Ecclesiastes
9 – One Event Happens to All
Solomon
observes that death is a great leveler. One’s station in life does not matter,
every person will die someday unless the Lord returns first. (I Cor. 15:26).
You can avoid thinking of it, but you cannot avoid the appointment. (Heb.
9:27). The only way to prepare for death is to receive God’s gift of eternal
life through faith in Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
All
who live still have hope. Every day is a celebration (Phil. 4:4). God wants us
to enjoy feasts, and family, and the work He has called you to do.
With
death in view, people should also work, live, and love with all their might.
Marriage is a covenant that is not meant to be broken. Life is unpredictable, but it need not be
irrational. Let God give you wisdom to use each day profitably for His glory.
The
most skillful or most gifted does not always win, sometimes the outcome
involves timing and opportunity. Sometimes life just happens. Only God controls
life, and death is what reminds people of that. God is the only guarantee in
life.
Even
though wisdom is powerful enough to save a city, People tend to forget the wise
one if they are poor. The thought of death should energize you, not paralyze
you (Phil.1:19-26)
