Humility
Luke 18:9-14
“Jesus spoke this parable to some who trusted in
themselves that they were righteous, and despised others.”
This parable is about a Pharisee and a tax collector. The
Pharisee prayed, “I thank you that I am not like other men- extortioners,
unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week and I
give tithes of all that I possess.” And the tax collector prayed, “God, be merciful
to me a sinner!” “I tell you that this man went down to his house justified
rather than the other, for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he
who humbles himself will be exalted.”
It is good to do good but only with the knowledge that we
can’t do anything without God. God is the only one that prospers us. We cannot
do anything on our own. He gave us our skills and our talents. He made us the
person we have become, and it is good to always be mindful of His goodness. We mustn’t
brag about what we do without acknowledging that God had His hand in it the whole
time. Praise God for without Him we cannot do anything. He blesses us when we
bless Him and He humbles those who do not. We mustn’t ever think we are better
than anyone else. God made all of us in his image and He loves us all equally. Look
at your brothers and sisters as Jesus looks at them. Praying always that we be
kind and loving to all people that God places before us. They are there for a
reason, not to be put down, but to be lifted up.
Please read the scriptures listed, study
them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus
Christ our Savior.
