Backsliding
“If we say
that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not
practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have
fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us
from all sin.”
“If we say
that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we
confess our sins, He is faithful to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from
all unrighteousness.” I John 1:6-9
There may
come a time in our life where we decide to do things our way. We think we can do
it alone and will come out alright. We may think that being a Christian is too
hard and has become a struggle to do things God’s way. This may go on for years
and things may go smoothly for a while. Then one day, when things start falling
apart, we may look back and realize we had been spinning our wheels and had not
grown one bit in our spiritual walk with God. There is a reason God tells us to
fellowship with one another. We need each other to grow and encourage each
other. We had back slidden and then we realize that it is easier to be in God’s
light than to live on our own in the darkness of the world by our own efforts.
Then we turn to Psalm 51 and pray this prayer to God. It is a prayer of
repentance. God bless all those who have returned to the fold and once again
fellowship with God and one another.
Please
read the scriptures listed, study them, apply them to your life and grow in the
saving relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior.
