Josiah's Good Reign. II Kings 22

II Kings 22 – Josiah’s Good Reign

Josiah began to reign when he was eight years old and reigned for thirty-one years. He was one of the best kings who reigned after Solomon. He led a movement that resulted in the greatest revival these people ever had after David and Solomon. He did that which was right in the sight of the Lord. The revival began with him.

Josiah had the people repair the temple. In the temple they found the lost Bible. They found the Word of God and put it back in their lives. The Word of God is the only weapon we have against Satan. A return to the Bible must be the beginning of a revival.

When Josiah heard the Word of God for the first time, he tore his clothes as an expression of deep emotion. Without the Word of God, they did not realize how far they had strayed from God’s law. Josiah was frightened because he knew they deserved God’s judgment. Real revival does not come unless there is true repentance.

Through Huldah, the prophetess God reveals his grace to Josiah. He says, “I have heard thee. Therefore, I will gather you unto your fathers, and you shall be gathered into your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place.”
