Pure
Thinking
Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever
things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever
things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue
and if there is anything praiseworthy- meditate on these things.” Philippians
4:8
According to the National Science Foundation, 80% of our
thoughts are negative and 95% of our thoughts are repetitive. That is anywhere
from 5,000 to 40,000 negative thoughts a day. I always thought I was a positive
person until I took time to capture my thoughts and count how many times I
spoke negative words. That didn’t count the ones I thought but didn’t speak. You
would be amazed at how many negative thoughts you had if you did the same.
Try practicing Philippians 4:8 and you will discover how
hard that is. So let us look at what is true; We are creations of God, Jesus
died for us, He has a plan for us. What is noble; God’s word is noble and just.
Obedience to His word is noble. What is pure; A newborn baby, a newly bloomed
flower is lovely, what is of good report; The Good News, A saved sinner, Jesus
loves me. This list can go on and on and when we practice this we can lift
others up in praise and bring positivity in not only in our own thoughts but in
the lives of others. Let us strive to take our thoughts captive and bring more
positivity into our life.
Please read the scriptures listed, study
them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus
Christ our Savior.
