Honesty
2 Corinthians 8:21
“Providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the
Lord, but also in the sight of men.” 2 Corinthians 8:21
Growing up I was taught to be honest in all things, don’t
cheat, don’t lie, don’t steal, respect other’s properties and treat others the
way you would want to be treated. I can’t say I followed those rules to the
tee, but I had learned from my mistakes. We think we can get away with things
because no one seems to be looking. We can be like little children and close
our eyes, thinking no one sees if we do so. But God sees. He sees everything.
He even knows what we are going to do or say before it is done.
When we get older, we learn to think before we speak, we
learn to consider the consequences before we do anything. Sometimes, we forget
to do that, and we end up in trouble.
“When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as
a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man/woman, I put away
childish things.” I Corinthians 13:11. This is Paul’s admonition to us
believers to grow up and be honest in all our ways.
We must present ourselves as living examples to those
around us and be honest in all we say and do before the sight of God.
Please read the scriptures listed, study
them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus
Christ our Savior.
