I’d
Rather Have Jesus
There are no amount of silver or gold or material
possessions that can take the place of a good relationship with Jesus. There is
no amount of praise or popularity that can take the place of “Well done thou
good and faithful servant” we will receive from Jesus when we are face to face
with Him in heaven. Our relationship with Jesus determines how we succeed here
on earth and whether we will enter the Kingdom of Heaven to sit at the footstool of the throne of God. We can’t see
God without a relationship with Jesus.
Lyrics by Rhea F. Miller, arranged by George Beverly Shea
“I’d rather have Jesus that silver or gold, I’d rather
be His than riches untold; I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands, I’d
rather be led by His nail-pierced hands.
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause, I’d rather be
faithful to His dear cause; I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame, I’d
rather be true to His Holy name.
He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom, He’s sweeter
than honey from out of the comb; He’s all that my hungering spirit needs, I’d
rather have Jesus and let Him lead.
Than to be the king of a vast domain or be held in sin’s
dread sway; I’d rather have Jesus than anything this world affords today.
