O Worship the King

O Worship the King

This song is praise to the Sovereign Lord for His creation and providence. It is taken from Psalm 104 by Robert Grant and adapted by J. Michael Haydn.

David sings this praise to the God who created all things with a spoken word. Such a Mighty God that we have as our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend.

“O worship the King, all glorious above, and gratefully sing His wonderful love; Our shield and Defender, the Ancient of days, pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise.

O tell of His might, and sing of His grace, whose robe is the light whose canopy space; His chariots of wrath the deep thunder-clouds form, and dark is His path on the wings of the storm.

Thy bountiful care what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light, it streams from the hills, it descends to the plain and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain.

Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail; thy mercies how tender! How firm to the end! Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer and Friend!”

How awesome is our God and so worthy of our praise. Please read Psalm 104 and sing this song with the scriptures in mind. It will make your heart soar.

All Hail the Power of Jesus Name

All Hail the Power of Jesus Name

This song reminds us there is no other name on earth or in heaven that is greater than Jesus Christ. Even the angels bow down to Him. He is royalty and is crowned Lord above all. It is an exciting honor to ascribe Him as Majesty, and a privilege to thank Him for saving us by His grace. Let us join and sing this song from the bottom of our heart.

Lyrics by Edward Parronet, arranged by Oliver Holden:

“All hail the power of Jesus name! Let angels prostrate fall; Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race, Ye ransomed from the fall, Hail Him who saves you by His grace, And crown Him Lord of all.

Let every kindred, every tribe on this terrestrial ball, To Him all majesty ascribes, And crown Him Lord of all.

O that with yonder sacred throng we at His feet may fall, we’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.

We’ll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all!”

O For a Faith That Will Not Shrink

O For a Faith that Will Not Shrink

I am on a mission to introduce songs to you that you may or may not know. Songs that are sung but not listened to. We sing with our lips, but sometimes our minds and our hearts are far away. My purpose it to have us not only read the words but study them until we understand them. Then when we sing the songs, our heart and mind will receive it.

Today’s song is about faith that we all crave. A faith that is not fearful and can stand against any trial. Let us look at the words of “O for a faith that will not Shrink” by William H. Balhurst and arranged by John B. Dykes:

“O for a faith that will not shrink, Tho pressed by every foe. That will not tremble on the brink of any earthly woe!

That will not murmur or complain beneath the chastening rod. But, in the hour of grief or pain, will lean upon its God.

A faith that shines brighter and clearer when tempests rage without; That when in danger knows no fear, in darkness feels no doubt.

Lord, give us such a faith as this, and then, whate’er may come, we’ll taste, e’en here, the hallowed bliss of an eternal home.”

Breathe on Me, Breath of God

Breathe on Me, Breath of God

God loves us so much that He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for us.

We are to do what God does, and that is to love one another with a pure heart until God’s will become our will, and we are willing to endure His will upon us.

Once we can endure God’s will, we will become wholly His and a fire will grow inside us, and we will live with Him forevermore.

Lyrics by Edwin Hatch and Robert Jackson:

“Breathe on me, Breath of God, fill me with life anew, That I may what thou dost love, And do what thou wouldst do.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, until my heart is pure, Until with Thee I will one will, to do and to endure.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, Till I am wholly thine, until this earthly part of me glows with thy fire divine.

Breathe on me, Breath of God, so shall I never die, But live with Thee the perfect life of Thine eternity.  Amen.”

Guess Who's Coming Soon!

Guess Who’s Coming Soon!

What will you be doing when Jesus comes? Are you ready to invite Him into your home? If we were to sit down and think about our daily life, would we be happy to share it with Jesus or would we be ashamed, wanting to hide our deeds in the closet? Would we sweep them under the rug, so they won’t be exposed? Even before we have a chance to hide, God knows where we are and what we are doing. We cannot hide anything from the all-seeing, all-knowing God. Ask yourself if there is anything in your life that you wouldn’t want Jesus to see or know. Consider setting it out of your life and concentrate on what would be best for Jesus’ coming. Jesus says, He doesn’t want part of you, He wants all of you. Get ready, Jesus is coming soon, and He is going to collect what is rightfully His. If you are a believer in Him, then you are His child, and He is coming to take you home with Him. To a room prepared just for you. Don’t you want to give Him all your love and leave all your baggage behind? The door is open, and He invites you in. It is never too late.

Have you Any Room for Jesus Lyrics arranged by Daniel W. Whittle & C.c. Williams:

Have you any room for Jesus, He who bore your load of sin? As He knocks and asks admission, Sinner, will you let Him in?

Room for pleasure, room for business, but for Christ crucified, Not a place that He can enter, In the heart for which He died?

Have you any room for Jesus, as in grace He calls again? O today is time accepted, Tomorrow you may call in vain.

Room and time now give to Jesus, soon will pass God’s day of grace; Soon thy heart left cold and silent, And thy Savior’s pleading cease.

Room for Jesus, King of glory! Hasten now His word obey; Swing the heart’s door widely open, Bid Him enter while you may.

How Will it End?

How Will It End?

“Behold, the Lord God shall come with a strong hand, and His arm shall rule for Him, and His work before Him.” Isaiah 40:10

“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” Matthew 16:27

“And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” Revelation 22:12

“His Lord said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things; I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” Matthew 25:23

“In His days the righteous shall flourish, and abundance of peace, until the moon is no more.” Psalm 72:7

“It may be at morn, when the day is awaking, when sunlight through darkness and shadow is breaking, That Jesus will come in the fulness to glory , to receive from the world His own. O Lord Jesus how long, how long ere we shout the glad son, Christ returneth, hallelujah, hallelujah amen.

It may be at midday, it may be at twilight, it may be perchance, that the blackness of midnight, will burst into light in the blaze of His glory. When Jesus receives His own. His hosts cry Hosanna, from heaven descending, with glorified saints and the angels attending, with grace on His brow, like a halo of glory, will Jesus receive His own.

O joy! O delight! Should we go without dying, no sickness, no sadness, no dread, and no crying, caught up through the clouds with our Lord into glory, When Jesus receives His own.      Christ Returneth by H.L. Turner and James McGranahan

What Are We Waiting For?

What are We Waiting For?

“Then the Lord will go forth and fight against those nations as He fights in the day of battle. And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, which faces Jerusalem on the East and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from East to West, making a very large valley, half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half toward the South.” Zechariah 14:3-4

“Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.” Revelation 1:7

“His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes like a flame of fire.” Revelation 1:14 “His feet like brass.” Revelation 2:18

“And on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.” Revelation 19:12

“For as the lightning comes from the East and flashes to the West, so also will the coming of the Son of man be.” Matthew 24:27

“Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.” Matthew 24:29-30

“He who testifies to these things says, “surely, I am coming quickly. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus! Revelation 22:20

Is It Too Late?

Is it Too Late?

“Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads. 144,00 of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed.” Revelation 7:3-4

“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14

“then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth – to every nation, tribe, tongue and people – saying with a loud voice, “fear God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and worship Him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Revelation 14:6-7

“Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12

“And Jesus said to him, “today salvation has come to this house, because he also is the son of Abraham; for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10

“We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

“Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the Word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Revelation 20:4

“For He says, “In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2 Corinthians 6:2.

Don't Take The Mark

Don’t Take the Mark

The Beast ‘causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of His name.” 666. Revelations 13:16-17

The second beast “deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast.” Revelation 13:14

“Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Revelation 19:20

“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.” Malachi 4:5

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.” Matthew 7:15

“And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28

“And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony and did not love their lives to death.” Revelation 12:11

“If we endure, we shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He shall also deny us.” 2 Timothy 2:12

“Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ and shall reign with Him a thousand years.” Revelation 20:6

A Matter of Perspective

A Matter of Perspective

“Make it a practice to judge persons and things in the most favorable light at all times; in all circumstances.” St. Vincent De Paul

“If you judge people, you have no time to love them. Mother Teresa

You’ve heard the saying, “don’t judge a book by its cover.” I have read several books where the title didn’t match the content as I expected. I had to change my whole perspective once I started reading the book. In life, it could be the same. Some might say, “What you see is what you get.” But that’s not always true. Maybe you have been dating a person for a while, you become engaged thinking that you know him/her enough to marry. Once married, the spouse seems to change. And your perspective must change. There are adjustments that must be made. Maybe you didn’t know your spouse didn’t take out the trash or put the dirty clothes in the hamper. You wonder why the clothes are on the floor next to the hamper or the trash is everywhere except in the trash can. Maybe the dishes are piling up in the sink. Unless you lived with the person (which I don’t advocate) before you married, you wouldn’t know this would be the issue after you married. Or maybe it was an issue, and you thought it would change once you are married. Our perspective before and after marriage is never correct. Our expectations are either too high or too low, but God knows before and after what is going to happen. He knows how our perspectives will change and if we don’t put God first in our life, no matter what the circumstance, we will never learn how to adjust our perspective to a pleasing outcome. Allow God to guide you and lead you in all aspects of your life.

Communion

Communion

It’s not very often that we hear a sermon on Communion. It’s not only important for us adults to know why Communion is important but it’s important for our children to know why we take it, who is it for, and What is the meaning of Communion.

Shouldn’t we as teachers tell our children that communion is more than crackers and juice? It is a consecration (the separation of oneself from things that are unclean, especially anything that would contaminate our relationship with God). It is an event that is shared among fellow believers who had buried their sins in the watery grave of baptism and devoted their self to God who will do His work in us.

Acts 2:42 “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayer.”

I Corinthians 10:16 “Is not the cup of blessing which we bless sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?”

I Corinthians 11:24 “and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “this is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”

I Corinthians 11:26 “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.”

Miracles

Miracles

A miracle is an event which is not produced by the natural causes that are operative at the time and place that the event occurs.

“For with God nothing shall be impossible.” Luke 1:37

Since there is a Creator who designed and brought the universe into being, who sustains its existence moment by moment, who is responsible for the very natural laws that govern the physical world, then certainly it’s rational to believe that miracles are possible.

The following example is summarized and taken from “Chicken Soup for the Christian Soul.”

In 1980 David Carr of Bango, Maine started out to find a haven for the homeless. Previously he had heard that a man had been murdered and thrown over the bridge into the Penabscot River. David’s urgings led him to that side of the river to look for the perfect location. While walking the bridge a car drove up with three men inside. As they got out of their car, one yelled, “let’s throw him over. Realizing he was on the same bridge where the murder happened, he urgently began to pray, “Help me God.” Immediately he felt an unseen present beside him, and he felt a peace wash over him. When the three men rushed toward him, they suddenly looked terrified and turned away and ran. He wondered what they saw. Upon continuing his walk, he passed some derelicts who said he was shining so much, he was hard to look at. Another car drove by, and he recognized his friend. The next day the friend said he couldn’t pick him up because he didn’t have room in his car for all three of Dave’s huge friends. Dave realized God had provided His angels to protect him.

I we believe in God, then we can believe in miracles.

Give What We Are

Give What We Are

“We must not only give what we have; we must also give what we are.” Cardinal Marcia

Have you seen the girl in the park sitting all alone with tears in her eyes? You pray, “God why don’t you do something about this?” His answer, “I did do something, I made you.”

God made us with eyes to see those around us who are hurting and with hearts with compassion. He gave us minds of wisdom of understanding of our past experiences to help those in the present through similar trials. He gave us arms to reach out and hug those who are bereft of Love and comfort. Arms to hold a baby or child to help a hard-working Mother who is in much need of rest.

God gave us hands to support those who need a helping hand in cooking, cleaning, sewing and yard work.

He gave us His Love to share with others. His Word to spread, Praises to the Lord. Pray for others and Love one another as God Loves you.

“Give and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, they will pour into your lap for whatever measure you deal out to others, it will be dealt to you in return.” Luke 6:35

Selflessness

Selflessness

The quality of caring more about what other people need and want than about you yourself need and want.

There once was a lady named Helen Finney who made over 100 mittens each year to see that everyone had warm hands for Christmas. They called her the ‘mitten lady” because she did this anonymously until just before her death.

Another lady crocheted quilts and handed them out at the local nursing home. Still another made quilts to hand out as birthday gifts to residents of a local low-income housing.

There are so many ways to be selfless. The need is unending. I have found that the best way to help yourself is to put yourself out for others. The rewards are unending.

Think of Jesus’ selflessness. He went all the way to the cross for us. His reward is in His followers who needed Him so much, and in return, they became selfless in helping others. The saints in heaven rejoice every time someone turns to God and begins to bring others to Him.

If you are feeling down on yourself, then reach out and help someone else. Volunteer in a soup kitchen, nursing home. Become a driver for those without a car. Reach out to a homeless person with food or blankets. There are so many opportunities for us, that we only need to look past ourselves and reach out to someone else.

Jesus said, “I have glorified thee on earth; I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.” John 17:4

Waiting on God

Waiting on God

I have found that the hardest thing to do is waiting on God. We live in a do it now society. Everything is ready at our fingertips. We can find most of our answers online in just moments. Most of all we want, we want now. But when things are out of our control and we have no say in it, then we wonder what is going on. How long do we wait Lord? We know that God’s timing is not the same as our timing. Look how long it took for Abraham and Sarah to have Isaac. Like Sarah, I can be impatient and want to speed up the process. There are times though, when that is not possible. We must wait for things to fall into place.

God thoroughly knows what is best for us and whether it takes a day, a week or even years God is in control. There is no hurrying God. I want to be patient like David who patiently  waited years to become the King of Israel. Many things had to happen for David to become King. We don’t have the foresight like God does. There may be several things that have to take place before we get the answers we want. What they might be, we don’t know. That is why we must remind ourselves that Faith is trusting in the Lord and being assured that something good is going to come our way. When we jump into the problem and try to solve it ourselves, then difficult things might happen. We tend to run in vain and get nowhere or make matters worse. There is a reason God says, “Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10.

It's hard to wait, and it’s hard to follow Philippians 2:14-16 “Do all things without complaining and disputing that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain.” Isaiah 40:31 tells me “He who waits on the Lord will soar as wings of an eagle.” I want to soar and I want to wait patiently. This post is written because I and many others are having difficulties in waiting on God. I want to be encouraged, and I want to encourage others to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Proverbs 3:5

People We Meet

People We Meet

Have you ever wondered why God puts certain people in our lives? It’s easy to understand why there are people who come to us that encourage us or tend to our needs when we are sick or afflicted. Sometimes God places the right people in our life at the most opportune time. He sends someone to lift us up when we are feeling down.

He gives divine appointments for those who need one, just to help them have a new beginning. He gave Stephen and the Ethiopian Eunuch a divine appointment found in Acts 8:26-29. It shows God’s ability to arrange circumstances for the fulfillment of His purposes. Abraham’s servant who prayed to God to help him find a wife for Isaac. God led Rebekah to him. Genesis 24:12-14. Joseph’s journey to Egypt was a divine appointment that led to the preservation of the Israelites during a severe famine. Genesis 50:20. There are many more examples of divine appointments in the Bible but let us ponder the ones that God places in front of us that we don’t necessarily want to know.  There are people that come to us that may not smell right or dress according to our standards. Then there are those who enjoy taunting others and pestering people to no end. Why does God put these kinds of people before us. How do we behave around those people? Are you not aware that God loves them just as much as He loves you?

Here are some Biblical examples of people who are rejected: Lepers were covered with sores and were claimed unclean, but Jesus came up to the Leper and healed him. Matthew 8:1-4. What would you have done? I think many of you would have held your nose or walked away, ignoring him. Why would Jesus give us a commandment to Love one another as He has loved us and then put people in our life that we rather not have any contact with. I believe it is to teach us love, compassion, patience and selflessness. If you do not have these characteristics when God places an unwanted person before you then you don’t have the love of Jesus in your heart. He begs everyone to come to Him, even the smelly, dirty, foul-mouthed, disease-ridden people. He says, “Come to Me all you who are heavy ladened and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.  Next time you meet someone you dislike, pray to God to help you see that person as God sees them. It will change your outlook and your attitude.

Bearing the Pain

Bearing the Pain

How could you not love this person who went the extra mile, who practiced more than He preached, who entered our world, who suffered our pains, who offers Himself to us in the midst of our sorrows?

God’s answer to the problem of suffering is that He came right down into it. Jesus is the answer to suffering. It is His Word. It is His person. Take your suffering to Him and He will enter it with You, and all will turn out good for those who Love Him.

Jesus was broken, despised and rejected of men. He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. He was sold out and the people hid their faces from Him as they would a leper.

Every tear we shed becomes His tear. He may not wipe them away yet, but He will.

Jesus was honest enough to tell us we’d have trials and tribulations.

When your world is rocked, you don’t want philosophy or theology as much as you want the reality of Christ. Our sufferings become more manageable in the light of His.

New Jerusalem

New Jerusalem

“Then I, John, saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem.” Revelation 21:2

“And He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the Holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.” Revelation 21:10

This Holy city will be perfect. There will be no lies told, no evil word, no shady business deal, no unclean picture. There will be no jails, courtrooms, prisons, hospitals or funeral homes in heaven.

Dr. Criswell stated, “When Jesus died and rose again, His old body wasn’t obliterated and recreated from scratch. The body that rose again was the same that had died on the cross; but in the resurrection power it was glorified, transformed, and fitted for eternity. Our bodies may decay to dust, but God knows where every molecule has landed and somehow in His omnipotent energy, the physical bodies we have now will be resurrected and instantly glorified.”

We will no longer need eyewear, dentures, hearing aids, walkers, wheelchairs or oxygen tanks. Our bodies will be the same, but perfect. No more scars or injuries. Our bodies will be redeemed, restored, made new, not thrown away. And so, it is with the heavens and the earth.

Notes taken from “Rereading the Mysteries of Heaven” by Dr. David Jeremiah.

Is Heaven Boring?

Is Heaven Boring?

1.     No, because God is not boring. He is full of joy! He is pleasant in every sense of the word. God created music, and the ability to perform it. God created humor and laughter and has a love for adventure. God gave shape to every animal and created a donkey that could speak, a fish that could swallow a man, and a flock of ravens that could feed a prophet. He can send meteors hurling through space and crack the skies with lightning and thunder.

2.     No, because we will not be boring. “For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. I Corinthians 15:42-43, 51-52.

3.     No, because our friends won’t be boring. Heaven will be full of angels, and I believe we will get to know them as friends. We will have friends with Christians though out all the ages and with the Old Testament saints. Our relationships will be open, honest, interesting, loving and uncomplicated by sin.

4.     No, because our work won’t be boring. In Genesis 2:15 Adam and Eve tended God’s Garden and Adam named all the animals. Genesis 2:19-20. They were made in God’s image. God is a God of ability, purpose, and power. We will be serving God with angels’ day and night.

Everything we do will bring us perfect satisfaction and lasting reward.

If heaven doesn’t appeal to you, then consider the option of hell where there is no love, no work or anything to do that matters to anyone.

Seeking a Homeland

Seeking a Homeland

“This world is not my home, I’m just passing through, my treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me from heaven’s open door, and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.”  Lyrics by Albert E. Brumley

Are you seeking a foundation whose builder and maker is God? A city that is better than all the cities in the past, present, and future. This city will be larger and far more glorious than any city on earth. It’s a physical city mentioned eleven times in the Book of Revelation. It’s a city made by God’s own hands.

Abraham was looking forward to the city with foundations built by God. Hebrews 11:8-10.

All of us who claim Christ as our Savior are looking forward to the New Jerusalem to join thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly whose names are written in heaven. Hebrews 13:14.

John saw the new city, already built coming down from heaven. Revelation 21:1-5.

This is the city that Jesus is preparing for us and is reserved for those who have trusted and put their faith in God.

God can do anything and can certainly design and build a great celestial city and relocate it to the new earth at the beginning of eternity.

Reservation in Heaven

Reservation in Heaven

Do you have your name written in the Lamb’s Book of Life?

We have “an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.” I Peter 1:4

“But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lambs Book of Life.” Revelation 21:27.

What will you answer Jesus when He asks you why you should enter His kingdom? Will you be able to say, I have a reservation because my name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. I have put my trust and faith in Jesus as my Savior who died and rose from the grave. He took away my sins by shedding His blood for me.

“In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know. John 14

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14

God is still accepting reservations for heaven. Confess your sins, accept Jesus in baptism and respond to His RSVP. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Capture the Moment

Capture the Moment

Ecclesiastes 9:10 “whatever your hands find to do, do it with your might.” 9:12 “For man also does not know his time.”

When we go about our daily life, we sometimes seem to be in a hurry, not taking time to look around us. Take this day to notice the beautiful colors God has placed before you. Listen to the trees rustle in the wind or the scampering of a squirrel up a tree. Try not to overlook what is happening in the moment. Perhaps you are shopping. Notice the many faces, the pretty eyes, the beautiful smiles, children playing. In your home, notice the richness in the heart of your mate. Loving kindnesses from your children, family and friends. If we look hard enough in any given moment, we can find something positive to focus on. In our busy lifetime, we need to learn to slow down and capture each moment. We need to live as though this day is our last day on earth and we don’t want to miss a single thing. Take the time today to listen to every noise, to notice every detail of everything that is set before you. Then praise God and rejoice in His blessings, for He is an Awesome God!

Self-Esteem

Self-Esteem

Have you ever warned a person about something, and they didn’t listen to you only to have that warning become fact later on in life? It hurts when you see this happen, but we must always speak the truth to our families, our friends even when they don’t appear to be listening. God makes it clear that He is well acquainted with every individual from the time each person is conceived and that He has a plan for each one. God knew Jeremiah before he had been formed in his mother’s womb, and He planned for him to be a prophet. God has each person’s life in His hands. He created each of us for a purpose. Each of us should stand tall with high esteem by understanding who we are in Christ.

Self-esteem generally describes feelings of self-hate, rejection and an inability to accept oneself as special and unique. When people grow up believing that they are unattractive or incompetent, their self-esteem will be shaped accordingly. Paul, in Romans 12:3 tells us to “think soberly” about ourselves. This means to be honest about who you are as a person and how God sees you. God usually places more value on us than we do. Many people either distort their self-image in a negative way or in an exaggerated positive way. We are either down on ourselves, not liking who we are, or we think we are better than others and have become conceited. One way to heal our self-esteem is to first be honest, be willing to admit our strengths and weaknesses. Secondly, stop degrading ourselves. Get rid of the negative. To be positive is to affirm the gifts that God has given and to praise God for who He made us to be. We are neither worse nor better than another person. We each have good and bad points, and we ask for God’s help in working out the bad points. We must value our self as God values us and we must value others as God values them. When people conquer their self-rejection, they open the door to be more acceptable of both them and others.

Self-Respect

Self-Respect

What kind of girlfriend or boyfriend do you want to be for your date? How high have you set your standards? Consider the fact that God is your Father and He has already set the standards for you. That is to be pure, holy, and chaste in all ways. Your body is Gods temple. It is important for us to strive to maintain purity. First and foremost, we must seek godly mates. When that is done, God will provide the protection and blessings needed in our relationships. Still, it is up to us to not let fleshly desires get in the way of our need for true love. God is present when we keep Him there. When we consider our wedding night, it should be considered as the first of many nights. We don’t want to enter a relationship thinking, “been there, done that.” It takes away the specialness of the day. Even if this is the second or third marriage, don’t you think we owe it to our new spouse to do it right this time. To make everything first, the first time he/she sees your body. The first time we show our love to each other. When we chose the right mate, and we plan our future together, it should be done with the choice of whether we want to bring blessings or cursing’s into our marriage. Doing it God’s way is the only way we will receive the blessings in our marriage. Any other way can only lead to future problems that come our way but to start out with God, we will always maintain the standards He sets for us, and we set for ourselves. Please don’t cheapen the relationship by living worldly standards before marriage. God Bless all those who are seeking a relationship. May it always stay within God’s will.

Pursue Love and Desire Spiritual Gifts

Pursue Love and Desire Spiritual Gifts

I Corinthians 14:1 “Pursue Love and desire spiritual gifts”. Those two actions seem to fit perfectly together. “When we pursue Love, we should devote ourselves in doing it to receive the blessings or spiritual gifts that God has planned for us.” Doing anything outside of God’s will, only leads to trouble. There are no blessings or spiritual gifts involved. When we fall in love, we are making a decision. To those who are just now experiencing first love need to be very thoughtful of the decision that is made. What is it about the person that made you fall in love? Is it because of loneliness or is it because of fleshly desires. It is important to examine the intent of both sides but most of all the utmost question that needs to be answered is where God fits into the relationship. If God is not included or is not loved even more than the relationship that you are developing with this person, then you are already on a downward slope. Blessings only come when God is made the head of the house, the decision maker, the guidance counselor, the protector. Maybe the relationship has already been established and there are problems to be dealt with. Every relationship, even the best ones, has a problem now and then. The question would be, how hard would you fight to keep the love flame burning? If you really, truly love your mate, then wouldn't you do all in your power to put God in your life so that the direction you take will be the right direction. Complacency has no part in a love relationship. To say, “I don’t care anymore, he or she can do whatever they want, I will live my life my way and he can live his way,” will only lead to further destruction. Read and study I Corinthians 13:4-10 and see where your relationship lies, if it is not according to scripture, then fight for your marriage and set things right.  If you are out to change your mate, forget it, the only way to change your mate is to change yourself first. That starts with a relationship with God. A good book to help you on that path is “Love Dare.”

Do Good, Be Good continued

Do Good, Be Good cont.

Step 3 – Everyone wants to do good. Are we living in a state of Why Me Lord? Or is everything centered around our own needs, but we feel totally isolated from the world? Try reaching out, do it for God. This is the purpose God created us, to reach out to the poor, the sick, the widows and the orphans. To encourage one another. Become a volunteer. Don’t do it for yourself or for the glory of others but do it for God. When you do, it will become a ministry for the Lord. Wow, what a wonderful feeling to do good, knowing that someday God will say, “well don thou good and faithful servant.”

Step 4 – Okay now we look good, feel good, do good. All of this will cause us to be good. We are special in God’s eyes. Once we step out of ourselves and do these things for God and no one else, we will want to be that shining example and will want others to see Jesus in us. How great it is that we can give up our bad habits and be good for the Lord. Praise God! We are living for God. We look good, we feel good, We do good and by the grace of God we are good!
