Blessed Redeemer
There He was hanging on a cross, blood dripping down and a
crown of thorns on His head. Jesus didn’t ask, “Why me?” He didn’t call for
revenge on the people that put Him there. He suffered but He didn’t complain.
Instead, He looked on the people and asked God to forgive them. His shoulders
were burdened down with sins of the people. Not just the witnesses who hung Him
there but for all those who lived then and live now and in the future. Jesus
knew each person He died for and loved us so much that He willingly died for
us. There wasn’t a more selfless, loving person that ever lived like the Jesus
who shed His blood for us.
Lyrica by Avis B. Christiansen, arranged by Harry D. Loes
“ Up Calvary’s mountain one dreadful morn walked Christ
my Savior weary and worn; Facing for sinners’ death on the cross, that He might
save them from endless loss.
“Father, forgive them!” thus did He pray, Even while His lifeblood
flowed fast away; Praying for sinners while in such woe – No one but Jesus ever
loved us so.
O how I love Him, Savior and friend, how can my praises ever
find end! Through years unnumbered on heaven’s shore, my tongue shall praise
Him forever more.
Blessed Redeemer! Precious Redeemer! Seems now I see Him
on Calvary’s tree; Wounded and bleeding, for sinners pleading, Blind and
unheeding, dying for me!”
