Romans 13:1-7, Titus 3:1
“Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For
there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed
by God. Therefore, whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God,
and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a
terror to good works, but to evil.” Romans 13:1-3
“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly
calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Jesus Christ.”
Titus 3:1
Not all people like to be told what to do by ones having
authority over us, nor do they like how the authority rules over them. But God put
them in our lives for a reason and that is to make a better life for us while
we are here living on earth. Not all things are done easily and quickly.
Patience is required and prayers for the ones in authority are required. Not all
human authorities are perfect, they will make mistakes along the way. Even more
reason to pray for them and do our best to make their job easier. It is not
good to resist authority, it could lead to jail time, or hurtful situations.
We have one authority that is perfect and that is our
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To resist authority on earth is to resist our
Savior who has appointed the authority on earth. Jesus expects us to be
obedient to not only His authority but to those whom He put in place to rule
over us. More importantly though we are to be obedient to God’s Word and to
practice godly lives.
Please read the scriptures listed, study
them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus
Christ our Savior.
