ today, that I go singing along my way, yes, I’m so happy to know and say, “Jesus included me too.”

Gladly I read, “Whosoever may come to the fountain of life today;” But when I read it I always say, “Jesus included me too.”

Ever God’s Spirit is saying, “Come!” hear the bride saying, “No longer roam;” But I am sure while they’re calling home, “Jesus included me too.”

“Freely come drink” words the soul to thrill! O with what joy they my heart do fill! For when He said, “Whosever will,” Jesus included me too.

Jesus included me, yes, He included me, when the Lord said “whosoever” He included me; Jesus included me, Yes, He included me, When the Lord said “Whosoever”, He included me. Amen.

Christ Receiveth Sinful Men

                               Christ Receiveth Sinful Men

Whether you are the worst sinner in the world or an occasional sinner, of which there is no such thing. We are all sinners who have fallen short of the glory of God. Jesus receives them all. His grace His free to all who will accept it. He will give you rest and does not condemn those who reach out to Him. Don’t linger any longer, come to Jesus, He receives sinful men/women.

Lyrics by Erdmann Newumeister, arranged by James McGranahan

“Sinners Jesus will receive; sound this word of grace to all who the heavenly pathway leave, all who linger, all who fall.

Come, and He will give you rest; Trust Him, for His word is plain; He will take the sinfulest; Christ receiveth sinful men.

Now my heart condemns me no, pure before the law I stand; He who cleansed me from all spot, satisfied its last demand.

Christ receiveth sinful men, even me with all my sin; Purged from every spot and stain, Heaven with Him I enter in.

Sing it over and over again; Christ receiveth sinful men; make the message clear and plain: Christ receiveth sinful men.”

Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary

                                    Burdens Are Lifted at Calvary

Everybody deals with sorrow and heartache at one time or another in a lifetime. It’s hard to deal with sadness in the moment and sometimes it can seem overwhelming. When we look to Jesus and trust that He grants us wisdom and understanding, then clarity comes to us and all our burdens are lifted. Look to the cross, He carried all our burdens to the cross and leaves us with His grace.

Lyrics by John M. Moore, arranged by John M. Moore

“Days are filled with sorrow and care, hearts are lonely and drear; Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

Cast your care on Jesus today, leave your worry and fear; Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

Troubled soul, the Savior can see every heart-ache and tear; Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.

Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Calvary, Calvary; Burdens are lifted at Calvary, Jesus is very near.”

All things in Jesus

                                    All things in Jesus

Many people are looking for something to fill the hole inside them that never seems satisfied. Some search for it in alcohol, others in drugs, some search for it in immoral behavior. There is only one place, one person that can fill that hole. It is in Jesus Christ. He can provide all your needs. He can take away your sorrows, and He can help you overcome whatever sin you might indulge in. Turn to Jesus today, confess your sins, repent and accept His invitation to build a relationship with Him.

Lyrics by Harry D. Loes, arranged by Harry D. Loes

“Friends all around me are trying to find what the heart yearns for, by sin undermined; I have the secret, I know where it’s found; Only true pleasures in Jesus abound.

Some carry burdens whose weight has for years crushed them with sorrow and blinded with tears, yet one stands ready to help them just now, if they will humbly in penitence bow.

No other name thrills the joy-chords within, and through none else is remission of sin; He knows the pain of the heart surely tried, both need and want will by Him be supplied.

Jesus is all this poor world needs today, blindly they strive for sin darkens their way; O to draw back the grim curtains of night, one glimpse of Jesus and all will be bright!

All that I want is in Jesus, He satisfies, joy He supplies; Life would be worthless without Him, all things in Jesus I find.

Come, Ye Disconsolate

                                                Come, Ye Disconsolate

There is a place where you can take your sorrows, wounded heart and struggles. It is at the throne of God. Kneel and pray, ask Him to heal you and be with you in your struggles. He is there and He is willing to listen and answer your prayer. You can tell Him anything. Nothing surprises God. He wants to hear from you and guide you to the light. Take all your sorrows, guilt and questions to the throne of God. He will not turn you away and He will never leave you in your time of need.

Lyrics by Thomas Moore, arranged by Samuel Webbe

“Come, ye disconsolate, wherever you languish; Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel; Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; Earth has not sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

Joy of the desolate, light of the straying, Hope of the penitent, fadeless and pure, Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying, “Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot cure.

Here see the bread of life; see waters flowing forth from the throne of God, pure from above; Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove.” Amen

A New Name in Glory

                                    A New Name in Glory

Is your name written in the Book of Life? If it is then your sins have been forgiven and you have been saved by God’s grace. His blood that He shed on the cross for you and I have been shed to make us whole. The relationship you have with God’s son, is the only thing that can get your name written in the Book of Life. It is through Jesus Christ that we are saved.

Lyrics by C. Austin Miles

“I was once a sinner, but I came pardon to receive from my Lord; This was freely given, and I found that He always kept His word.

I was humbly kneeling at the cross, fearing naught but God’s angry frown; when the heavens opened and I saw that my name was written down.

In the Book tis written, “saved by Grace,” O the joy that came to my soul! Now I am forgiven, and I know by the blood I am made whole.

There’s a new name written down in glory, and its mine, O yes, it’s mine! And the white-robed angels sing the story, “A sinner has come home.” For there’s a new name written down in glory, and its mine, O yes, it’s mine! With my sins forgiven I am bound for heaven, nevermore to roam.”

Does Jesus Care?

                                                Does Jesus Care?

Amid heartache and pain, we often ask if Jesus cares. Is He here, does He see what we are going through. We may have lost a loved one and so dear to our heart. We may have stumbled and failed and seems there is no way out. Does Jesus care? Oh yes, without a shadow of a doubt. If you cry, He cries, His heart is tender enough to care. He never looks down on us but looks upon us as a mother does her child.  He knows what we go through and He cares enough to lift our burden and take it upon Himself. He cares enough to grant us the kind of peace that passes understanding. He wants us to ask for it, freely He gives.

Lyrics by Frank E. Graef, arranged by J. Lincoln Hall

“Does Jesus care when my heart is pained too deeply for mirth and song; as the burdens press, and the cares distress, and the way grows weary and long?

Does Jesus care when my way is dark with a nameless dread and fear? As the daylight fades into deep night shades, does He care enough to be near?

Does Jesus care when I’ve tried and failed to resist some temptation strong; When for my deep grief I find no relief, though my tears flow all the night long?

Does Jesus care when I’ve said goodbye to the dearest on earth to me, and my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks, is it aught to Him? Does He see?

O yes, He cares; I know He cares; His heart is touched with my grief; When the days are weary, the long nights dreary, I know my Savior cares. He cares.”

He's a Friend of Mine

                                                He’s a Friend of Mine

Everything we have, everything we see belongs to Christ and He is willing to share everything with us. Christ is such a good friend that He provides for us in all our needs. He shares His beauty in the landscapes around us. He shares the sun, moon and stars at night for us to gaze upon. And someday, He will share the glory of His throne with us and all the angels singing will join us in singing, He’s a Friend of Mine.

Lyrics by John H. Sammis, arranged by Daniel B. Towner

“Why should I charge my soul with care? The wealth of every mine belongs to Christ, God’s Son and heir, and He’s a friend of mine.

The silver moon, the golden sun, the countless stars that shine, are His alone, yes, every one, and He’s a friend of mine.

He daily spreads a glorious feast, and at His table dine the whole creation, man and beast, and He’s a friend of mine.

And when He comes in bright array, and leads the conquering line, it will be glory then to say, and He’s a friend of mine.

Yes, He’s a friend of mine, and He with me does all things share; since all is Christ’ and Christ is mine, why should I have a care? For Jesus is a friend of mine.

Throw Out the Lifeline

                                    Throw Out the Lifeline

What if today was the day Jesus comes to take us home? Are you ready? Are your friends and family ready? We must reach out to those who are not ready and throw them a life-line before it’s too late. The time is now to reach out and save a soul. Don’t wait, you may not get another chance. Teach them Jesus’ plan of salvation, help them to know Jesus and build on a relationship with Him. If you are one who needs to know Jesus, I encourage you to read God’s word and reach out to those who have the kind of relationship with Jesus that you need. Praying always for those who are in need of God’s grace.

Lyrics by Edward S. Ufford, arranged by George c. Stebbins.

“Throw out the Life-Line across the dark wave, there is a brother whom someone should save;  Somebody’s brother! Oh, who then will dare to throw out the Life-Line, his peril to share?

Throw out the Life-Line with hand quick and strong; Why do you tarry, why linger so long? See! He is sinking; oh, hasten today and throw out the Life-Boat! Away, then, away!

Throw out the Life-Line to danger fraught men, sinking in anguish where you’ve never been; Winds of temptation and billows of woe will soon hurl them out where the dark waters flow.

Soon will the season of rescue be over, soon will they drift to eternity’s shore, haste then, my brother, no time for delay, but throw out the Life-Line and save them today.

Throw out the Life-Line! Throw out the Life-Line! Someone is drifting away; Throw out the Life-Line! Thrown out the Life-Line! Someone is sinking today.

Help Somebody Today

                                    Help Somebody Today

Somebody just got diagnosed with a horrible disease; somebody just got notice from their spouse that their marriage is over. Somebody feels all alone and lonely. Somebody is overwhelmed with so many things happening at once. Everybody is in need for one thing or another, it is up to us to notice and lend a helping hand. Maybe it is just a smile, or a kind word, or a prayer, or a time spent with them away from their troubles. Whatever it is, God has placed that somebody in front of you for a purpose. Let Him guide you in helping them.

Lyrics by Carrie E. Breck, arranged by Charles H, Gabriel

“Look all around you, find someone in need, Help somebody today! Though it be little, a neighborly deed- Help somebody today!

Many are waiting a kind, loving word, Help somebody today! Thou has a message, O let it be heard, Help somebody today!

Many have burdens too heavy to bear, Help somebody today! Grief is the portion of some everywhere, Help somebody today!

Some are discouraged and weary in heart, Help somebody today! Some one the journey to heaven should start, Help somebody today!

Help somebody today.. Somebody along life’s way; Let sorrow be ended, the friendless befriended, Oh, help somebody today!

A Passion for Souls

                                                A Passion for Souls

A passionate person is an individual that embraces God and wants to share the message to any person who needs to know God. They set a godly example that makes others say, “I want to live like that.” They have a zeal for Christ that inspire and motivate those around them to live a positive life. We must all have a passion for souls and want them to be able to go to heaven along with us.

Lyrics by Herbert G. Tovey, arranged by Foss L. Fellers

“Give me a passion for souls, dear Lord, a passion to save the lost; Oh that Thy love were by all adored, and welcomed at any cost.

Though there are dangers untold and stern confronting me in the way, willingly still would I go, nor turn, but trust Thee for grace each day.

How shall this passion for souls be mine? Lord, make Thou the answer clear; Help me to throw out the old lifeline to those who are struggling near.

Jesus, I long, I long to be winning men who are lost, and constantly sinning; O may this hour be one of beginning the story of pardon to tell.

Rescue the Perishing

                                    Rescue the Perishing

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness.” Galatians 6:1, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, gentleness, self-control.” Galatians 5:22.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by William H. Doane

“Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, snatch them in pity from sin and the grave; Weep over the erring one, lift up the fallen, tell them of Jesus the mighty to save.

Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting, waiting the penitent child to receive; Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently, He will forgive if they only believe.

Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter, feelings lie buried that grace can restore; Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, chords that are broken will vibrate once more.

Rescue the perishing, duty demands it; Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide; Back to the narrow way patiently win them; tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.

Rescue the perishing, care for the dying; Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.”

No Other Plea

                                                No Other Plea

When we pray to God, we must believe that He will answer. We must come to Him without doubts. Believe that He is with us and hears our pleas. We must believe that He will take care of us and that His way is better than our way. God has our best interest in mind and will bless us as we believe in Him.

Lyrics by Lidie H. Edmunds, arranged by William J. Kirkpatrick

“My faith has found a resting place, not in device nor creed; I trust the ever living One, His wounds for me shall plead.

Enough for me that Jesus saves, this ends my fear and doubt; A sinful soul I come to Him, He’ll never cast me out.

My heart is leaning on the Word, the written word of God, Salvation by my Savior’s name, Salvation through His blood.

My great physician heals the sick, the lost He came to save; For me His precious blood He shed, for me His life He gave.

I need no other argument, I need no other plea, It is enough that Jesus died, and that He died for me.”

Jesus, Savior

                                                            Jesus, Savior

When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are saying that we surrender all that we have to Him. We don’t get to pick what part of our life we want to hand over to Jesus, He wants all of us, every single part of our life. When we do that, He guides us in making wise decisions, He lifts us up when we are down. He helps us in every aspect of our life. We become more like Christ when we surrender ourselves and our life to Him. We are loved by Him and want to hold us in His arms.

Lyrics by Herman Voss, arranged by Herman Voss

“Jesus, Savior, all I have is Thine, body, soul and will I now resign. Make me, keep me faithful unto Thee, Savior, through eternity.

Jesus, Savior, I would die to sin, come, oh come and live in me again. Mold me, fill me till the world shall see Jesus, Savior, living now in me.

Jesus, Savior, in this quiet hour, may I feel Thy Spirit’s strength and power; Take me, use me as Thou will each day, Savior, this I humbly pray.

Tell Me the Stories of Jesus

Tell Me the Stories of Jesus

So many questions we have that only God can answer. The answer can only come in the person of Jesus. Yet there are questions that are easily found in the book of God’s Word. There are many stories about Jesus; how He gathered all the children to Him, how He fed 5,000 people with only a few loaves of bread and some fish from a child’s basket. How He healed the sick and raised the dead. So many answers to our questions that can be found in the Bible. I encourage you to sit quietly with your Bible and get to know Jesus and all that He does for you. Build on a relationship that will take you to eternity with Him in heaven.

Lyrics by William H. Parker, arranged by Frederic A. Challenge

“Tell me the stories of Jesus I love to hear; Things I would ask Him to tell me if He were here; Scenes by the wayside, tales of the sea, stories of Jesus, tell them to me.

First let me hear how the children stood round His knee; And I shall fancy His blessing resting on me; Words full of kindness, deeds full of grace, all in the love-light of Jesus’ face.

Into the city I’d follow the children’s band, waving a branch of the palm tree high in my hand; One of His heralds, Yes, I would sing loudest hosannas! Jesus is King.” Amen

Savior Breathe an Evening Blessing

                        Savior Breathe an Evening Blessing

Too often, we go to bed and our mind takes off like it never had thought before. Swirling, from one subject to another. We worry about things we have no control over and things that may or may not happen. We need a blessing from the Savior; we pray that it is so. The night becomes dark and dreary, but we must understand that God’s angels are watching over us. He can calm our thoughts and give us peace that passes all understanding. We just need to ask for it, and it is done. Let go, Let God. That is my mantra when I have trouble sleeping. And if I die before morning, then I will rejoice that I am in heaven worshiping God Almighty.

Lyrics by James Edmenton, Arranged by George C. Stebbins

“Savior, breathe an evening blessing ere repose our spirit’s seal; Sin and want we come confessing, Thou canst save and Thou canst heal.

Though destruction walk around us. Though the arrows past us fly; Angel guards from Thee surround us, we are safe if Thou are nigh.

Though the night be dark and dreary, darkness cannot hide from Thee; Thou are He who, never weary, watchest where Thy people be.

Should swift death this night overtake us, and our couch become our tomb, may the morn in heaven awake us, clad in bright and deathless bloom.” Amen

Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone?

Must Jesus Bear the Cross Alone?

It was for our sins that Jesus died and what have we done about it? Has He died in vain or are we truly repentant of our sins? We must bear the burden of our sins and ask for forgiveness. Repentance means a change of heart. If we are going to ask, then we must repent. Let’s not let Jesus bear the cross alone, we have our own crosses to bear, and Jesus can help us overcome them and we need to do our part in allowing that to happen.

Lyrics by Thomas Shepherd, arranged by George N. Allen

“Must Jesus bear the cross alone, and all the world go free? No; there’s a cross for everyone, and there’s a cross for me.

The consecrated cross I’ll bear, till death shall set me free, and then go home my crown to wear, for there’s a crown for me.

Upon the crystal pavement, down at Jesus’ pierced feet, joyful, I’ll cast my golden crown, and His dear name repeat.

O precious cross! O glorious crown! O resurrection day! Ye angels, from the stars come down, and bear my soul away.

Glory to His Name

                        Glory to His Name

There is no other Name that we would glorify than the One who went to the cross and saved us from our sins. He is the precious fountain that fills our thirst and makes us complete. He can enter into your soul, all you have to do is accept Him as your Lord and Savior and be buried in the watery grave of baptism.

Lyrics by Elisha A. Hoffman, arranged by John H. Stockton

“Down at the cross where my Savior died, down where the cleansing from sin I  cried, thee to my heart was the blood applied, Glory to His name.

I am so wondrously saved from sin, Jesus so sweetly abides within, there at the cross where He took me in, Glory to His name.

Oh, precious fountain that saves from sin, I am so glad I have entered in; There Jesus saves me and keeps me clean, Glory to His name.

Come to this fountain so rich and sweet; Cast thy poor soul at the Savior’s feet; Plunge in today, and be made complete, Glory to His name.

Glory to His name, Glory to His name, there to my heart was the blood applied, Glory to His name.

Will Jesus Find Us Watching?

                        Will Jesus Find Us Watching?

We know that God watches over us day and night. But are we aware that Jesus is coming soon and we need to be watching for Him? We don’t know when He is coming so we need to prepare ourselves for this expected visitor. We need to live as if every day is the day He will come to take us home with Him. Our lives should be in a way that when He comes, He can truly say, “well done.” Whatever you do in your daily walk be sure it is God’s way so that He will find you watching for Him.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by William H. Doane

“When Jesus comes to reward His servants, whether it be noon or night, faithful to Him will He find us watching, with our lamps all trimmed and bright?

If, at the dawn of the early morning, He shall call us one by one, when to the Lord we restore our talents, will He answer thee, “Well done”?

Have we been true to the trust He left us? Do we seek to do our best? If in our hearts there is naught condemns us, we shall have a glorious rest.

Blessed are those whom the Lord finds watching, in His glory they shall share; If He shall come at dawn or midnight, will He find us watching there?

Oh, can we say we are ready, brother? Ready for the soul’s bright home? Say, will He find you and me still watching, waiting, waiting when the Lord shall come.”

Make Me a Channel of Blessing

Make Me a Channel of Blessing

How is your walk with God? Does it show up in your character? Can the love of God be seen in you? If we are to become a channel of blessing to those around us, we must first have a relationship with God. The blessings He hands down to us will freely flow onto those around us. Our speech, our actions speak volumes about our relationship with Jesus. We inherit a passion for those who are lost and have no trouble sharing the plan of salvation. The reason others are presented to us is that we might lead them to eternal life and receive the blessings of God.

Lyrics by Harper G. Smyth, arranged by Harper G. Smyth

“Is your life a channel of blessing? Is the love of God flowing through you? Are you telling the lost of the Savior? Are you ready His service to do?

Is your life a channel of blessing? Are you burdened by those that are lost? Have you urged upon those who are straying, the Savior who died on the cross?

Is your life a channel of blessing? Is it daily telling for Him? Have you spoken the word of salvation to those who are dying in sin?

We cannot be channels of blessing if our lives are not free from known sin; We will barriers be and a hindrance to those who are trying to win.

Make me a channel of blessing today, Make me a channel of blessing, I pray; My life possessing my service blessing, make me a channel of blessing today.”

Others

                                                            Others

Growing up, our parents taught us to live by this motto: Jesus first, others second, yourself last. Take the first letter of each word and it makes JOY. It is a joy to think of others before us. The reward comes in the form of God’s blessings. Putting God first in our life is a blessing. He in turn blesses us, whereby we can bless others. Giving up our own selfish desires and needs helps us grow in a closer relationship to Jesus and to others. Think of the song, “I Surrender all” and then grow in it.

Lyrics by Charles D. Meigs, arranged by Roscoe S. Nickerson

“Lord help me live from day to day, in such a self-forgetful way. That even when I kneel to pray, my prayer shall be for others.

Help me in all the work I do, to ever be sincere and true, and know that all I’d do for you, must needs be done for others.

Let “self” be crucified and slain, and buried deep; and all in vain may efforts be to rise again, Unless to live for others.

And when on earth my work is done, and my new work in heavens begun, May I forget the crown I’ve won while thinking still of others.

Others, Lord, yes, others, let this my motto be. Help me to live for others, that I might live for Thee.”

Make Me a Blessing

                                    Make Me a blessing

I have a Ministry from the Lord that I consider a blessing to me and to all those to whom I pass the blessing. There are many people in need of the Word of God and in need of physical and spiritual wealth. There are also people who might have everything but need a smile or a hug. All of these are blessings from God, that we count as blessings to pass forward in other’ lives. Help us Lord Jesus to Love those as you Love us.

Lyrics by Ira B. Wilson, arranged by George S. Schuler

“Out in the highways and byways of life, many are weary and sad; Carry the sunshine where darkness is rife, making the sorrowing glad.

Tell the sweet story of Christ and His love, tell of His power to forgive; Others will trust Him if only you prove true, every moment you live.

Give as was given to you in your need, Love as the Master loved you. Be to the helpless a helper indeed, unto your mission be true.

Make me a blessing, make me a blessing, out of my life may Jesus shine; Make me a blessing, O Savior, I pray, make be a blessing to someone today.”

It Pays to Serve Jesus

                                    It Pays to Serve Jesus

Whether we are providing food for the hungry, clothes for the needy, or help for the helpless. Whatever we do to serve others, it must be done in the name of Jesus. All credit goes to God. He gave us the skills and compassion to do the things we do. It is God who blesses us in order that we might bless others. In all that we say and do, let us do it all to the glory of God, and in a manner pleasing to Him.

Lyrics by Frank C. Huston, arranged by Frank C. Huston

“The service of Jesus true pleasure it affords, in Him there is joy without an alloy; Tis heaven to trust Him and rest on His words; it pays to serve Jesus each day.

It pays to serve Jesus whatever may betide, it pays to be true whatever you may do; Tis riches of mercy in Him to abide; it pays to serve Jesus each day.

Though sometimes the shadows may hang over the way, and sorrows may come to beckon us home, our precious Redeemer each toil will repay; it pays to serve Jesus each day.

It pays to serve Jesus, it pays everyday, it pays every step of the way; Though the pathway to glory may sometimes be drear, you’ll be happy each step of the way.”

My Savior's Love

                                                My Savior’s Love

When Jesus went to the cross, He wasn’t forced to do it. He didn’t do it for Himself. Not His will but God’s will. He willingly went to the cross to save you and I for our sins. When He walked this earth, He saw sin in everyone. He saw the great need for His love and care. He loved us so much that He cried for us, He sweat-drops of blood for us. Have you loved anyone that deeply? So deeply that you would be willing to die for them?

Lyrics by Charles H. Gabriel, arranged by Charles H. Gabriel

“I stand amazed in the presence of Jesus the Nazarene, and wonder how He could love me, a sinner, condemned, unclean.

For me it was in the garden He prayed: “Not My will, but Thine,” He had no tears for His own griefs, but sweat-drops blood for mine.

In pity angels beheld Him and came from the world of light to comfort Him in the sorrows He bore for my soul that night.

He took my sins and my sorrows, He made them His very own; He bore the burden to Calvary, and suffered, and died alone.

When with the ransomed in glory His face I at last shall see, “Twill be my joy through the ages to sing of His love for me.

How marvelous! How wonderful! And my song shall ever be; How marvelous! How wonderful! Is my Savior’s love for me!   Amen”

Let the Lower Lights be burning

Let the Lower Lights Be Burning

I have never been to a lighthouse, but I understand how the concept could be compared to God’s mercy. His mercy is unending and it shines as far and as bright as a lighthouse. He wants us to share that mercy with Him and with others. Mercy means not getting what we deserve. None of us deserve God’s mercy but because He gives it as a gift, all we have to do is accept it and extend it to others that don’t deserve it either but need it. Let us be aware of the people God puts before us. It may be some poor struggling soul that needs saved.

Lyrics by Philip P. Bliss, arranged by Phillip P. Bliss

“Brightly beams our Father’s mercy from His lighthouse evermore, but to us He gives the keeping of the lighthouse along the shore.

Dark the night of sin has settled, loud the angry billows roar; Eager eyes are watching, longing, for the lights along the shore.

Trim your feeble lamp, my brother, some poor sailor tempest tossed, trying now to make the harbor, in the darkness may be lost.

Let the lower lights be burning! Send a gleam across the wave! Some poor fainting, struggling seaman you may rescue, you may save.

God Be with You

                                                God Be with You

This is one of my favorite songs. It is a sentiment that can be used in different ways. It can be used as a parting remark to a friend or a loved one that you expect to see again, hoping for the very best for them while you are apart.

It can be parting words from a person who is dying and hopes to see you once again in heaven. It can also be a eulogy of a person who has already passed away. This would be an invitation for the ones at the funeral to follow God and allow Him to protect you until your dying day when you can meet that person once again in heaven.

Lyrics by Jeremiah E. Rankin, arranged by William G. Tomer

“God be with you till we meet again; By His counsels’ guide, uphold you, with His sheep securely fold you; God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again; Neath His wings protecting hide you, daily manna still provide you; God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again; When Life’s perils thick confound you, put His arms unfailing round you; God be with you till we meet again.

God be with you till we meet again; Keep love’s banner floating over you; Smite death’s threatening wave before you; God be with you till we meet again.

Till we meet, till we meet, till we meet at Jesus’ feet; Till we meet, till we meet, God be with you till we meet again.”

Savior, More Than Life to Me

Savior, More Than Life to Me

As this world changes, we need Jesus more than ever. To trust Him and know that He is always nearby. Trusting that He will guide us through this life and keep us from going astray. Striving always to Love Jesus more than ever and soak in His love for us.

Lyrics by Fanny J. Crosby, arranged by William H. Doane

“Savior, more than life to me, I am clinging, clinging close to Thee; Let Thy precious blood applied, keep me ever, ever near Thy side.

Through this changing world below, lead me gently, gently as I go; Trusting Thee, I cannot stray, I can never, never lose my way.

Let me love Thee more and more, Till this fleeting, fleeting life is over; Till my soul is lost in love, in a brighter, brighter world above.

Every day, every hour, let me feel Thy cleansing power.

What if it Were Today?

                                                What if it Were Today?

What if Jesus were coming today, would you be ready? Are you ready to be taken up in the clouds or will you be left behind? Jesus is coming to raise the dead and to take His children home. He is looking for His faithful children that have surrendered to Him and have obeyed His commands. It is not enough to be good or a serving servant. He wants obedient servants. He wants us to shower Him with Love as He showers us with Love.

Lyrics by Leila N. Morris, arranged by Leila N. Morris

“Jesus is coming to earth again, what if it were today? Coming in power and love to reign, what if it were today? Coming to claim His chosen Bride, all the redeemed and purified, over this whole earth scattered wide, what if it were today?

Satan’s dominion will then be over, O that it were today! Sorrow and sighing shall be no more, O that it were today! Then shall the dead in Christ arise, caught up to meet Him in the skies, when shall these glories meet our eyes? What if it were today?

Faithful and true would He find us here if He should come today? Watching in gladness and not in fear, If He should come today? Signs of His coming multiply, morning light breaks in eastern sky, watch, for the time is drawing nigh, what if it were today?

Glory, glory! Joy to my heart  will bring; Glory, glory!  When we shall crown Him King; Glory, glory! Haste to prepare the way; Glory, glory! Jesus will come some day.

Have You Any Room for Jesus?

Have You Any Room for Jesus?

What is it that you fill your waking hours with? Is there any room in your life for Jesus? Every minute of our life belongs to God. He gave us breath to live and the abilities we have to get through the day. As humans, we should be mindful of how much we give back to God? Is He welcome in our home, or do we have things we rather keep from Him? Do we spend any time talking to Him or are we too busy for Him? God knows all, sees all and wants to hear from us. He wants to be welcomed not only in your home, but also into your heart. Make God part of your life and He will guide you always.

Lyrics by source unknown, arranged by Daniel W. Whittle

“Have you any room for Jesus, He who bore your load of sin? As He knocks and asks admission, sinner, will you let Him in?

Room for pleasure, room for business, but for Christ the crucified, not a place that He can enter, in the heart for which He died?

Have you any room for Jesus, as in grace He calls again? O today is time accepted, tomorrow you may call in vain.

Room and time now give to Jesus, soon will pass God’s Day of grace; Soon thy heart left cold and silent, and thy Savior’s pleading cease.

Room for Jesus, King of Glory! Hasten now His word obey; Swing the heart’s door widely open, bid Him enter while you may.”
