II
Chronicles 25 Amaziah
Amaziah
had executed the men who had murdered his father.
Nowadays we stand judged based on our own
sins. You will never go to heaven just because you had godly parents. We will
go to heaven because of the faith that we, individually exercise in Christ.
Amaziah
is getting ready for war. He hires a mercenary army of soldiers from Israel.
A
man of God warns Amaziah to trust God. He should know that God would not want
him to hire men of Israel. Amaziah obeyed. He separated the army of Israel from
his own army and sent them back to Israel. Then God gave him a victory over the
children of Seir.
Then
Amaziah brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his
gods, and bowed down before them, and burned incense to them.
The
anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah. So, civil war breaks out again. Joash,
the king of Israel and Amaziah spoke to each other, and Joash insulted him with
a parable saying, in as much, “If you stay home and mind your own business, you
won’t get hurt.” Amaziah did not listen. So, God judged him.
It
was an easy victory for Israel and was a fulfillment of the prophet’s warning.
