Psalm
134 – Night Shift
Have
you ever given thanks for the people who work the night shift? Were it not for
them, you would have no electricity or water at night, no fire for police
protection, or no emergency service at the hospital. While you are asleep,
others are serving.
But
do the people on the night shift give thanks? Perhaps not. The psalmist
admonished the priests in the temple to give thanks as they served God and the
people at night. It may have been a lonely ministry, but it was an important
ministry.
Your
High Priest in heaven intercedes for you day and night. He never grows weary or
impatient. Have you told Him you are thankful for His faithful ministry? Are
you willing to be like Him and serve others, even on the night shift?
Psalm
135 – Praise the Lord
Four
reasons why the Lord deserves your heartfelt praise:
He
is the God of salvation. In His grace, He chose you; in His mercy, He made you
His special treasure. You belong to Him. He values you and He loves you.
He
is the God of creation. Which means He provides for you day after day and gives
you the things you need. He is in charge of the storms and uses them to
accomplish His perfect will.
He
is the God of history. The Jews prided themselves in the fact that God worked
especially on behalf of their nation. He worked for Israel and through Israel
to bring about His great plan of salvation.
He
is the God of celebration. These verses show the greatness of the living God in
contrast to the dead idols of the nations. Celebrate the Lord today! Bless His
Holy name!
