Did
You Think to Pray?
When you wake up in the morning, did you think to pray? Did
you ask the Lord for blessings on your day and a shield of protection against temptations
or even harm? Ddi you recognize the Holy Spirit who watched over you through
the night and guided you through the day? Did you think to praise Him for his
protection. God’s grace abounds when you are loving and forgiving to other
people just as He forgave you. Let us not let our troubles draw us down but let
us Let God lift us up. He is a balm for our sorrows.
Lyrics by Mrs. M.A. Kidder, arranged by W.O. Perkins
“Ere you left your room this morning, did you think to
pray? In the name of Christ our Savior, did you sue for loving favor, as a
shield today?
When you met with great temptation, did you think to
pray? By His dying love and merit, did you claim the Holy Spirit as your guide
and stay?
When your heart was filled with anger, did you think to
pray? Did you plead for grace my brother, that you might forgive another who
had crossed your way?
When sore trials came upon you, did you think to pray?
When your soul was bowed in sorrow, balm of Gilead did you borrow, at the gates
of day?
Oh, how praying rests the weary! Prayer will change the
night to day; so in sorrow and gladness, don’t forget to pray.
