Psalm 91 - Dwelling in Him, Psalm 92 - Thank the Lord

Psalm 91 – Dwelling in Him

God preserves those who abide in Him and love Him. These promises are not for people who run to the Lord only in times of danger but for those who dwell in His presence and make the Holy of Holies their dwelling place.

Snares and pestilences, arrows, plagues stones, and lions and snakes are the dangers we face. We can also give the modern equivalents for these ancient perils that Jewish travelers faced.

The abiding life produces the assuring life, the life without fear; which leads to the abounding life. The life of victory and peace. The safest place in the world is under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 92 Thank the Lord

It is good to thank the Lord for every day He gives us. As the day begins, we can look ahead by faith and praise Him for His loving kindness. As the day ends, we can look back and praise Him for His faithfulness.

It is good to thank the Lord that we are part of what is eternal. We cannot understand eternity, but we can have eternal life through faith in Christ; and we can live for what is eternal. (I John 2:17) (I Corinthians 15:58).

It is even good to thank the Lord for old age. In old age, those who live for Christ become fresh, flourishing, fruitful, and faithful. Instead of complaining, they are praising the Lord and witnessing Him.
