Self-Exaltation

Self-Exaltation

Luke 14:11

“For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

The most used words in the vocabulary are the words “me” and “I”. An example of someone exalting himself and being humbled by God is found in Daniel 4.

Nebuchadnezzar “at the end of twelve months he was walking around the royal palace of Babylon. The king spoke, saying, “is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?” while the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven. “King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken; the kingdom has departed from you!”

God had taken Nebuchadnezzar and made him as one of the animals. I encourage you to read the whole chapter to get the whole story.  Nebuchadnezzar exalted himself instead of giving God the credit for making the kingdom as it was. The King could not have done any of it without God.

We are who God created us to be. Granted we have choices that we make outside of God’s will, but He still uses us, even as we do. We cannot do anything great on our own. God gives us the skills and the mindset to do our best at whatever we do. The credit does not go to us, it is all from God. It is better to humble ourselves than to be humbled by God. Whatever God gives us, He can also take away. Next time we start to say “I” or “me” we should pause to think that I cannot do anything without God.

Please read the scriptures listed, study them, apply them to your life and grow in the saving relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior.
