I
Kings 14 – Jeroboam’s child
Jeroboam
sent his wife to inquire of Ahijah the prophet because their son is very sick.
The Lord’s reply was that the child will die.
God
saw true devotion in the son and would not permit him to grow up in such an
evil home. The boy was the only male to have a decent burial and be mourned.
Under
King Rehoboam, Solomon’s great kingdom lost both the tribes and their treasures.
The costly golden shield was replaced by bronze shields, but the guards and the
king went through the same ceremony.
In
today’s time everything looks the same, but value has vanished. All is left is
keeping up appearances.
