Duty

Duty

Luke 20:21-25

In the scripture above, the Pharisees were asking Jesus if it were lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not. Jesus knew they were testing Him so He asked for a denarius and asked them whose image and inscription did it have on it. He then told them to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.

We know that all things come from and belong to God. We also know that It is the law of the land to pay taxes. Since the law is not against God’s will in this case, all persons who holds a job must pay taxes. Not only it is a duty to pay taxes, as a Christian it is our duty to give back to God a portion of what He has given to us. Take a pause now and consider what God has given to you. Even if we have little or nothing, God has given us everything. Consider the air we breathe and the motion of our body. God supplies us with everything we have.

Some say we must give a tenth of our income, some say we must support the church and its expenses. Others say we must support our missionaries. Some say we must give until it hurts. It doesn’t matter how we give and what it is for, we must do it out of Love for the God who created us.

What is important, however we give, we must do it with a willing heart.

Please read the scriptures listed, study them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior.
