Tell It to Jesus

Tell It to Jesus

Are you anxious about tomorrow? Do you grieve over past sins? Are you fearful about dying? Are you afraid you may not be accepted to heaven? These are all questions we have pondered at one time or another. The answer lies within our prayers. Telling all our problems to Jesus relieves the stress we experience in our life. He will give us forgiveness; He will bring clarity to us and understanding of what we do to overcome what bothers us. There’s no other friend or brother that we can take our troubles to that will help us in our time of need.

Lyrics by Jeremiah E. Rankin, arranged by Edmund S. Lorenz

“Are you weary, are you heavy-hearted? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; Are you grieving over joys departed?

Do the tears flow down your cheeks unbidden? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; Have you sins that to men’s eyes are hidden?

Do you fear the gathering clouds of sorrow? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; Are you anxious what shall be tomorrow?

Are you troubled at the thought of dying? Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus; For Christ’s coming Kingdom are you sighing?

Tell it to Jesus alone. Tell it to Jesus, tell it to Jesus, He is a friend that’s well known; You’ve no other friend or brother, tell it to Jesus alone.

Teach Me to Pray

Teach Me to Pray

I’ve heard it said that there is power in prayer. I sometimes wonder where the power is in my prayers as my mind seems to go on rabbit trails when I talk to God. It isn’t until I see that my scattered prayers were actually heard and He has answered them. Thank the Lord for the Holy Spirit who translates our prayers to the ears of God. God wants to hear what we have to say and even though we can’t see Him with our eyes, He sees us and hears us. If you have trouble praying, then go to Mathew 6:5-15 and start there. From there you can build a relationship with Jesus and learn how to pray.

Lyrics by Albert S. Reitz, arranged by Albert S. Reitz

“Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray; This is my heart-cry, day unto day; I long to know Thy will and Thy way; Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.

Power in prayer, Lord, power in prayer; Here mid earth’s sin and sorrow and care; Men lost and dying, souls in despair; O give me power, power in prayer!

My weakened will, Lord, Thou canst renew; My sinful nature Thou canst subdue; Fill me just now with power anew; Power to pray and power to do!

Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray; Thou art my Pattern, day unto day; Thou art my surety, now and for aye; Teach me to pray, Lord, teach me to pray.

Living in Thee, Lord, and Thou in me; Constant abiding, this is my plea; Grant me Thy power, boundless and free; Power with men and power with Thee.

Revive thy Work

Revive Thy Work

To revive something is to deepen a believer’s faith, opening his or her eyes to the truth in a fresh, new way. It’s a fresh start with a clean slate, making a new beginning of a life lived in obedience to God. Revival breaks the power and charm of the world, which blinds the eyes of men and generates the will and power to live in the world but not of the world. If your life has been in a stagnate status or you have left God for a period, then ask God to revive His work in you and give God the glory.

Lyric by Alfred Midlane, arranged by James McGranahan

“Revive Thy work, O Lord! Thy mighty arm make bare; Speak with the voice that wakes the dead, and make Thy people hear.

Revive Thy work, O Lord! Disturb this sleep of death; Quicken the smoldering embers now by Thine almighty breath.

Revive Thy work, O Lord! Create soul-thirst for Thee; But hungering for the bread of life, oh, may our spirits be!

Revive Thy work, O Lord! Exalt Thy precious name; And, by the Holy Ghost, our love for Thee and Thine inflame.

Revive, revive!  And give refreshing showers; The glory shall be all Thine own; The blessing shall be ours.”

I Must Tell Jesus

I Must Tell Jesus

Everyone needs someone to tell their troubles to. Whether it be a Minister, Doctor, Lawyer or a close friend. Or maybe you are the type of person who nurses their problem, then rehearses it and disperses it to everyone you meet. Unfortunately, our society is filled with people who take their problems to a physical person and forgets about taking them to the One who knows all, sees all and understands what you need. It takes a lot of faith and trust to take our problems to someone that we can’t see or touch, but Jesus is here waiting with open arms to listen and do what is necessary to end your troubles. Tell your problems to Jesus first and you won’t need to share it with everyone else.

Lyrics by Elisha A. Hoffman, arranged by Elisha A. Hoffman

“I must tell Jesus all my trials; I cannot bear these burdens alone; In my distress He kindly will help me; He ever loves and cares for His own.

I must tell Jesus all of my troubles; He is a kind, compassionate friend; If I but ask Him, He will deliver; Make of my troubles quickly an end.

Tempted and tried I need a great Savior; One who can help my burdens to bear; I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus; He all my cares and sorrows will share.

O how the world of evil allures me! O how my heart is tempted to sin; I must tell Jesus and He will help me over the world the victory to win.

I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! I cannot bear my burdens alone; I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus! Jesus can help me, Jesus alone!”

Sweet Hour of Prayer

                                    Sweet Hour of Prayer

There is a place where you can go to make all your wishes known, to lay all your stress and grief in the hands of God. There is a place where you can turn from temptation and cast your every care. It is in your prayers to Almighty God. He has a listening ear and wants us to come to Him with all our wishes, cares, and struggles. He wants us to trust His word and His grace. Trust that He has a place for all of us who come to Him and trust Him to take care of us in even the littlest things.

Lyrics by William W. Walford, arranged by William B. Bradbury

“Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care and bids me at my Father’s throne make all my wants and wishes known; In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief, and oft escaped the tempter’s snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer.

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! Thy wings shall my petition bear to Him whose truth and faithfulness engage the waiting soul to bless; and since He bids me seek His face, believe His word and trust His grace, I’ll cast on Him my every care, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer.

Sweet hour of prayer! Sweet hour of prayer! May I thy consolation share, till from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height, I view my home and take my flight; This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise to seize the everlasting prize; and shout, while passing thro’ the air, fair well, farewell, sweet hour of prayer.”

I'd Rather Have Jesus

                                                I’d Rather Have Jesus

There are no amount of silver or gold or material possessions that can take the place of a good relationship with Jesus. There is no amount of praise or popularity that can take the place of “Well done thou good and faithful servant” we will receive from Jesus when we are face to face with Him in heaven. Our relationship with Jesus determines how we succeed here on earth and whether we will enter the Kingdom of Heaven to sit at the footstool of the throne of God. We can’t see God without a relationship with Jesus.

Lyrics by Rhea F. Miller, arranged by George Beverly Shea

“I’d rather have Jesus that silver or gold, I’d rather be His than riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands, I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hands.

I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause, I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause; I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame, I’d rather be true to His Holy name.

He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom, He’s sweeter than honey from out of the comb; He’s all that my hungering spirit needs, I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead.

Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin’s dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day

This time of year, we get to enjoy Christmas carolers and most of the songs they sing are about peace on earth, good will toward men. We live in a chaotic world and sometimes find it hard to find peace, much less good will toward men. One thing we can hang on to is the fact that this world is not our home, we are just passing through. There will come a time when all the songs and all our hopes of peace and good will, will come true. Let us focus on the Promises of God and continue to sing about peace and good will toward mankind.

Lyrics by Henry W. Longfellow, arranged by J. Baptiste Calkin

“I heard the bells on Christmas Day their old familiar carols play, and wild and sweet the words repeat of peace on earth, good will to men.

I thought how, as the day had come, the belfries of all Christendom had rolled along the unbroken song of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said, “For hate is strong, and mocks the song of peace on earth, good will to men.”

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep; “God is not dead, nor doth He sleep, The wrong shall fail, the right prevail, with peace on earth, good will to men.”

Till, ringing, singing on its way, the world revolved from night to day, A voice, a chime, a chant sub-lime, of peace on earth, good will to men!”
