Self-Righteousness
Luke
18:11-12
A self-righteous
person is a narrow-minded or moralistic person. It is having an attitude and
belief of moral superiority thinking they are more virtuous than others. They
have an outward focus on the behavior of others, and an arrogance stemming from
a moral high ground.
When someone
constantly tries to make themselves look better by putting others down. They
become this way when they lack understanding about a specific topic.
Everyone has
a story, and no one knows another’s’ story unless they have lived in their
shoes. To live a self-righteous life means they are not accepting others for
who they are and do not understand where the behavior of others comes from.
If this
definition defines you, then try focusing on humility, recognizing your own
need for God’s grace and forgiveness and strive to emulate Jesus’ humility and
love for others.
When we are
confident in our own worthiness, there’s no reason to try to prove it to
ourselves or convince others of it.
Please
read the scriptures listed, study them, apply them to your life and grow in the
saving relationship with Jesus Christ our Savior.
