Come,
Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain
God had led the twelve tribes of Israel out of slavery
under the Pharoah’s hand, to freedom to freely worship and follow God. Jesus
escaped the prison of the grave and was resurrected so that we might be
forgiven of our sins and have the freedom to freely worship and follow Him. Today,
He invites us to join Him in the plan of Salvation so that we can freely live
in the New Jerusalem and worship Him in songs of praise.
Lyrics by John M. Neale, arranged by Arthur S. Sullivan
“Come, ye faithful, raise the strain of triumphant
gladness; God has brought Israel into joy from sadness, loosed from Pharoah’s bitter
yoke Jacob’s son and daughters, led them with unmoistened foot through the Red
Sea waters.
It’s the spring of souls today; Christ has burst His
prison. And from three day’s sleep in death as a sun has risen, all the winter
of our sins, long and dark, is flying from His light, to whom we give laud and
praise undying.
Now the queen of seasons, bright with the day of
splendor, with the royal feast of feasts, comes its joy to render; Comes to
glad Jerusalem, who with true affection welcomes in unwearied strains Jesus’
resurrection.
Alleluia now to Thee, Christ, our King immortal, who has
passed the gates of death and the tomb’s sealed portal; Who, though never door
unclose, in the assembly standing, breathes on Thy friend the peace past all
understanding. Amen”
