He
Wore a Crown of Thorns
Jesus Christ came to this earth and became a human, not
because he had to, but because it was His will to do so. He chose to come to
earth and teach us from right and wrong and He chose to go to the cross for us.
We could have worn that cross, but He chose to wear it for us. We are not
worthy of such a great sacrifice, and because He died for us, He will never
have to do it again. His death was to take away our sins, from then, to now,
forever. Praise God for loving us so much!
Lyrics by William M. Runtan, arranged by George S.
Schuler
“Was God’s own Son that came to earth, who chose to know
a lowly birth; But though a King of matchless worth, He wore a crown of thorns.
Wonderful, Counselor was He, Matchless His grace; How
could it be that at the last, He wore for me that bitter crown of thorns?
Kind were the deeds that crowned each day, gracious the words His lips would say, while
pursued the fateful way to wear the crown of thorns.
Never again HIs brow shall know piercings of agony and
woe; But was for us that, here below, He wore the crown of thorns.
He wore a crown of thorns that I might wear a crown of
glory! He laid his heavenly splendors by to bring me love’s sweet story He
walked life’s way. Olive’s garden bowed to pray; He wore a crown of thorns that
I might wear a crown of glory!
