Why
Do You Wait?
I’ll wait until I stop smoking or drinking. I’ll wait
until I feel ready or feel worthy. Some people feel like they have plenty of life
left before they need to come to Jesus. Others believe that just because they
are a good person, they don’t need to confess their sins or change their ways. Or
maybe their hope relies on a bedside confession. They don’t realize that void
in their life is because they don’t have Jesus. No one knows when it is going
to be too late. It’s dangerous to wait until the last minute or until they are
bedbound. Your decision could mean a heaven or hell outcome. Please turn to
Jesus and don’t delay any further.
Lyrics by George F. Root, arranged by George F. Root
“Why do you wait, dear brother, oh, why do you tarry so
long? Your Savior is waiting to give you a place in His sanctified throng.
What do you hope, dear brother, to gain by a further
delay? There’s no one to save you but Jesus, there’s no other way but His way.
Do you not feel, dear brother, His Spirit now striving
within? Oh, why not accept His salvation, and throw off your burden of sin?
Why do you wait, dear brother? The harvest is passing
away; Your Savior is longing to bless you, There’s no danger and death in
delay.
Why not? Why not? Why not come to Him now? Now?
