Chronicles 15 – David Gathered all the Levites
You
will recall that David blamed God when Uzza was struck down for reaching out to
stable the ark. Then David realized he himself was the one that was in the
wrong, and he confessed that.
After
he gathered the Levites to carry the ark, being the musician that he was, he
wanted music with all of this. He wanted the brass band, the orchestra and all
the choirs. It was to be a great day when the ark of God was brought to
Jerusalem. This was the high point of David’s coming to Jerusalem. Then they
offered seven bullocks and seven rams. All these sacrifices pointed to Christ.
The
world in that day heard about David bringing up the ark to Jerusalem. Visitors
from other countries probably said, “You should have been in Jerusalem with me.
It was a great day!”
There
is nothing in the newscasts, nothing on the front pages of the newspapers,
which is spiritual, or which shows the joy of the Lord. Today that which is
spiritual and joyful has disappeared from the life of America. That is when we
as a nation have begun to die.
Then
we see that not everyone was in accord with David in this celebration.
Michal
was Saul’s daughter and the first wife of David. She looked at him showing his
enthusiasm and joy in serving the Lord, and she thought in her heart, He is a
religious fanatic.
We
need the underlying river of joy flowing through the hearts and lives of God’s
people.
