Needing God’s Protection

 

Psalm 27:1-3, Psalm 91, Philippians 4:19

The Lord is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear?” “The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” Psalm 91:1

“For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Psalm 91:1-12.

“He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:15-16

“And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:19

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

Lonely

 

Lonely

Psalm 23, Hebrews 13:5,6

“Yea, though I walk through the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for you are with me, your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4

“For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Hebrews 13:5.

Loneliness feels like a cloud of sadness that envelopes you. It is depression. It is a disconnection, a gap between he connection one desires and the ones they have. It is a form of social pain. A need for intimacy.

One way to overcome loneliness is to seek out others who may need a helping hand. It is a great comfort to be needed and to be able to comfort someone else.

Volunteer work is a great way to show others that you care and are useful and can benefit many people.

Above all else, wherever you are mentally, physically, spiritually, remember God is always there by your side.

Lip Service

 

Lip Service

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of Heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven.” Matthew 7:21

Lip service is expressing approval or support for something or someone without taking any significant action.

One might pledge their allegiance to God but if they do not obey His commandments and do the will of God, it is merely lip service.

It is one thing to say God is my Father but if we don’t pay our respects to God in prayer, worship and praise, then we are only going through the motions and not confirming our belief in God. Our words must be followed by our actions.

Leaving Home

Psalm 121, Matthew 10:16-20

“The Lord is your keeper; The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.” Psalm 121:5-8

“Behold, I send you out as sheep amid wolves. Therefore, be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” Matthew 10:16

Are you considering going out on your own? Maybe moving into your first home, going off to college, or just seeking a place of solitude? Whatever the case, just know that God is always with you, watching over you, protecting you and will help you on your journey. Stand strong and rely on God always.

Hypocrisy

Matthew 23:27,28

“Woe, to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly but inside are full of dead men’s bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.” Matthew 23:27,28

A hypocrite is someone who puts on a false appearance of virtue or religion but acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.

A hypocrite is someone who pretends to have certain beliefs or qualities that they don’t have.

A hypocrite is someone who gathers gossip and reveals others’ secrets and finds pleasure in the consequences of their misdeeds.

We must always tell our truths and live by them so that others will see it as truth. Let us live as Christ would have us live.

Hatred/Enemies

Matthew 5:43-48

“But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:44,45

There are people in our life that we may not like, and people who may not like us. Not everyone can be of the same mind and pleasing to each other.

When we look at the people we don’t like; try looking at them through God’s eyes. God loves that person as much as He loves us. God created that person and has placed them in our lives for a reason. Maybe it is to teach us patience, or maybe it is to make us look inward at our own selves. Either way God is telling us to love our enemies, do good to our enemies, and pray for them. We don’t have to like the things they do, but we do have to love them.

If God can love us with all our imperfections and sinful ways, who are we that we can’t love even our enemies.

Greed

 

Greed

Luke 12:15:31

“One’s life does not consist in the abundance of things he possesses. It is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.”

And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

Seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”

We as humans always want more, more love, more happiness, more possessions, more money, more clothes, more food and so much more. What we don’t think about is the fact that we can’t take it with us when we die, and that God always provides all we need.

“Not that I speak in respect to want, for I have learned in whatever state I am, therewith to be content.” Philippians 4:11

Considering what Paul was saying, he had so many trials and tribulations that of all people who could have been depressed. He could have wanted so much more but he knew God had a plan for him and he was willing to go through all that he went through to be a true testimony for God. I encourage you to read through Philippians to know Paul’s history and all that he went through.
