Silent
Night! Holy Night!
Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem for the census. There
were many people in town, and it is hard to imagine that the night was silent. However,
if the soon to be baby was expected to be born, those who knew of it can be
silently waiting for the Holy night to bring forth a Savior. Once Jesus was
born the Heavenly hosts were singing Hallelujah. The star shone down on His
face, and the shepherds and wise men looked upon Him in humble amazement.
Lyrics by Joseph Mohr, arranged by Franz Grueber
“Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright
round yon virgin mother and child. Holy infant so tender and mild, sleep in
heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace.
Silent night, holy night, Shepherds quake at the sight,
glorious stream from heaven afar, Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia; Christ the
Savior is born, Christ the Savior is born!
Silent night, holy night, Son of God, love’s pure light
radiant beams from thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace, Jesus, Lord
at thy birth, Jesus, Lord at thy birth.
Silent night, holy night, wonderous star, lend thy light;
with the angels let us sing, Alleluia to our King; Christ the Savior is born,
Christ the Savior is born.
