Submission
1 Peter 2:13-17
“Therefore, submit yourselves to every ordinance of man
for the Lord’s sake, whether to the King as the supreme, or to governors, as to
those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of
those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you may put
to silence the ignorance of foolish men- not as free, yet not using liberty as
a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God. Honor all people. Love the
brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the King.” I Peter 2:13-17
These verses are so appropriate for what is happening in
our world today. They clearly state what God’s will is in honoring the
leadership of our nation.
We are to submit to our leaders of our nation. We are to
pray for them. It wasn’t so much the people’s vote that placed our president in
office and other leaders in place, but God Himself who makes the final
decision. He always gives us either what we want or what we need or what we
deserve.
God is in control and sometimes things get worse before
they get better to help us build our character and to draw us closer to Him.
Even at the worse scenario God is always present and will provide for His
children and protect them. No amount of griping or grumbling will make a
difference in what is happening today. What will make a difference is our love
and encouragement for each other and our prayers over our nation and leaders.
God will guide, guard and direct them as He does us individually. Let us honor
those that God has anointed to rule over us while here on earth.
