Divorce
Mark
10:2-12
“Is it lawful for a man to divorce his
wife?”
Moses permitted
a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.”
Because of
the hardness of man’s heart Moses allowed this, but Jesus said that from the
beginning of the creation, God had made man and woman to leave their parents
and be joined together and become one. Therefore, what God has joined together,
let not man separate.
Whoever
divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery. Same goes for the wife,
if she divorces her husband and marries another commits adultery.
If the spouse
dies, the surviving spouse is free to remarry.
Throughout
the ages this scripture has been steadily ignored. We are a self-centered
people, seeking happiness and not putting God first and obeying His laws. That
being said, God is a forgiving God and His judgment alone stands. He can use us
in any capacity of our lives. Let us go forward and seek to do what is right in
God’s eyes and glorify Him in all that we do.
