Numbers
2 What Tribe are You?
The
tabernacle was placed in the camp and the children of Israel would camp around
it. They would put up their standards to
mark their place in the camp. On the
East side Judah, Issachar ad Zebulun camped together under one standard. On the South was Reuben, Simeon, and Gad. On
the west side was Manasseh, Benjamin, and Ephraim. The North was Asher, Naphtali, and Dan. The Levites were not numbered among the
children of Israel.
The
children had to know their pedigree to know their place in camp. They could not go to war unless they were
sure of their position. Our enemies
today are the world, the flesh, and the devil.
They will overcome you if you are not sure of your salvation.
All
service in the church is to be directed by the Holy Spirit. We are told that by one Spirit we are all
baptized into one body. “For as the body
is one and has many members, being many, are one body: so also, is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into
one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond, or free; and have
been all made to drink into one Spirit.
For the body is not one member but many.” I Cor. 12:12-14. So in the body of Christ
there are many gifts and each of us is to exercise his/her gift. We need to
find our place in camp and do the job that God has called us to do.
