Must I Go, and Empty handed?

Must I Go, and Empty Handed?

Are you wasting your life in sinning and not turning to God? Have you fled from God and wasted your life in doing your own thing? At one time I believe we have all done that and now we wish we could bring back those days and have a do-over. We can’t have a do-over but we can have a revival in our life and come back stronger and better than ever. We can serve God and others and win souls for the Lord. We want to go to heaven and be with Jesus, but we don’t want to go empty handed. We want to bring others with us.

Lyrics by Charles C. Luther, arranged by George C. Stebbins

“Must I go, and empty-handed,” Thus my dear Redeemer meet? Not one day of service give Him, lay no trophy at His feet?

Not at death I shrink nor falter, for my Savior saves me now; But to meet Him empty-handed, thought of that now clouds my brow.

O the years in sinning wasted, could I but recall them now, I would give them to my Savior, to His will I’d gladly bow.

O ye saints, arouse, be earnest, up and work while yet this day; Ere the night of death overtakes thee, strive for souls while still you may.

“Must I go, and empty-handed?” Must I meet my Savior so? Not one soul with which to greet Him; Must I empty-handed go?”
