O
For a Faith that Will Not Shrink
I am on a mission to introduce songs to you that you may
or may not know. Songs that are sung but not listened to. We sing with our
lips, but sometimes our minds and our hearts are far away. My purpose it to
have us not only read the words but study them until we understand them. Then
when we sing the songs, our heart and mind will receive it.
Today’s song is about faith that we all crave. A faith
that is not fearful and can stand against any trial. Let us look at the words
of “O for a faith that will not Shrink” by William H. Balhurst and arranged by
John B. Dykes:
“O for a faith that will not shrink, Tho pressed by every
foe. That will not tremble on the brink of any earthly woe!
That will not murmur or complain beneath the chastening
rod. But, in the hour of grief or pain, will lean upon its God.
A faith that shines brighter and clearer when tempests
rage without; That when in danger knows no fear, in darkness feels no doubt.
Lord, give us such a faith as this, and then, whate’er
may come, we’ll taste, e’en here, the hallowed bliss of an eternal home.”
