Steadfastness
I Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable,
always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in
vain in the Lord.”
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as
working for the Lord, not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the
reward of the inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ.” Colossians 3:2-24
How do we separate what the Lord wants from us, from what
man wants of us? That has been my question for some time. When I find myself
overworking and feeling overwhelmed, I must take a step back and reassess my
priorities. Is what I am doing, my ministry for the Lord or am I trying to
please mankind. Our goal should be to please God and be obedient to His word.
The Litmus test would be questions like this:
Is what I am doing, out of love for the Lord, or is it
out of obligation to man?
Am I doing it with a willing heart?
Is my attitude in the right place?
Whatever we do, we must do it from the heart, for the
Lord, always abounding in the work of the Lord.
Please read the scriptures listed, study
them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus
Christ our Savior.
