How
Firm a Foundation
Our foundation is built on God’s word. Our faith is
derived from God’s word. He promises to be our refuge in time of trouble. We
have no reason to fear when we know we can rely on God to always be with us. He
will give us aid, strengthen us and help us to stand by His omnipotent
hand. He will go with us through trials
and tribulations and strengthen us when we are weak.
Lyrics are by an unknown author and was arranged by Early
American Melody.
“How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord, is laid
for you faith in His excellent word! What more can He say than to you He has
said, to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?
Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed, for I am thy
God, and will still give thee aid; I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause
thee to stand, upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand.
When thro’ the deep waters I call thee to go, the rivers
of sorrow shall not overflow; For I will be with thee thy trials to bless and
sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.
When thro’ fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, My grace,
all sufficient, shall be thy supply; the flames shall not hurt thee, I only
design thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.”
