Pursue Love and Desire Spiritual Gifts

Pursue Love and Desire Spiritual Gifts

I Corinthians 14:1 “Pursue Love and desire spiritual gifts”. Those two actions seem to fit perfectly together. “When we pursue Love, we should devote ourselves in doing it to receive the blessings or spiritual gifts that God has planned for us.” Doing anything outside of God’s will, only leads to trouble. There are no blessings or spiritual gifts involved. When we fall in love, we are making a decision. To those who are just now experiencing first love need to be very thoughtful of the decision that is made. What is it about the person that made you fall in love? Is it because of loneliness or is it because of fleshly desires. It is important to examine the intent of both sides but most of all the utmost question that needs to be answered is where God fits into the relationship. If God is not included or is not loved even more than the relationship that you are developing with this person, then you are already on a downward slope. Blessings only come when God is made the head of the house, the decision maker, the guidance counselor, the protector. Maybe the relationship has already been established and there are problems to be dealt with. Every relationship, even the best ones, has a problem now and then. The question would be, how hard would you fight to keep the love flame burning? If you really, truly love your mate, then wouldn't you do all in your power to put God in your life so that the direction you take will be the right direction. Complacency has no part in a love relationship. To say, “I don’t care anymore, he or she can do whatever they want, I will live my life my way and he can live his way,” will only lead to further destruction. Read and study I Corinthians 13:4-10 and see where your relationship lies, if it is not according to scripture, then fight for your marriage and set things right.  If you are out to change your mate, forget it, the only way to change your mate is to change yourself first. That starts with a relationship with God. A good book to help you on that path is “Love Dare.”
